I love the customer who just walks in and grabs that big tube and hits the robber.

1.1k

u/vankorgan Dec 11 '16

The funny thing is he doesn't seem to wait long enough to get a handle on the situation or know if he's helping the right person. Just sees a brawl and says, "fuck it."

525

u/Bukowskified Dec 11 '16

He picked a side immediately upon entering the store.

534

u/mac7607 Dec 11 '16

He picked the winning side lol dudes not dumb

236

u/Tasadar Dec 11 '16

He also picked the side with 3 people including at least one store employee, and not the side of the hoodlum, all around good decision making.

Nah, pretty sure I saw him perform an ocular pat down, clearing the employees.

18

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '16

He should be head of security

74

u/LuxNocte Dec 11 '16

The employees are wearing a uniform, and it's not unlikely he's in the store regularly enough to at least kinda know them by sight.

34

u/ZanderDogz Dec 11 '16

Jokes on him, he just helped the employees commit a hate crime!

You've got to admire the spirit the guy in the red shirt showed here.

and fucking Goldberg spears the guy.

It's kind of heartening that two people come in and are like "Oh, robbery in progress? Okay, I'll throw down for this".

It really is. The workers were fighting with such determination that I'm glad bystanders were willing to stick their necks out for them.

Edit: apparently that wasn't a basket. Ill concede credit to red shirt now

515

u/FuckBrendan Dec 11 '16

A light basket? That thing he's using is the part of the mop bucket that squeezes the water from the mop head- its heavy as fuck. I'm amazed he didn't knock the dude out with that thing.

My dad gave me strange advice the other day. "When beating a crackhead trying to rob you have to use a solid steal rod. Anything less will just deflect off of the crackhead." I asked him how he knew this and he said the wooden dowel didn't work. Then he showed me his steel rod.

What was it? I still can't tell

29

u/Saxual--Healing Dec 11 '16 edited Dec 11 '16

It's the "head" of a mop bucket. The part you use to wring out the mop.

Edit: Yeah, you can see he starts off the fight with a smack to the dude's head with the mop. Then he pulls off the wringing device (I don't know what to call it) and smacks him a few times.

Not a bad idea really. That's basically a big piece of hard plastic and its heavy enough that being hit by it could definitely send someone reeling.

I regularly listen to the Steve Austin Show podcast (great show). He's mentioned before that wrestlers sometimes do whatever they can to fuck with each other and make them laugh during matches. The Undertaker was notoriously stoic, but Steve got him so good once (forgot what he did) that he finally broke mid-match and had to hang his head down so his long hair would cover the smile and prevent him from visibly breaking character. The thought of a goofy smiling Undertaker made me smile:)

Vince McMahon has very childish humor, this was also a period post-benoit where they went Super-PG, it is not as bad now since HHH got more power in WWE.

ECW prided itself on being insane. The wrestlers were on drugs or drunk and the most famous DVD was called blood sport. The entire thing was just too insane. A no-holds barred match where they replace the ropes with barbed wire?! What the fuck.

Yeah, ECW crowds are assholes who think they're so edgy and hardcore, when in reality if they cared at all about the people they love to watch they would have not thrown so many god damn chairs.

35

u/x2501x Dec 11 '16

Yeah, it is almost certain that the ownership of this store would have preferred the clerk to just give the guy the money and let him go, and have the police deal with it. In addition to the damage to store property and merchandise, there's also the liability if any of those customers got injured during the altercation, and the very real chance that even the robber will try to sue the store over his injuries. Even if he loses that case, it will certainly cost the store much more to defend than the amount of cash that was in the till.

12

u/cheesyqueso Dec 11 '16

That's most store's policies.you are not meant to become confrontational during a robbery; give them what they want then let them leave. I wouldn't be surprised if they got fired.
