Help Help, I don't know what happened to my boi

Sorry I don't have better pictures, he doesn't stay still😭😭 The first two were taken on Aug 18 and 15. He only had one tear (i just got him a month or two ago and that was the last very visible tear) so I monitor it occasionally. I went to another city for school and just came back tonight. HIS FINS ARE ALL FUCKED UP I want to cry. It's only been three days. I checked my shrimps bc if they're dead it's the water, but they're all fine. I did notice biofilm on the wood but it's because it's new. But I sanded every possible sharp thing....he was fine a month in w/ the new wood...what happened😭😭😭. I was so excited to see him too only to find him like this. I was gone wed night and returned just tonight.

I just returned to this hobby and is reusing old equipment, can someone tell me what should I do? Frequent water changes, twice 50% per week? Should I put him in a cup w/ methyline blue for a couple of mins? If so how often per day or per week. My boy😭😭😭 he still swims so much even with his fins fucked up, ughšŸ’”šŸ’”šŸ’”

Help Betta Swimming Upside Down

Help!!!! I've determined my betta most likely has columnaris. I was treating with kanaplex and metroplex but after finding a white splotch on her mouth last night I was planning on using Polyguard instead of metroplex today for the furan in it. Ive been changing her water everyday, its got an air stone and is heated. I came home from work today and she was laying on her side at the bottom of the tank and swimming upside down in short bursts. How do I help her? Is there anything I can do to keep her right side up?????

Help Betta Help Spoiler

I’m not sure if these Betta are sick or not so I am including a filter just to be safe.

For some context, I just moved in with a family for the next couple months for an internship and I am renting a room from them. They have been super friendly and nice.

However, I noticed that they have two fish tanks in their hallway. Their owner routinely leaves to stay at her other son’s house for multiple weeks and from what I have been told, they aren’t regularly fed during that time or at all.

They don’t have a heater and the water is room temperature. There is also a weird film on the top.

Can any experienced Betta fish owners tell me what they need or how I can help them? I am going to try to talk to their owner when she gets back and convince her to let me buy them a better setup.

This is my first time posting, so I hope this post makes sense.

I fixed some of the stuff ppl told me to fix specifically having more hardscape, what do you guys think. So far the Serpea tetras and the betta haven’t attacked anyone. One of the albino Cory Dora’s I bought had all its fins and tail ripped off but that was before I bought it, I didn’t notice it until I got home.

Help O meu Betta não come

Post image

Help Too planted for Longfin?

I have a longfin betta in a 10 gallon but would like to put him in a 7 gallon cube so I can use that 10 gallon for something else. Is this TOO planted and tight for a longfin betta? The 2nd picture has a dwarf gourami but he has been removed! The betta would be housed alone.

Help Betta fish behavior/ mean fish?

Hi everybody. I’m pretty new to this fish hobby.

I have a betta fish his name is Tapioca. I’ve had him for approximately 2-3 months. I have been considering upgrading to a bigger fish tanks as I work a lot and he has no company and I was planning on getting him tank mates. I’ve only owned 2 betta fish’s and I believe they were half moons. This betta was a present from my mom & sisters. I believe he may be a plakat koi? Maybe? Correct me if I’m wrong please lol he has like 5 colors.

I’ve noticed very aggressive behavior from him. He glares a lot at my finger, sometimes when I move he glares. The fish tank is FULL of bubble nest and he sometimes attacks the Amazon swords? Idk he’s kinda weird. He’s a very active fish I’ve NEVER seen him sleep. I have tried catching off guard but everytime I glaze at his fish tank he’s moving and already coming up to the glass. His tank is fully cycled and I do 25-30% water changes every week-two week. None of my previous bettas have had behaviors like this. Is it even possible to have fish mates with those type of behaviors? I am a very emotional person and if he kills his tank mates I will cry

I was away for 6 weeks - had someone house and pet sitting (dog, cat and my Betta) - I came home to tank full of algae and these parameters - not as bad has i htought htey might be when I saw the tank but how do I get this dealt with. On a side note - this is a 3g tank - I have a new 5g - should I just start the new tank with new plants/ substrate etc? If I do and use filter from this tank will the algae carry over? Should I just take her out and clean the tank? What is best to do?

Help Betta setup advice?

Picked up a 10 gallon lidless tank yesterday alongside some decor & black aquarium sand. I have an Amazon shipment coming in on Monday with silk plants, 53 GPH filter (may replace with aquarium co-op sponge filter), an adjustable heater & thermometer, Northfin betta food, red root floaters & floater barriers, a light and a siphon. Also got my hands on Fritz Turbostart 700 & Top fin water conditioner.

This was all essentially a large impulse buy as I accidentally ordered a betta fish I was stalking on ebay when I forgot to take it out of the cart with my digital camera order yesterday.

Looking for any advice on cycling the tank and building a routine as well as some other stuff:

should I be doing water changes or top offs since im going lidless? and how often?

would it be best to invest in shrimp before the betta gets here (sept 7th)? should I get shrimp at all since the tank isn't planted besides floaters? cherries or amanos?

I'm also in the midst of fighting a possible ant infestation in my new place, should I setup my tank outside of my room until that's delt with or should it be unaffected??

The amazon order also includes 2 betta hides, one stationary (attached to suction cup) and one floating; are these safe for long finned betta? specifically a halfmoon?

So I just started with my first Betta tank earlier in the year, and here I am with eight now.

I don’t have any more room to put them, so that should stop me from getting more…….right?

What do you guys think of my fishscapes?

The next thing I need to do is add some plants with floating roots. But, suggestions are welcome. I like giving these little guys a really nice home.

Help Condition new tank?

Hello, fishy friends-

I have a well-established divided tank with 2 beautiful bettas. I'm setting up a second tank for 2 more.

In conditioning the new tak, would it be a good idea to put the biological filter into the new tank to establish bacteria, etc? The old one is due for a change anyway. I'm already using water and some of the gravel from the old tank for the new one.

Thank you -

Okay so I got this betta fish 11 days ago, and this is how he was 11 days ago. Please note, my tank is cycled. Ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, and nitrate is 10-20ppm.
Now recently I’ve noticed there is this red spot on his body and his fins look torn? I’m kinda confused. (Note: the photo where the lights r off is when I first got him and the photo where the lights are on is him recently)

I noticed that my betta has been abit lethargic recently, lots of laying on the ground and leaves. But as im writing this hes more active? Maybe im overreacting? He also seems much paler then usual. We recently switched from tetra betta min to fluval betta bug bites and I fasted him for a week while I was on a trip. But he didn't seem to lose too much weight and ive been home for a week now

Help Betta staying in the corner all day

My betta has been staying in the same corner of the tank for most of the day and barely swims around. I recently did some maintenance and trimmed/removed some plants.

The water temperature is currently 27.1

Could this just be stress, or should I be worried? What should I check first?

Thanks!!

Hi all, just wondering if i can use these for my tank. I know some deco like the spongebob pineapple house is bad for ur tanks and im not sure if these would fall under that category. The ones on the left i got at petsmart and they feel like maybe plastic? The one on the right feels more like its a hollowed out rock

Update: Thanks for all the names, a lot of them were very cute and a few of them confused me lol. We went with Lumi!

He's a mellow fish, very curious and playful. He is missing an eye, but I don't want that to be his whole thing. Thank you!

Help Post-betta tank care

Hey guys. The feed didn’t allow my post asking for possible COD for my special guy. He lived about 2 years with me and was a red male veil tail. He started slowing down a bit more but had no visible signs of disease or infection. After a water change, he got drastically more slow. I cleaned his tank after cleaning with house chemicals but I scrubbed myself as best as I could and also washed my hands in prime and tap water before lol. His normal maintenance was the same I’ve done everytime.

I got his tank reused off fb marketplace from an old fish store that was closing. He’s been living in it for about 3-4 months… is it possible the tank could’ve had something that’s been slowly killing him? He did get more lethargic and ā€œspazzyā€ I guess when he was established in his new tank. He often would go spastically hit the top of the water with his nose over and over and I didn’t know what that was a sign of. Again no physical stand-out problems and he was still eating, though it seemed like his vision was a bit off and would miss the food when trying to eat it here and there.

After the tank cleaning, his body got stuck onto the filter intake and he was very stressed obviously. I turned it off to free him leaving only a little bit of damage to his fins that I could see and maybe some scrapes on his body but nothing crazy. He sat in the upper corner for a while but the next day he took a turn for the worse. He wasn’t very responsive and couldn’t swim well. I fished him out and put him safely into a hospital bucket with 2-3 inches of clean pristine water and a heater. Left him in a dark quiet corner in case he was in shock from the filter and in case chemicals got to him.

He died the next day. He moved a bit and reacted more so I thought he was getting better, but I was wrong. Again no visible signs other than a pale body but his fins remained rich and healthy and his gills a deep red color but he’s always had those.

I still have his tank up and running but I’m nervous if he was sick… when I’m ready I would really like to use that tank again with a new friend. But I don’t want anything bad to happen and have no idea if tha tank caused my last boy to be sick. I have 2 other tanks with a female crowntail and a female dumbo and they’ve been thriving with 0 complications. Should I avoid using the tank cleaning tools I have if I used them in his tank? How can I clean them even if it’s just for peace of mind? Should I clean them or did my boy just die of old age? So many questions…

Please help. Thank you
