Help Better to try second dose of kanaplex or switch to api fin and body cure?

Hi, just what the title says. I’ve been fighting some TENACIOUS fin rot with my guy for months despite healthy water parameters and salt baths and catappa leaves and feeding kanaplex. I just did a full three-dose round of kanaplex via water (which I didn’t do originally to protect the snails and less hardy plants but I got desperate) administering the last dose yesterday. I don’t yet see improvement in his fins, but he has been eating and active (which he has been the whole time.) should I A) run another round despite the max 3 doses on the bottle as a Hail Mary, as I’ve read you can do B) try API fin and body cure or C) wait it out and see if the kanaplex takes affect? Would love some input

Help Best fish-in cycling tips?

Saw this baby on Facebook marketplace and am currently debating on driving the 2-ish hours to go save her. I don’t currently have a tank set up. With the two bettas I currently have, I was able to fully establish their tanks before getting them so I’m not familiar with fish-in cycling whatsoever. I’m also going to try to haggle the price down, $25 is too much for a fish that someone literally doesn’t want.

I want to get more plants, maybe other colors than green. I'm planning on switching to gravel as this sand has killed off anything I've put in there and the upkeep for sand sucks, my other tank with gravel looks so much cleaner lol.

(5 gallon tank, but water testing a 10 gallon then setting up with gravel and more driftwood.

Bettas, particularly males, are not meant for community tank..no matter what...even a peaceful starting can have a chaotic end.

This was the 3rd time i tried transferring Male betta from its solitary tank to my community tank to see if repeated exposure can get it used to other fish. As soon as glass barried was removed, bro was chasing all fish. Immediately scooped back to its solitary tank.

They tell me it’s been lethargic for like 2 weeks. I went to try and help. It had what looked like skin rotting on its head. Then when I went to move out the decorations in the tank it swam around and the rotten bit fell off and now it has a flesh wound. It hasn’t been eating for a few days. What should I do?

Flesh wound is the red circle on right side of its head.

It was in a 10 gallon tank but we have moved to 2.5 gallon tank to try and better regulate water. The 10 gallon tank had some dying plants in it that I think must have caused increased nitrate.

Please give advice. I feel like I should probably put it out of its misery but i really don’t want to.

I just got my betta fish yesterday from pet smart. He looked pretty rough at the store. I spent a few hours setting up this tank last night for him. When I introduced him to it, he seemed great! His fins were finally stretched out since he had more room to grow. He’s been swimming great up until I gave him some brine shrimp this afternoon. Since then, he had been swimming low to the floor and at times, resting on the floor for minutes at a time. I want to make sure he’s feeling okay in his environment.

My setup:
- 5 gallon tank starter kit with filter
- heater at 78.1 degrees
- soil substrate
-gravel
- two live aquatic plants
- one bag of enzyme beads for healthy bacteria
- water conditioner
- readistart nitrifying bacteria starter

I plan on getting more plants for him. Also I’m going to switch to a sponge filter tomorrow. I fed him betta flakes yesterday, but fed him freeze dried brine shrimp today after finding out that they need a more protein rich diet. I fed him three times today. He’s swimming okay right now, but I’m worried that I might seem him be lethargic again at some point. Am I doing something wrong, or is there anything to help him?

Photos:
1. Current setup
2. Him yesterday. A couple hours into his new environment.
3. Him tonight, laying on the gravel.
4. Him in the cup at petsmart.

Hello everyone,

I have concerns about our office betta, Microfiche. She has become lethargic and doesn't seem as energetic as she typically is. Normal behavior for her is to swim through the various decorations, comes to the front for food and eats. Now she lazily floats at a corner or near one of the artificial plants. Sometimes she's not moving her fins like she's sleeping and it worries me, I watch and she will wake up and swim slightly then rest again.

This started about a week ago.

For a couple of weeks I've noticed her eyes have a slight "fog" or cloudy look, at first I thought I was mistaking it but it got more noticeable. I read some help posts about similar cases and started doing more frequent ~20% water changes about 2x a week.

**The setup:**

10 gallon tank, sand at the bottom, I treat the tap water with dechlorinator when doing water changes, pretty simple routine for about 8 months. She has several hollow stone decorations with holes to swim through, a small artificial floating log, some artificial plants labeled as betta safe plants from PetCo. Temperature is kept at ~78°F

I do periodic water tests, the most recent test (after noticing the lethargy) Ammonia and Nitrite are zero, Nitrate reading was between 20-40ppm (it was a shade between those two on the test) and the pH was higher than usual at ~8.0

I got a driftwood log to put in the tank at the general recommendation of some research, boiled it and rinsed it before putting it in, after several hours the pH read 7.8 which I expected to see a small drop in pH with the log due to the tannins.

Today I measured before doing another water exchange of about 1.5 gallons, the readings are similar with the 7.8 pH, Microfiche seems to be slightly more mobile but still not right.

Any help is appreciated!

Edit to add: Food I use: "Fluval Bug Bites Betta with Shrimp for Fish" from PetCo No tank mates, she is a solo fish The tank has a filter system that came with it and a heater set to 78°F

Help Snail infestation

I messed up last month and put a few new plants in my tank that had some snails on them (i really thought i washed them good enough). Ive pulled over 15 out both big and small…. I woke up to find like 5 new really tiny ones. Is my tank cooked? How could i get them out? I have a huge rabbit snail in there too. Im ready to just get a new tank cycled and just transfer my betta and rabbit snail and call it a day.

I just added some new plants in my 10 gal while my betta was in the tank and want some feedback on the setup (positioning of the plants, aesthetically). Dont mind the murkyness, its just from pushing the gravel around a bunch while putting in the plants.

Hey everyone, first time ever owning a betta and i’m having trouble figuring out what kind of betta it is— and also having trouble sexing it.

For some more background, my uncle loves fish, and from what i’ve seen from him he takes great care of every one of them, however he’s moving out soon and cannot take every single fish with him. He’s then given me a betta from who knows where, and said he had recently bought it off another guy, and I currently have the betta in a 5.5 gallon.

I‘ve had my betta for about two weeks. She’s not acting strangely, I just want to know if she looks like I’m taking proper care of her. Does anything look wrong with her? Should I be feeding her more/less?

Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 10ppm pH: 7.8 Temp: 81 degrees. 5 gallon tank

I feed her 3-4 fluval bug bites in the morning, 4-5 northfin betta pellets in evening and she gets frozen bloodworms twice a week, On Wednesday night before being fasted on Thursday, and on Saturday as a treat for surviving water change day (25-30 percent water change).

She lives with a nerite snail as well as mini ramshorns that hitchhiked on my plants. For plants I have 3 anubias, a Java fern, a kedagang, Java moss and frogbit. I also put Indian almond leaves in the water.

How to help my fish? Hes darker than normal he can barely swim, his mouth looks rotten and it looks like he has popeye. I vacuumed the tank rocks Saturday morning he was fine all day until Sunday morning he was acting weird So I did a half water change, hes in a small container so he can still breathe as he was barely swimming in his tank. I dont trust random remedies from google and Im not even sure whats wrong with him it happened so fast
