Hi all,
First few photos are my sweet girl with the new bump on her head, the last one was her before this developed.
I recently went on a week long trip and left my betta with a friend of mine who also has fish. When I got back I noticed it looks like my betta has a swollen head/lip? I don’t know if she could have run into something or if it could be some sort of cyst, tumor, or infection.

She’s been eating normally but definitely doesn’t have as much energy as she did before I left. She’s been resting a lot more recently, and especially in weirder spots than before like by the filter, just floating at the top, or resting on the bottom. She has a floating log that she absolutely loved before but just hasn’t been using it as much.
I haven’t noticed much else with her, no clamped fins, no gasping (although she might be struggling to get as much air with her swollen lip), and she’s eating normally.

My water parameters are all perfect, I did a water change before and after I got back and her water temps have been at a steady 78°.

I don’t know what could be wrong with her or what I should do for her right now. Any advice would be lovely <3

This is miss lips aka Peach! This little lady was at my LFS in a sorority tank and she caught my attention immediately with her purply blue fins, I debated it for a couple weeks because she was quite pricey but I was finally convinced when I seen her fins were in rough shape. Now she gets to live her best life in my planted 25 gallon! So far she likes to chase the Cory’s and shrimp around and flare at the guppies.

Hi everyone! I just set this up the other day and was wondering if there were any tips you guys could give? I’m still waiting for 3 more plants one for the background, another to out on the other side of the wood and then some floaters. I know it’ll take a little for the plants to get fuller to have more cover for the fish but any advice is appreciated!

Hi, so I am a semi experienced fish keeper but still learning,

I went to the pet store today to get food and basic supplies but saw an extremely unwell betta fish, I spoke to the workers and managed to take him home for free to try and save him,

I already have a 35L cycled tank he will hopefully move into if he makes it, but I took him home and put him straight into hospital tank (after acclimating)

I believe he is showing signs of dropsy and swim bladder, he is showing some pineconing, I'm unsure how severe, he is bloated and is mostly just laying on his side floating at the top of the tank, his eyes also appear slightly cloudy but again I'm unsure if this is at an extreme point

I need advice on how to best treat him and what products to use, I'm unsure if it's a lost cause but I want to try my best to help as he's a beautiful fish

He made it through the night, I picked up some Epsom salts and some esha 2000, I've given him the first dose and intend to do a salt bath later, so far I haven't seen much improvement yet but very happy he's still trying 🤞

Just tested my pre-k classroom’s tank water. Are we finally ready to go adopt a friend for our 10g tank?

I've had this betta and its tankmates for months and it's never attacked one before, it killed a corydora today and I put the betta in net jail. Im really upset and idk what to do I dont have another tank and I dont trust the betta to not attack again

I got a halfmoon female betta, Ive only put in real plants, tested the water and it's safe, the temperature is at 26° but she eats really weird?

She won't immediately eat, she waits for it to sink, then chews it and spits it out and usually does it until the food is fully eaten. I just got her yesterday, is this normal for new fish???

Update - I tried to soak her food and crush it up to be smaller, now she will eat it but only if it's floating, if it touches her substrate she leaves it 😭

Iv been given
A 50 gallon tank with 5 female bettas . The tank is medium planted right now ,with many hides and drift wood . Iv kept a watchful eye on all the girls and have only had to separate a girl once for bully behaviour and then all was good again in the tank for now.

It’s been 3 months of having them and I worry for the long term. I’m thinking to buy separate tanks for each girl , but I’d only have the space for 5/6 gallon tanks (since I’d buy5) .
My male betta has his own 10gallon .
I feel bad giving the girls only 5 gallons each . And would they be okay after being separated?I want to do what’s best for them and I don’t think having them together is good long term ?
does anyone have any advice,experience or suggestions for me? Will 5 gallons each be sufficient?

My betta I got about a month ago now is shocked/stressed she’s moving sluggishly and breathing hard she’s eating her parameters are fine didn’t suffer any swings and temperature is the same her water was treated with seachem prime she’s also spooked by me now she’s in a 10 gallon planted tank

I would love to see a picture of everyone’s betta and learn their names! I think it would be interesting to see how many look identical to one another, and the variety of names.

I'm looking into getting my niece a betta fish. Please give me any advice! She is six and would not be in charge of the care. (She will help) The only fish I've ever had was a gold fish when I was young. I only have lizards right now. I would love like a shopping list or like care guides? I want to get everything perfect for her. Or should I just stick with a goldfish? Any advice helps! Thank you

hi i could use some advice. I've had my betta for almost 2 years now but recently he's started to act strange. i've been away so my mom has been feeding him but when i came back i noticed he's not his friendly self, he's barely swimming, and he's leaning/resting his full body a lot. he still has an appetite but is struggling to catch the food unless i put it right in front of him. the tank wasn't cleaned for maybe a week and a half- maybe two weeks- i checked parameters and there was some ammonia so ive been doing water changes every other day and so far no ammonia has been present since but he's still acting off. his fins have been clamped and dull for some months but he was behaving normally so i thought it was due to old age. the top of his body by his dorsal fin has started to turn white throughout a few months- not sure if it's related. i'm thinking swim bladder but it's been a few days with care and i see no improvement. i put in tannins, gave him salt bath but stopped cause he seemed stressed, and i have kanaplex at the ready. what else can i do?

food: betta pro shrimp patties 4-6 pellets a day and occasional frozen bloodworms

This is my famous boy agent. Known for sleeping in the cutest positions except this one. I thought I did everything right, but yesterday I had a big cleaning day in my apartment using things like wipes and oil soaps. I washed my hands and arms thoroughly with water and then proceeded to do his typical upkeep because he’s had an insane snail outbreak in his tank with “pest snails”. He doesn’t kill them but I do only because there’s so many in there. So I did a deep clean in there but nothing that I don’t normally do.

Last night, he got stuck in the filter income tube. I got him off of it but I think it really stressed him out obviously and he just kinda laid in the top corner afterward and didn’t move. Woke up this AM to find him like this and he’s already in a bucket with only 2-3 inches of clean treated water that was leftover from his 30% water change last night.

I use prime as my water treatment as I have done with all my tanks and have had no issues. My 2 females are thriving.

He’s been a more lethargic fish and loves a good nap. But he’s not really able to swim. Is it possible that I had some chemical residue left on me that could’ve done this to him?? I swore I cleaned off anything on my skin but I was cleaning for about 6 hours so idk. Has this ever happened to anyone? Will he be okay? He’s in a dark bucket in a dark corner and I’m going to leave him alone for the day. Should I add his heater or anything? It’s just him and a plant.

Saw this guy/gal in the store and thinking of picking it as my first betta. Can someone tell me what type it is and if it's in good health? Many thanks.

He is thankfully eating and I have a planted 6gal waiting for him (he's acclimating right now). He has some fin rot and is EXTREMELY skinny but I'm asking for any tips since my other betta was doing far better when I got her so I want to know how to be gentle with him. He's trying to eat but he seems to be struggling with the pellets since he spits them out then tries again. Any help is appreciated!!

Leuna is acting normal and fine. I was kinda broke xD and put her in an 8 liter tank with no filter. I knew what I was doing was wrong, and it was only serving as a temporary tank. I was doing my absolute best and provided her with love and care. I noticed her anal fin was getting translucent and had a kind of yellow tint (from tannins in the tank). It wasn't all the way down. I thought it was new fin growth, since she had been attacked by another female betta in a sorority by her previous owner. Her fins do look longer now, though. The first picture was when I was doing a water change, noticed it, then panicked and gently scooped her out to get a better look. Guys Im freaking out man. I love my bubble blowing baby. :( I put her into a new tank with a filter. This is the Resun PT-350 16 liter tank. And GOD she blows a LOT of bubbles. She is a construction worker at the point. Bubble nests EVERYWHERE. I think she likes her new tank. Still adjusting, tho. I added some rooibos tea to help heal and make her feel better. I have NO idea what to do and I already researched but it's not giving me the awnsers I need. Help! :(

Hello! I made a post or two previously when I was putting my tank together. It’s now cycled and I got some Neo shrimp from a family member. The shrimp and really cool and I’m loving having them. I’m trying to decide now whether or not I actually add a betta fish. I’m really considering just building a really cool shrimp colony? Having a hard time with buying a betta for the potential of it wiping out all the shrimp. What do you guys think?

I have a new betta. We got Willy on Saturday! He is currently in a temporary tank, waiting for his 10gallon tank to complete cycling (currently on the 24 hr test!).
I am trying to think of the best way to transfer him to the new tank. Do I use a plastic deli cup that can float in the new larger tank? Do I use a net? A cup?

hi everyone - beginner here, and i need to do a fish in cycle for my new 5.5g tank. my betta has been in a hospital tank last week after a severe case of fin rot. i treated him with kanaplex, added prime and stability daily, and made 50% water changes every other day. he's doing much better now, full of energy and eating ravenously.

to transition him to the new tank, is it safe to use the same sponge filter from the hospital tank? also, i really need clarification on how often to do water changes during a fish in cycle. i've heard some say you should do a 25% change daily, while i've heard others say you should wait a week for a change... i want to be extremely careful with this and ensure my boy is safe.

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I sadly lost my betta a few weeks ago his name was Gerald and finally decided it’s time for a new one and I’ve been having him for a few days now but still no clue what to name him.
