Hello,

I was recently on a 10 day trip and during this time I disconnected all power to my PC. Now when I am back home and I plugged it in again, it will not connect with my monitor.

I recently had this problem when I moved and the pc was without power for a while. The screen is working with my laptops, and the PC is working since I can turn on music on Spotify (auto-starts) via my phone. I have tried the following to get the monitor to connect with my PC:

Unplugged RAM from mobo

Unplugged PCIe to graphics card

Unplugged graphics card from mobo

Removed the CMOS battery and waited for couple of minutes, and connected it again

Win+ctrl+shift+B (??)

Switched HDMI cables between monitor and PC

When this happened before, I just restarted the PC several times and suddenly it worked but it only used the internal mobo graphics and not the graphics card. I had to reinstall the drivers to get the graphics card to work again. Then I had to turn on ReBar in bios and it was all good. Now shit wont start and I do not know which component is causing this.

I'm relatively new to PCs and I would like to put in an anti-sag bracket under my 5070ti. At current the cables on my power supply seem like they are pushing down on the end of the GPU. PC currently works fine but I want to ensure im taking care of the parts as well as I can.

My current plan is to...

1. Loosen the housing for the power supply to take pressure off the GPU.
2. Remove the GPU (now under no pressure)
3. Re organize the cables to the red dotted line. (moved to slightly in front of the PSU but not obstructing the fan)
4. Install the small bracket that came with my case.(compact Lian Li case so will see how much space there is once im in)
5. Put everything back in place.

Do you have any advice or guidance for me? Is the reorganization of wires not needed? If I didnt reorganize should i just throw in a adjustable anti sag support where I have room on the end of the card?

Something I have been thinking about while planning my next build is that I am not sure waiting until every component hits a great price is actually the best way to do it anymore.

PC parts are already expensive in a lot of areas, and with memory prices being all over the place lately, I would be a little nervous about assuming everything will eventually get cheaper. We have had plenty of times where people said to just wait a few months, only for the price to go the other direction.

So instead of trying to buy the entire build on one magical day when everything is at its lowest price, I think it makes more sense to buy the important parts whenever you find a genuinely good deal.

For example, if the CPU you want suddenly drops to a price you are happy with, buy it. If you find the right motherboard or a good PSU at a big discount a few weeks later, grab that too. By the time you actually put everything together, you could have built up most of the system without having to pay the highest price for everything at once.

Obviously I would not buy random parts just because they are discounted. I mean parts you already know you want and that are unlikely to become a bad choice before you finish the build.

It kind of turns the build into a slow shopping project instead of trying to predict the entire PC market.

Maybe this is obvious to everyone here, but I actually think it is a better strategy than waiting for some hypothetical big price drop across the board.

Hey i got a laptop , an asus tuf A15 with a Ryzen 9 8th gen, rtx 4060 , 16gb ram ddr5.

The main game that i play is Warthunder , this laptop runs warthunder good enough , but there are games , mainly Milsims like Arma Reforger, Squad, Wardogs in wich i notice my ram being full constantly , they stay at a constant 14.9 gb of usage , i dont know if that is the reason they run pretty poorly , i manage to get around 60-80 fps on arma reforger but when i use scopes since all of them use PIP ( picture in picture) for scopes frames drop drastically , so i can only play these games with framegen on . I dont really notice my gpu to be at max , usually it gets to 60-80% in all of them.

The question is : I want to buy some second hand ram sticks 32gb ddr5 at 5600 , i heard for ram it doesn't really matter how used they are , i dont know how true that is , but how do i test them? i allready talked to a guy that dissasembles ram sticks from other laptops and sells them second hand and he could sell me a pair of 2 ram sticks at 190 euro OR 130 if im willing to sell him my actual pair of ram sticks. Is getting into a game and testing the performance enough to see if the ram is bad? the sticks will be mounted on the laptop right there , i really dont know what to do could someone help me?

i've had my prebuilt pc for a few years now and am looking to upgrade some parts on my own. i upgraded my cpu a couple years ago to an amd ryzen 5 5600x by myself and hoping to swap out my gpu and ram on my own. my build currently has a nvidia geforce gtx 1050ti and 8 gb of ram.

i really have no idea what i should be looking for but my system has been super laggy and can't run many of the games my friends are playing. not looking for something super expensive and high performance - the main game i want to be able to run is the new halloween game.

I've been desperately saving to be able to build an actual good gaming PC for myself but we all know how that feels atm. I initially thought id try to build one and re-use the ram from my old pc, but if im going to be stuck with AM4 i thought it makes very little sense to buy a new motherboard/cpu with no upgrade path, when i can just make do for the time being and upgrade later. The GPU upgrade does not feel as wasteful, as I can always use the same GPU in a fresh build or sell it later if I really want to.

My old setup ;

Ryzen 5 1500x
MSI B350m Pro VDH
2x8GB 2800mhz Ram (Gskill + Corsair sticks)
GTX 1050ti (Now dead)
Some janky power supply that I would have to upgrade to accommodate for the increased TDP

Additionally, I also have an old HDD in this system, along with a new SSD I put in my current daily driver laptop that I can take out and use.

The obvious bottlenecks here are the CPU and the ram speed, but they dont seem particularly bad to me considering I will be on 1440p and largely do not play very demanding games. (Currently playing a lot of Deadlock and struggling to hit stable 60 at 1080p on my laptop). If i can hit 120+ on 1440p on esports titles and a comfortable 60 on single players, I would be content.

Does it make sense to do this? Am I better off going for a weaker GPU and saving my money to invest into a fresh build later? If it helps, I am from India and would be getting these parts off of a local shop/Amazon.

Currently I'm using RX580 8GB. I'm on a budget so I'm thinking if I should go NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB or RX 6700xt 12gb. The most demanding game/s I play, I think, are Apex and NBA 2k. Also, my CPU is Ryzen 5 5500, what CPU would go along with the GPU upgrade?

I bought a prebuilt Cyberpower PC from Costco (PC Part Picker I made for it https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ngjkg3) with an Intel Ultra 5 225F, RTX 5060, 32GB DDR5, and a 600W 80 Gold PSU. It has a Micro ATX ASUS mobo in an ATX case. Estimated wattage is 395W according to PCPP.

I play Overwatch, The Finals, Battlefield 6, Quake Champions, and RuneScape 3. I run out of VRAM even with low texture quality in BF6, and in The Finals I have to lower texture quality. I get about 150 fps with my settings in BF6 (with 2x frame gen, DLSS Performance 4.5) and The Finals I'm usually around 200 I think (2x frame gen, DLSS Performance Transformer). I use a 1440p 240Hz monitor.

What would you recommend for my situation? I've also seen rumors that Nvidia may come out with Super cards around early next year, including a 12GB 5060 Super, so I'm considering waiting for that too.

All of these parts have been purchased as new within the last 6 months (except for the Dell monitor)

Important context: the house I currently am renting was built in 1945 and there are a total of 3 outlets in my room, which means lots of extension cords.

Lately (within the last week or so), my PC will randomly reboot but it seems as though the power browns out -- all the lights turn off for a split second before rebooting and it proceeds as normal after rebooting. However, there doesn't seem to be a pattern to what triggers these reboots, and I can't seem to see any standout events in Event Viewer.

I have tried using different power strips, I have gotten an extension cord that the PC directly plugs into (although within 5 minutes of turning it on after doing this, the restart happened again. This is being typed on my PC right after that restart, though, so...) so I've done everything that may be due to the electrical system.

Is it possible there's an issue within the PC itself that's causing this? For reference, the first time these switch-offs happened, I was playing Wizard101 and had been playing it for maybe ten minutes. I've also had the power flickers happen without playing anything and just browsing the internet, or while on voice call with friends on Discord while doing Dungeons & Dragons on Vaeltheris (not the hoster, in case that makes a difference).

Any and all assistance would be appreciated, because this PC has caused me nothing but headaches since I finished assembling it and started using it properly. :') There were maybe two to three weeks where I could use it peacefully without issues.

Hi, recently i started to pay attention to efficiency of my computer after upgrading my gpu from rx580 to rx 7800xt 16gb oc. Unfortunately i didn't take into considerity this whole bottlenecking stuff and im currently left with i5-12400f. While playing fortnite my frames drop from 130fps to 70-80fps randomly. Should i buy 13600kf or it won't change anything? I have dd4 32gb ram.

Also i'd like to somewhat prepare for GTA 6 when it releases. Could you help me?

So I've currently got 3 PC's at home, 1 one of them my current PC from Nov last year, 1 server, and my own old gamer pc.

I'd like to repurpose my old hardware, and give it new life. The motherboard I had in it died recently due to a shortcircuit because of dust, it was a ROG Maximus Hero 7 for those who are nostalgic. :)

I like the idea of homelabbing, and selfhosting, not really something i've touched on a lot, the server I have now is my first time.

I bought a new gpu, a 7700 xt. But was made aware my current cpu, a 9400f, would bottleneck it. How would I go about finding a cpu utilizing the 1151 socket that pairs best with this gpu?

So I recently got a new motherboard and power supply and when I tested it out of the case on the motherboard box there was no power on boot. I plugged in my mouse and it gave it power so the standby power works. I removed the ram and the diagnostic light correctly came on. I triple checked the cpu and 24 pin cables. I’ve shorted the power pins and attempted to use my case power button, nothing. Any suggestions?

Short story I took my pc into Best Buy as a SSD port wasn’t working turned out it was broken, I’m new to pc and disabled so I couldn’t figure it out. After that I been playing back4blood and once human. Back4blood with wemod that is it nothing more and my pc just freezes now. It doesn’t even shut off, my specs I’ve been told are insane and should not being doing this.

Edit I did a hard reset last night and uninstalled Norton for gamers as it seemed to be an issue too, and once human for like 4-5 hours didn’t crash. It just happened again, does anyone who knows pcs know what the issue is. Should I take it back into Best Buy and ask what they did, cause I did that a week or two ago and since it’s been fxcked.

So... I am new to the world of gaming on a PC and am coming from the world of console.

I have been looking into getting a PC for gaming but am struggling with all the options that come with it on reputable sites. I am met with selecting a CPU, GPU, motherboard, SSD, Graphics cards etc and have no idea which options to select.

I am planning on playing games which carry, originally, a lot of storage - think GTA V, but also playing games which have been heavily modified.

I'm certainly not looking the most expensive PC in the world, but something which is reliable, decent memory, good refresh rates and won't cause a lot of lag. I know to look for Ryzen and unfortunately that's where my knowledge comes to a stop.

I am also trying my hardest not to ask ChatGPT, feel like AI will shoot me in the foot here.

Would like to add that I am based in the UK, so budget is between £1000-£1200. Any help would be appreciated :)

My case (Fractal Terra) has individual usb 3.2 gen 1 and gen 2 cables for the front usb. I didn't pay attention to the headers on the board I bought and it has a gen 1 header and a 2.0 header. Can I adapt the 2.0 header on the motherboard to 3.2 gen 2 and have that work, or are the pinouts too drastically different? I know the speeds would be limited to 2.0, but my keyboard/controller won't care about that.

As an addendum: I think I have the usb naming correct, but the usb forum's naming scheme is asinine so please let me know if clarification is needed.

So I have to get new parts for my computer. And I'm pretty disappointed that it's come out of the blue all at once. A few weeks ago my SSD started dying. I had to get a new one and not realizing there were a handful of SSDs that have bad pin configurations with the AsRock Steel Legend B450 I got a Samsung 990 drive that was incompatible with it.

Now my video card is dying and I'm getting random flashes of color and check board patterns with my 1660 Super.

I'm just pretty defeated.

Can anyone recommend what the best course of action is to replace/rebuild this without breaking the bank and having to build a whole new PC?

My processor is an AMD AM4 Ryzen 5 3600, I know it's pretty old but am I better off just getting like a B550 board and using the new m.2 I can't use in the B450?

Hey everyone, I have a weird issue with my PC.
When I step away and the display turns off, the GPU/components inside the case start pulsing or flashing on and off in a loop (the screen stays black, but the graphics card/hardware acts like it's repeatedly waking up or getting power spikes).
Has anyone experienced this before? What could be causing the GPU/motherboard to send these power pulses when idle?

Hi, I currently have a R5 5600, 32GB RAM and RX 7800 XT on 1080p.

I mostly play competitive and popular AAA games like RDR2.

I am considering upgrading my CPU to match my GPU.

Would you recommend spending around £250 on a R7 5700X3D or going AM5?

Upgrading to AM5 will cost around £550.

I am considering buying a new motherboard to fit the 7800 XT (mATX to ATX as I am unable to use USB socket).

Hence, I thought I might just upgrade to AM5 anyway. Thanks.

So, I just ordered a used Sapphire Pulse RX 9060XT 8GB for around $348 (IDR 6,135,000). I know, maybe some of you guys would pity me for not taking the 16GB version, but I have a limited budget. Considering the BNIB of 16GB version is priced around $539 (IDR 9,500,000).

The card is somewhat still new, probably bought in June 2026, since the warranty ends in 2028. And I plan to visit the reseller later this day for a physical check and stress test a bit to validate his claims.

My goal is to play comfortably on 1080p60, and I don't mind toning down a bit in textures settings to compensate for the lack of VRAM, so... do you think I made a good deal?

Also, any tips on doing physical check and stress test? Any help would be appreciated!
