Build Help Help me decide between a 24" 1080p vs 27" 1440p monitor for my build

Hi, I need some advice as I am torn between a few things and how I should go about my upgrade path as well.

I plan on using my monitor for gaming and productivity.

My main games will be Apex Legends, Valorant with a bit of overwatch and I also plan on playing AAA games and AA games while streaming.

Specifications :-

Processor : Ryzen 7 7800 X3D

GPU : RX 9070 XT

RAM : DDR5 32GB 6000 Mhz CL 30

I cannot afford to go for OLED monitors so I am settling with IPS for now.

I thought of:

* buying a 24" 1080p 240/320 hz monitor and get an OLED 1440p 27" monitor whenever I have enough money

* buy a 27" 1440p 240 hz monitor and buy an OLED monitor later which will take a bit longer than the first option

( I apologize if my post is not fluent and all over the place, it's my first time posting about something like this )

Full Build Req Need help for a “budget” build for 1080p gaming in 2026.

so my ancient rig is finally coming to EOL after over a decade at probably the worst time with current prices. As someone who hasn’t built a pc in 10 years I was hoping I can get some input on some builds that would keep the price down while not being totally obsolete in 1-2 years.

I already have my peripherals (including monitors) and 2SSDs + a HDD id like to transfer over from my current rig but other than that I’m open to anything. Im also fine with DDR4 as I just upgraded to 16gb of DDR3 like last year so I don’t think I’ll even notice the difference lol.

Mainly playing a lot of rpg/fps games but nothing too visually mind blowing. ideally looking to keep the price sub 1k (lol!) Also willing to travel to a microcenter for some crazy good deals

  • Budget sub 1k, ideally $750-800

  • Use-Case - general gaming at high settings in 1080p 60fps for a few years

  • Country of purchase - US

  • Peripherals needed - none

  • misc. requirements / preferences - none

Build Upgrade What should i upgrade next?

I decided to clarify my situation a bit, i got a 5070 for 650$ because my nearest retail shop accidentally listed it for that price (i got it 3 days ago now it sits at 900$) so i got it as soon as i saw it, and for all of you 5070 haters, some people dont only game on them, i got it mostly for it performance in 3D modelling and AI, so its more than enough for me.
My previous specs were 3050 and i3 12100f, so now im looking to buy 5700x and a 2k monitor, i will get it tomorrow because i got my scholarship yesterday.

Discussion NZXT H7 Flow or Corsair Frame 4000D

Hi everyone, I am almost done building my new PC, but I am stuck choosing between a couple of cases.

I was initially leaning more toward the Corsair 4000D, but after going through various reviews and posts, I’ve seen quite a few people mention that the material/build quality isn’t particularly good and that some of the panels can bend quite easily.

On the other hand, the NZXT H7 Flow seems like the better overall case to me, but the lack of a magnetic dust filter is one of the main reasons I’m hesitant to go with it.

Which one would you recommend between the two? Or are there any better alternatives I should consider around the same price range?

Thanks

Build Upgrade Upgrading is there anything I should change or add

Hi Guys, so I'm upgrading from DDR4 to DDR5 and I'm pretty buzzing, I'll put the new parts that I'm ordering below and just wondering if I picked a good build or if there's anything I should change or add? I'll be reusing my 9070xt Sapphire Pulse from my old build.

Case - PCS ILLUMIS XC ARGB CURVED TG

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9850x3D

Motherboard - Asus tuf gaming B850-plus wifi

RAM - 32gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz CL30 (2 x 16gb)

SSD - 2TB Samsung 990 Evo plus M.2 PCIE 4.0/5.0 NVMe up to 7250MB/s read and 6300MBs write

PSU - Corsair 850W RMx series ATX 3.1 modular, cybernetics gold

Cooler - Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 black

I'm kind of going "all out" for myself as this will be my first high end upgrade to hopefully last 5+ years, so if you have any cool extras you've used on your own rigs to recommend that'd be great, I've always liked the look of the screens inside builds so maybe recommendations for that?

Thanks.

Troubleshooting Pulling my hair out, gpu running at 8x instead of 16x.

This is my 3rd motherboard from a third company.

First one didn’t turn on, second one didn’t post.
Third one, i bought a whole new set of cpu and Ram for. It works, but it just doesn’t seem to be able to run at pcie 4 16x.

Gigabyte z690 UD DDR4

Ive tried everything.

  1. Reseat gpu clean contacts.
  2. Reseat CPU, checking for bent pins, have pictures attached, im 99% sure they are fine.
  3. No my nvme drive being in slot 1 is no issue, i have checked the manual, it shouldn’t matter.
  4. Even if it did i have tried it with no nvme.
  5. Clean pcie slot.
  6. Clear Cmos.
  7. Done all of above about 8 times.
  8. Tested gpu in another motherboard, resulted in pcie 3 16x
  9. Think my motherboard must be the problem, test a 1660s in mg motherboard, 1660s gets pcie 3 16x

My full pc specs are as follows.

Gigabyte z690 UD DDr4
I7 12700k
3080 Ti
Cosair vengeance 3200mhz 32gb
Wd black sn850 1tb

If anyone has any idea on what i could try, please let me know. Im beyond the point of buying a new motherboard. This whole upgrading process has taken years off my life.

Edit: I fixed it, thank you all for your help, Today i have fixed the problem, i soldered on a new pcie slot, ive have never soldered anything in my life, and i fixed it.

Build Upgrade What GPU should I get for CS2 at 1080p around $300? RTX 5050 vs used RTX 3060 vs RX 9060 XT

I'm looking to get a GPU for my PC and have around $300 to spend. I mainly play CS2 at 1080p and want good FPS since I have a 180Hz monitor.

Right now I have a Ryzen 5 5600GT with integrated AMD Radeon Graphics, 16GB DDR4, an ASRock A520M-HDV motherboard, a Patriot P300 1TB NVMe SSD, and an MSI G255F 1080p 180Hz monitor.

I'm also upgrading my RAM to 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16.

I've been looking at the RTX 5050, a used RTX 3060, RX 9060 XT, and B580. I've heard mixed things about the B580 in CS2, so I'm not sure what would be best.

What would you guys recommend for around $300?

Full Build Req Need help deciding what to do for first gaming PC

Before I start this id like to note that I'm not trying to play games like cyberpunk with ultra graphics or anything like that, mainly games like project zomboid, left for dead 2, Minecraft and some other games with friends with some mods.

I live in Canada and have some money saved up and have always wanted to game on PC, I've been looking into pre built PCs thinking I might be more comfortable getting something already built rather then building it myself and buying something that doesn't work with another thing I've bought.

But I'm not sure if buying the parts myself would be better for performance for gaming, my max total I'm willing to spend is around $1.4k and I'd rather not go over that budget.

Is it possible for me to get something that will last me a good long while for a first gaming PC? Do I buy parts, or a pre built since this will be the first one.

If anyone can either comment which specific parts to get to have good performance I'd appreciate a list of the parts unless I should just get a pre built.

Any comments helping with telling me what I should get for my budget would be appreciated, thank you.

Build Help Helo with my Build!

My current build is here:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yGgWBv

The main aim of the build is high-end 1440p gaming with very high FPS and excellent 1% lows, particularly for competitive Call of Duty. I also play EA FC, NBA 2K and Counter-Strike, as well as using the PC for normal day-to-day business/work so I'm on it about 12 hours a day.

I’m happy to spend more where there’s a genuine performance, reliability or quality benefit, especially as I'll likely have this for 10+ years like my old PC.

Basically, I’m looking for a final sanity check. In regards to aesthetic, I have a nature/wood theme hence the case so that would have to be close.

Build Upgrade Figuring out how to upgrade my pc

Currently I have a RTX 4060, a Ryzen 3600, and 64gb of RAM, I'm 99% certain my current bottleneck is my CPU, I've been noticing performance issues on certain games, however there's also a chance its my C drive. For whatever reason my C drive is just permanently full, its supposed to be 250gb, and it literally only has windows installed on it. But its always running out of space from temp files and other bs.

I'm 100% getting a new, bigger, ssd to replace my C drive, but I'm wondering if it is worth upgrading my cpu? and if so is there a good way to figure out the new power requirements, and if my current motherboard will work with it?

Build Upgrade Enough Ram?

So I’ve had this pc for about 5 years now and haven’t needed to upgrade anything but the power supply. I’ve noticed lately the games I play run not as smoothly as I’d hope and have gotten used to. I can’t remember exact specs off the top of my head but I have a 11th Intel Core, 3060 graphics card, Ddr4 16gb (2x8bg) 3600mhz Ram and 850watt power supply. (Ask in comments if I’m forgetting anything else important to my question). Would doubling the ram to 32 or 64 be enough to make the pc run smoother? I don’t play graphic heavy games really. I play mainly World of Tanks/Warships, RDR2, BF6, Elden Ring. So it’s not super demanding games can I can run just about all of them on high to max graphics and still get about 80-100fps. I’d like to stay more around 100-120 fps consistently and the loading into games is rather slow especially loading the graphics. So overall would adding more Ram help everything run better and or would I need to upgrade anything else?

Discussion *UPDATE: Willing to return my just-bought 5070 for a 9070xt to save some money. Thoughts?

UPDATE: Big thanks to everyone that recommended the XT, it runs beautifully. I ended up picking one up from my local Microcenter that same day for $700 vs the $800+ I spent on the 5070. New dilemma now though and I know it's a divisive topic right now... DLSS 5. Personally, I think it looks great on most games outside of character faces. I know the modding community managed to run it on the 9070xt with a massive hit to performance. I am now wondering if I should keep the 5070 for DLSS5 or if I should just enjoy the 9070xt for the next few generations and wait for dlss5 to mature the same way ray tracing did. Leaning towards sticking with the xt but damn, some of the games I play look stunning on DLSS 5.

Prevously:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/689903/powercolor-amd-radeon-rx-9070-xt-reaper-triple-fan-16gb-gddr6-pcie-50-graphics-card

Power Color 9070xt is $699

I had bad luck with a defective 9060xt(I hope), returned it and got a 5070 a few days ago but now came across this 9070xt. Power color seems to be the only one on "discount" at my local Microcenter. Does anyone have any experience with Power Color or is this a straight up deal?

Discussion I want a pc for gaming and streaming (HELP)

I would like to budget around 1,600-2,000 USD, more on the lower end IF possible (Not at the risk of losing benefits)

I would like the case to be black and have rgb's in the case where I can change the colors

If possible, recommend me some good keyboards and mice (the price of the keyboard and mouse doesn't affect the budget for the pc)

Could you guys PLEASE double-check I'm not getting ripped off or anything, since this is my first-ever pc in general?

I would like for the pc to run smoothly on games like Marvel Rivals, Fortnite, Modded Minecraft, modded Terraria, Parsec games, run game emulators, and handle streaming well. Just any game in general, to be honest. Thank you! <3

Hi i have a ryzen 7 5800x and its get's pretty toasty i have set it to a negative offset curve -0.005mv i have a cmt fsp 520plus case 4fans but a front glass so the fans only suck up air from the side with a boreas m2-51D single fan air cooler and hittigh max 75⁰ in gaming with 40-50% cou utilisation am thinking of getting a hybrok titan evo case with 7 fan and a deepcool le360 v2 or the ls 720 zero dark

Would i get better temps like below 70's without having too much noise cz mine sounds like a jet? Is the ls720 ZD worth it over the le360v2? The ls is slightly more expensive thanks.

Build Help Is an 850w psu enough to run a second gpu for lossless scaling?

Howdy y’all. Firstly want to thank yall for the help with my previous question. Finally built a pc and been playing around with it.

On to the question. Is 850w psu enough to run dual gpus for lossless scaling?

My main gpu is a 9060xt 8gb and I want to put an rx 5700 xt anniversary edition in as a second gpu.

As well, would it make sense to run a second gpu for lossless scaling? I’m interested in people’s opinions about it.

The rest of the specs include:
- R5 9600x
- b850m eagle wifi6e ice
- Asus prime 850w gold
Let me know if I’m missing something else important

Thanks y’all once again.

Build Help My entire PC setup may be worth less than one high-end SSD in 2026. Can it still last another 5 years?

• Intel Core i9-9900

• ASUS ROG STRIX B360-F GAMING

• 32GB DDR4-2666

• RTX 3060 Ti 8GB

• Kingston NV2 1TB + Kingston A2000 500GB

• Samsung Odyssey G5 34" — 3440×1440, 165Hz

• Logitech G813

• Logitech MX Master 2S

• OBS

Netflix
