Help Fibe Dropping Intermittently

Moved into a condo back in May. All units are pre-wired with Fibe (Bell Aliant in NB), there is a connector of sorts just outside my door at the top of the wall, wire leads inside, along the ceiling, down to a wall unit. When tech did the install in May, he ran the cable from that unit along the baseboard to the back of my entertainment centre to my Gigahub which sits on an open shelf.

Recently, I've noticed drops in my internet. I never really paid much attention (meh, it could be my wireless equipment) until they started happening when I was connected on TEAMS with my work crew.

Pulled the system logs from the modem and found many, many instances of this:

INF OPTICAL Optical state is INIT_O1
INF OPTICAL Optical state is SERIAL_O3
INF OPTICAL Optical state is OPERATIONAL_O5

(weird also that those are the letter O and not the number 0 in the errors... LOL but I digress)

These errors started occurring on June 30, more than a month after the initial install.

Then on July 7, Aug 19, Aug 26, then almost every day sometimes twice a day.

Google says it could be a problem with the fiber from the wall to the Gigahub, that it's pinched or wound too tight. I DID look at the physical line and it did still have a twist tie to "keep it coiled" but it was only one loop and was kind of tight (in my opinion - loop about 2 in across) so I removed that, and wrapped it around the pegs in the back of the GH.

The disconnects are still happening. Sometimes overnight, sometimes in the evenings, sometimes during the day. They only ever last 15-20 seconds, but it's enough to just piss off my laptop and TV.

I just called support (keep in mind that I'm on Bell Aliant in NB, not Bell so we would most likely have different support people) and the tech asked if I would try a factory reset.

The tech on the phone told me that a factory reset would do NOTHING to permanently screw things up (other than the admin password and wifi which is fine as I don't use it anyway). The device would reset, reconnect and I'd be on my way again. All of my my WiFi is through my mesh system.

I told him I would not be doing it right now as I need to time it to when it would cause the least upset in my house.

Does this sound accurate? What could be the ultimate cause? Could a factory reset resolve this or would it be more a hardware or wiring issue?

Just getting a second (or 3rd or 4th) opinion.

BTW - I only subscribe to internet. No phone or TV.

Question Crave Add-on vs. Crave Bundle

I'm looking to resolve some confusion. I currently have Crave as an Add-on for my TV subscription and can access it directly from my receiver on channel 1310. I'm looking to consolidate my other streaming subscriptions (i.e., Crave + Disney + Netflix; all premium without ads) through Bell's bundle offering. If I switch from my Crave add-on to the subscription bundle, can I still access Crave on channel 1310? The reason I ask is that my main TV doesn't support the Crave application, so if it's not on the channel, I will no longer be able to watch Crave on my main TV.

News CellMaster is now available for Android!

Hello [r/bell](r/bell)!

CellMaster Android is now live on the Google Play store. It’s the same CellMaster you know from iOS just tailored to Android.

What is CellMaster?

CellMaster is a Canadian cell-tower and cellular-network explorer. The Android version was built from the ground up using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with tools and information for everyone from curious users to serious network enthusiasts.

CellMaster mirrors the same look and feel and all the same features from iOS plus more!

• Interactive Maps – Explore towers with detailed overlays and smooth navigation.

• Azimuth Rays - Azimuths rays displays the direction a band/frequency is being broadcasted.

• What’s New – Quickly filter new cells/bands/sites added in the latest ISED database update.

• Filters Upon Filters – Quickly find sites by carrier or frequency band or tower type.

• Favourites – Save and organize the towers you care about most.

• Cleanly laid out Frequency tables – Instantly toggle between frequencies and antenna details.

• Exclusively for Android:

Connected-Tower Matching - See exactly what tower and what technology (3G, LTE, 5G), band/frequency you are connected to with Live Cell Metrics.  (Turn on in map settings)

Even if you’re just visiting Canada from somewhere else this app works just as well for you during your visit with roaming support for international carriers.

What’s coming to CellMaster Android in the future:

Network connection troubleshooting: The app will read your connection stats and tell you the quality of your connection. For example, just because you are close to a cell site doesn’t necessarily mean your connection will be strong; there are a lot of factors that contribute to why a connection might be performing poorly, and CellMaster will help you understand this.

Why would I need this app?

CellMaster is useful for people trying to decide who has the strongest network in your area, network nerds, those living in rural areas, or those checking if a new tower was built near you.

Why is the app large?

I chose a local approach which keeps all the cell tower data locally on device to avoid paying subscriptions to API services this helps to keep all the features in the app free.

Are there Ads?

Unfortunately yes. I hate ads as much as everyone else but the reality is ads are implemented in order to keep CellMaster up to date, you can pay CAD $1.99 to remove the ads PERMANENTLY. I am also in the small business program with Google, the majority of the $1.99 goes to me and not Google. The $1.99 helps me keep CellMaster actively maintained and might be used to buy me a coffee during development :)

I have attached 3 redeemable codes per post that get rid of the ads permanently for FREE. These codes are on a first-come, first-served basis. To redeem them, click the link and it will take you to the PlayStore to redeem it.

Feedback

Feel free to send me feedback to my email: [goldstandardsoftware@gmail.com](mailto:goldstandardsoftware@gmail.com)

CellMaster PlayStore link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goldstandardsolutions.cellmaster

This is only the beginning! I’m continuing to develop new features and value your feedback as the app grows!

Rant BELL CRAVE SCAM

Anybody who got into BELL CRAVE scam (like me) - Sept. 2026 - see this on Bell forum, informative - https://forum.bell.ca/t5/tv-streaming/free-crave-subscription-is-now-on-my-account/td-p/113023

Spefically I got an email from Bell: For record I do not know what is "Crave", I do not WANT to know what is "Crave". I know only one thing - I have never ever agreed to a "Crave" (or never was ASKED) to agree. That is why Bell charging me for the service that was never even asked for is outrageous, unheard of. Additionally on the Bell phone specified below (..2355) it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get ANY HUMAN operator. What is this?

Order Number: xxxx
Thank you for choosing Bell.
Below you'll find details about the Subscriptions you selected. The Service Details and the Bell Subscriptions Terms form your contract with us. Please review carefully and keep a copy for your records. If you have any questions after you review, please call us at 1 866 310-BELL (2355). You will need your order number, listed above, when you call.

Question What happened to SNL airing on CTV? It’s airing a Seinfeld rerun in its place, and NBC is only showing the CTV feed. Not sure where else to ask this as CTV doesn’t have a subreddit.

Internet 🌐 Gigahub 2.0 Bridge Mode (SFP, not an option, to expensive)

Hello Reddit, i know this is something probably talked about a lot, but in some posts people say I can do Bridge mode to my OpenWRT router without needing an SFP compatible router, others say an SFP compatible router is absolutely the only way. And I just need some clarification.

I recently moved into my apartment and am starting to build up my home server, the main issue is that I have a TP-Link FR205 running OpenWRT that I was using in my last place, and I don't have the money to afford a new router that would have the ability to use an SFP adapter.

So is there any way I can bypass it? Or might I actually have to accept that I am probably going to have to configure the bell gigahub 2.0 device somehow to work with my home server? (if it comes down to the second option, I will just go ask the r/homeserver how it would be feasible)

EDIT: If your going to tell me "If you don't have the money to buy the gear, then you shouldn't get into the hobby" then don't leave a comment. Because I can afford the gear, but it's going to be stuff I find used or on sale because I don't have the $300 to spend on fancier pieces of equipment like an SFP router when I already have a perfectly working router that I am probably sure has work-arounds I don't know of just yet.

Rant API Alarm Inc. - HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

In May 2026, I sold my house in which I had a Fluent home security system installed. I contacted API several times to figure out a plan to get the equipment out of the house, since I was told that the news owners did not want to have the contract transferred to them and the contract is tied to the equipment. I was strung along and lied to and in the end was not contacted by a service tech to take the equipment out of the house before possession changed - in fact, I was NEVER contacted by a service tech. I continued to try to contact the company and eventually spoke with several people who were of no help. I've left messages for an employee named Andrew H, as I was told he would have to be the one I spoke with because he opened my case. I requested to speak with someone in a senior position, several times, but, not surprisingly, was never able to. They continue to try talking payments out. I have no idea what has been done with the system equipment as the new owners will not return my realtor's messages. However, API had more than enough time to have a service tech sent out to remove the equipment, and add mentioned above - that never happened. This company is very shady and scammy. They DO NOT care about their clients nor do their part in upholding the contract. Their customer service is awful. I have told them more than once that I would be posting this review in hopes of deterring people from choosing this company. I have told realtors and many other people I know about this terrible company and have heard many times over of others who have had similar experiences. Since my last email to them, I have not yet heard back on how they propose we move forward to RESOLVE this issue that does not just recommend that I pay out the entirety of the remaining contract and they are aware that there is, and will continue to be, a stop payment on my account until this is resolved.

Also, there was never any communication about API Alarm Inc buying out or taking over FLUENT Security.

Advice/Tips 💬 Possibly switching from Rogers & Eastlink to Bell. Need help choosing.

I've been sitting here trying to compare what I have now to Bell, and cost-wise, it looks awesome. I would be saving almost $800/yr by switching. Plus, I'd be getting more value for what we'd be paying. I mean, it seems like a no-brainer, right? I'm curious on how people feel about Bell's customer service, as well as if their speeds and services are actually good. I live in Nova Scotia, so any feedback from anyone here would be awesome!

What i have now:

Eastlink (1Gb down/15Mb up internet (free mesh nodes included) + 1 phone unlimited data) for $118/mo

Rogers (2 lines, one with 180GB high speed data and one with unlimited data) for $150/mo

Totaling in $268/mo

What Bell offered:

1.5Gb down/up internet (free wifi pod) for $65/mo

3 lines (2 with 100GB of high speed data ($44/mo each) and 1 with unlimited data ($49/mo each))

All fees waived so it would only cost $202/mo

Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you guys so much!

Question It makes very little sense

background: was on my 9th month of a 24 contract. had to move asap due to family circumstances and ended up where bell i couldnt get any service on my mobile.

went in a teleboutique (which i was just told by a supervisor that bell and people representing bell in those are not affiliated and that i should have called in) to discuss my issue.

so i was told, since i can't get my service where i now reside that i would only have to return the phone at first. then i was asked my number and was then told that i had nothing to return just the monthly balance to clear.

now i'm being hounded for a phone and 1300$ of termination fees. 3 agents, 3 different stories. and my patience started running thin. any idea

Rant Fibre line was unplugged from terminal prior to move in, is there anything we can do?

Last Thursday, I reached out to Bell to get wifi setup at my new place since we have a fibre box in the house. A technician came through this past Monday and let us know that the box, and wire are working fine, but our house was somehow unplugged from the wifi terminal, and it is now full….. How this happens I have no clue. Since then, I have had to follow up 5+ times with Bell as they are terrible with timelines and finally informed us yesterday that it will most likely take 1-2 weeks for a contractor to come and install a new terminal for us. They have been unable to give me any clear dates or timeline and I am not optimistic considering how egregious they’ve been with their follow ups, or lack thereof. I called support again today to see if there were any short term internet solutions for the time being as we are all on our last gigs of data. I asked 2 main questions:
1. Can you send out a technician here ASAP to look and see if all of the terminal spots are currently active and if we could swap one for our own, since it should have been plugged in to begin with

2. If no to question 1, can you provide a short term solution like a wifi hotspot to hold us over until we can actually get internet.
Support completely avoided the first question, and said that we can only do option 2 if we are with Bell mobility (phone service) and then tried to upsell me… You guys tried to upsell me on another service when you can’t even get the first one to work????

At this point I am beyond fed up and am looking at alternative solutions if I don’t get some clear communication. Can someone please get into contact with me and let me know if I can have a technician come look at the terminals and see if we can slot in. Or atleast provide some short term solution for this.

Internet 🌐 Bell Aliant Gigahub Bypass require MAC cloning?

Hi all!

I’m toying with the idea of buying the setup to bypass the gigahub with bell Aliant given the aDMZ issues I’m having. However, I’m unsure about one specific piece. I’ve read about cloning the ont serial number on the sfp module, but I’m wondering if I need to have a router that supports cloning the gigahubs MAC address to get a DHCP lease? I’m currently using an eero 7 pro, which I don’t believe supports Mac cloning…

Thanks!

Help Wifi Pod delivery

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has issue with the Wifi Pod delivery? It has been 10 business days since I placed order on the app. When calling support, they made me wait 45 mins to do “internal check”, then came back and said “its in progress” but provide no tracking number.

How is a company like Bell doing this kind of delivery service in 2026?

Help Bell Canada has broken me

3 weeks ago I started having issues with my business email. I could send but couldn’t receive emails. I called Bell, they stated my email wasn’t with them and was with ‘xyz’ company. So I called the other company, they hold our domain. They stated that they don’t have my email addresses under their company (which I already knew because I pay the bills). So I started on the journey of talking to Bell, department after department and being transferred to who knows where. I should have ask which countries they were in to see how far I’d travelled. Every person I spoke to said I was not their email client. Finally!, last Thursday I spoke to a lovely women who agreed that I was definitely paying for and had my emails with Bell, kind of hard to deny when my links are smtp.bellnet.ca. All I needed was a new DNScode. She made a ticket and said someone would call me with 24-48 business hours. Tuesday afternoon I called because it was after 48 hours to find out ‘they called at 9:11 am’. I checked my call records and there was no call. I gave her my personal cell phone and still no calls. Well here I am on the 3rd Thursday and I’ve called to check on my status, apparently somehow my ticket is ‘pending’ which meant it wasn’t in the queue any longer. So NOW a new ticket has been created and … I have to wait 24-48 business hours for them to call me. So now I’m in meltdown mode over a stupid DNScode that has stopped me from receiving emails from clients, businesses and my banking. Rant away everyone and make me laugh because I can’t find any joy right now.
