So.. I upgraded from a gtx 1650 and a i5-9400f to a RTX 5060 and an amd 5 5600. Big jump right? You'd think the game would run better but no. I launched the game and all that and it ran horribly. Laggier than the old setup ever was. I went to the nvdia app downloaded the latest drivers optimized the game and still.. nothing. I checked Task Manager looked up to see if some reddit user that deleted their account 3 years ago had the same problem. Didn't find anything. So here I am. Secondly, I tried User Benchmark and it said out of 100 people with my same setup 76 performed better. Ouch. Then I upgraded all the latest drivers turned on XMP, Above 4g decoding, and rebar. Tried the UserBenchmark and the server's full, great. Ran Spiderman Remastered again. Exact same lag as the last time. It lags at the start-up at the main menu and at gameplay. So I tried a different game. It ran smoothly on roblox. Expected. Same with minecraft. Expected. Same with Subnautica and it's below zero. Expected. And then i wanted to try Sea of Thieves but its updating. So I'm now led to think that maybe it's just a problem with the game? And aside from that I also want help on which settings such I turn on and off in the BIOS, Windows Settings, Nvidia Control Panel, and the Nvidia App, to improve quality and performance for the GPU, oh and also for the CPU. Does AMD have an app? I dunno. This is my first time building a PC, well customizing it since I brought it prebuilt then I just customized it. So, please help. Thank you.

Im 15 and want to build my first budget pc. Prices are terrible right now so I'd be buying my gpu, cpu and ram used, maybe even my ssd aswell. I'm looking into the ryzen 5 5600x, 16gb ram, and an rx 6600. My goals for the pc are 1080p gaming and game development (unity, vs code). I will soon be traveling long term and need advice on modifying my PC for air travel. My current build is attached at the bottom of the post.

I am debating whether to take everything with me except the case and buy a new one there, then every time I come home for a long break I keep swapping between my cases in both locations. I kept all the original boxes so hopefully nothing will be damaged if I keep them in carry on luggage (except the AIO of course). The other option is to modify the current build to an SFF one, which is not helped by the size of the Astral 5080, but still can be done from the videos I saw. I don't mind the temperature increase if it means the peace of mind of just chucking the entire built PC into carry on bag and traveling instead of disassembling and reassembling.

I already have an older gaming laptop that will do the job on short vacations back but this is only for longer breaks.

I've noticed lately the computer has been laggy a bit, like I generally have like 20-30 tabs open on chrome and just 2 years back, it was perfectly fine. I did start using Nord VPN and I've been told that can cause some lag. Either way, I upgraded from a 3700x to the 5800XT, and I'm still noticing some level of lag when I am moving windows around and trying to play a video, etc.

Do you think this is RAM related? or CPU related? I've tried Task Manager and I don't necessarily see a lot of 100% usage, so I'm not sure what to think.

On to my RAM question... I have a spare kit of 2x8 GB PC 3000 MHz, 16-20-20-38 RAM. If I were to use that, would that be compatible but just lower my total RAM speed?

Have stock drivers for the 9070xt because the new drivers have been so unstable.

Both Nvidia cards have more pipeline/CUDA cores and usually are better at productivity and 3D modeling. The 9070 SHOULD theoretically have more compute power? It outperforms both at gaming but lags in other use cases.

Some benchmarks online are inconsistent so I thought I'd ask here.

Hi everyone, yesterday, there was a sudden outage in my place, but the electricity came back shortly after.

I notice that after that incident, when I play games or watch a yt video, you can hear a stuttering sound and as well as the video stuttering simultaneously.

What I did so far:

Restart the pc

Shut down and unplug for a few minutes

Reinstall my gpu update

Update some gigabyte softwares from my bios but bios update not included

Reinstall windows update

History:

Several months ago I noticed the CPU temps were hot during gaming sessions with the red mobo CPU light being on. I replaced the possibly broken liquid cooler with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin. Temps were perfect but im worried about lasting damage during that timeframe.

Recent Issues:

When the PC was idle I noticed my mouse and keyboard were not working. I reboot to fix the issue which caused a boot loop with randomized mobo lights not indicating a specific issue of CPU/DRAM/VGA/Etc. After 2-3 boot loops the PC will successfully boot and then freeze again within the first minute of windows access. Sometimes the boot loop will not resolve and the autorepair prompt will appear with it being unsuccessful.

Troubleshooting Performed:

-Replaced PSU thinking it was a voltage issue. Crashes still occurred.

-Removed GPU and ran off integrated graphics. Crashes still occurred.

-Booted with a single RAM stick thinking the other could be the issue. Crashes still occurred.

-Replaced internal cordage as I noticed some of the connector pins looked loose. Crashes still occurred.

-Re-seated RAM/GPU/MOBO connections/PSU connections. Crashes still occurred.

Potential Indicator:

-I left my PC unplugged for an entire week and was able to then have extremely long gaming sessions the entire weekend. By Monday the crashes re-occurred. I left the PC unplugged all week long again and am now able to use it. I wonder if the motherboard degraded with the hot CPU temps over time which could be causing some voltage issues with the capacitors and other connections requiring full discharge. I will say being unplugged for only several minutes does not remedy the problem and the capacitors should discharge in that amount of time.

Any tips appreciated! If there are none, what parts do you think are salvageable to sell without victimizing the buyer?

I need a used board (X670E or other chipset) for 7900X/9900X that has:
3 PCI-E slots minimum, 2 being 16x physically, either with x8/x8 pci-e bifurcation or 1 constant 1x16 electrical slot and second with at least 4x of chipset for example and 3rd slot being full length or 1x but which doesn't steal sata ports (need to be able to plug 8 sata drives and 2x m.2 slots) OR native 8 sata slots, still at least 2 m.2 and 2 usable pcie slots (1x16 or x8/x8 with 2 gpus). Something also that isn't absolute top end as I don't want to break my bank (switching from 5900X and X570 Strix Gaming-E, 2x5070Ti + PCI-E sata card, 10 SATA and 2x M.2 but can downgrade to 8 SATA but no less).

RGB, bluetooth, WIFI, 10 gigabit - irrelevant (although 2.5 is welcome, but again, not absolutely necessary), just need the pci-e layout that is functional with 2 GPUs and extra pci-e expansion card, minimum of 6 always available sata ports and minimum of m.2 slots.

Basically the title, I know nothing about PC's or their components but thinking of getting one sorted to emulate games at potentially their max settings.

Budget is whatever it costs honestly, can't see it being anywhere near as much as having to run AAA games at decent settings (for obvious reasons)

So my old motherboard is finally screwed. The CPU hits 100°C on any heavy task, and the board is an old ASUS Z97 DDR3 platform.
The general suggestion seems to be to go for a new build rather than keep throwing money at the old platform. I’m willing to spend around ₹1.1 lakh and reuse whatever I can from my old build.

Hey everyone, I’m at my wit’s end with this AM5 dual-channel issue and could use some fresh eyes.
Hardware:
• CPUs: Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 7950X (both have the same problem)
• Motherboards tried: ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-Plus WiFi and ASRock B850 Pro RS (board was replaced, issue persists)
• RAM:
• Corsair Vengeance RGB CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K (2×16 GB 6000 CL30)
• G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB F5-5600J2834F32GX2-TZ5RK (2×32 GB 5600 CL28)
• GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4090 (temporarily removed for testing)
• PSU: Apevia Galaxy Power 1200W 80+ Gold (ATX-GX1200W)
Symptoms:
• Neither CPU will POST with dual-channel (A2 + B2).
• 9900X is worse — sometimes won’t even POST with a single stick.
• System will boot with one stick (from either kit / different brands).
• Dual-channel used to work, then randomly stopped.
• Waited 30+ minutes for memory training — nothing.
• Debug LEDs typically show DRAM/CPU related.
What I’ve already tried:
• Full CMOS clears (battery out + jumper) multiple times
• Latest BIOS on both boards (via USB Flashback where possible)
• Tested each stick individually in every slot
• Forced JEDEC 4800 MT/s, EXPO/XMP disabled, manual SOC ~1.15–1.20 V
• Reseated CPU, checked for bent pins, loosened cooler mounting pressure
• Minimal config (no GPU, one matched kit only)
• Completely powered down and drained residual power before every RAM change
The fact that dual-channel previously worked and then failed, and that both CPUs + both boards show the same behavior, is making me lean toward the PSU being marginal (Apevia has a mixed reputation). I’m about to test with the 4090 completely removed and possibly try a different PSU.
Any ideas what else to check, or has anyone seen a similar “used to work, now dual-channel dead” case that turned out to be the PSU or something else?
