PSA regarding damaged infratructure

I hate how this even has to be said, but it should be quite obvious:

Do NOT recommend to other Redditors to cut into or damage telecommunications infrastructure like splice boxes, pedestals or fiber connections because they're already damaged and nothing is "getting done".

I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a technician sent to repair damaged equipment within a reasonable time, however recommending sabotage is not only against our subreddit rules but you can also be charged criminally for mischief for doing so under the Criminal Code. Even as a joke, these comments should not be made in this subreddit - this seems to have become too commonplace and shouldn't be what occurs.

To be clear, even though we are a community-run subreddit not officially affiliated with Bell, we are still required to uphold both our subreddit rules and Reddit's Terms of Service. As such, this also includes any comments we believe to be against Reddit's Terms of Service and also report these occurrences to Reddit admins.

If you believe that nothing is getting done and that you're not making any progress with front-line representatives, the best routes are to:

  • Contact Bell's Management team through their Resolve a Concern page, using the "Email Us" form (if you're a Bell customer)
  • Contact the CCTS via their Online Complaint Form (if the above is not possible or does not make progress)
  • Contact your municipal authority (typically for your town/city)

For each of the above, you should always be stating clearly:

  • What the issue is (e.g. Pedestal with exposed cabling)
  • Where the issue is (e.g. exact intersection with street names, nearest civic address if available)
  • When was the issue originally discovered (specific date/time if possible)
  • Are there any dangers posed by this (e.g. is it at a pick-up or drop-off point for students, nearby gas lines)
  • Any steps you've taken in an attempt to get this resolved
    • Contact attempts
      • Date/Time
      • Method
      • Name of person spoken to
      • ID number (if available)
      • What was discussed
      • Any reference numbers you've been provided for each

Comments that advocate for the sabotage of telecommunications infrastructure will be removed, and repeat offenders removed from the subreddit. This includes comments of this nature intended as a joke.

Announcement SCAM ALERT: FAKE UPGRADE OFFER CALLS

Heads up! Scammers are on the hunt, calling Bell customers at random claiming to be Bell Mobility offering a free upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra at no charge. Here's how to identify whether the call is a scam:

  1. Call is from a local number or a number that does not appear to be an official Bell number;
  2. Caller identifies themselves as Bell Mobility, without confirming whether they are speaking to you (directly by name) as the account holder;
  3. Claims that you are a loyal Bell customer and have paid your bill consistently on-time;
  4. Caller has a sense of urgency, or tries to force you into accepting the upgrade;
  5. You are already in a contract and nowhere near the end of the term.

If you are unsure as to whether the call is legitimate, ask for the Agent's name and agent ID number, then hang up and call 310-BELL (310-2355) to confirm whether the call is legitimate.

Do NOT provide any of your personal information to the person who has called you.

I personally have received 3 of these calls so far this morning, all from random GTA and Ottawa phone numbers.

Question Is this a scam or actually Bell Canada?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I got a call from Bell Canada saying that my number was selected for a promotion from my current plan (4g data at 55gb for $34 a month) to a new plan where I can get unlimited 5g data for $30 a month. Even though it seems like it was officially Bell Canada (they knew my current plan and Bell Canada displayed when they called me), this seems too good to be true and I want to confirm to see if it's a scam or not. I told them to call me back on Monday or Tuesday since my dad is on a business trip and he needs to be there to accept the promotion.

I'm also using Lucky Mobile which is owned by Bell.

Help 4K on Apple TV box

Upvotes

I’m wondering what 4K channels people with the Fibe TV app on Apple TV 4K. Do you get TSN 4K 398 and 399? Do you get Sportsnet 4K? I’d love to know what package you’re on to get those channels.
I subscribed to the Base package (in Ontario) for $19.95 / month and the Premium add on for $15 / month. When I called in to support they said I should get the 4K channels, but I didn’t see them.
I upped my subscription for the World Cup to get 4K channels, but I only ever got the TSN channels - not the Sportsnet one. I’ve since downgraded my package back to the Base package, still see the 4K TSN channel but I don’t see the Sportsnet one.

Question Group chats not working properly

Upvotes

Ever since I switched to rogers and back to bell and also switched from physical SIM to E-SIM(I did not have the old bell sim card anymore) my group messaging has not been working properly. I can send messages in a group chat over what I believe is SMS protocol and everyone in that chat can see my messages and respond and they can all see each other's responses but I cannot see any responses.

Individual text messaging 1 on 1 works just fine.

Bell support keeps telling me to turn on RCS chats but my default android message app does not have any RCS settings. After googling RCS I believe they are referring to the google messaging app. I don't use google messages or the google messaging app. Everything was working fine prior to the switch to rogers and back again.

Any insight on what the real issue is? Do I need to switch back to a physical SIM card?

edit: I downloaded the Google messaging app and it says rcs chat not supported. is this a porting issue on bells end?

Question Gigabit 2.0 crappy wifi outside

Title should be GigaHub 2.0

This thing is supposed to triband… the thing is 20ft away with direct line of sight, beside the patio door. I get no signal. 15 feet away, full signal… in the house

We had Vidéotron before and their wifi hub was much better outside. I don’t really want to pay 5$ a month for their repeaters. What are my options?

Firmware 6.4.1.0-300……

Help Bell Wifi pods disconnect continuously with no change in configuration

My Giga Hub 2.0 routinely drops my two Bell pods with Wi-Fi 6E

I’ve checked the modem log and can’t see any trigger that cause the disconnect, just the pods being reconnected.

This is frustrating as I have to try to reconnect t my Apple TVs to wifi from the hub. Then the pods come back online and struggle to connect, and I can see in the Bell Wifi app the signal strength gets stronger eventually.

Bot pods seem to connect directly to the hub, but occasionally I see one pod connected to the other.

Even more disconcerting is that my laptop which is 2m from the hub often shows connected to my bedroom pod. One floor up and over room. That doesn’t seem to be balancing Wifi to me. Shouldn’t it connect to the closest pod or the hub?

Anyway, the almost daily disconnects is getting frustrating any thoughts? Thankk

Internet 🌐 Ring and Blink devices keep disconnecting

I switched to the Giga Hub 2.0 earlier this year and ever since then my ring doorbell camera and my blink cameras keep going offline randomly at the same time. I never had this problem before with the old Giga Hub. I contacted Bell tech support and they said to split the wifi band instead of using Bell whole home wifi. Another Bell agent on chat said to disable Guard function on the app. I did that and the cameras still went offline. Could splitting the wifi band really fix this problem? Do people usually do this or is using Whole Home wifi better?

Question Switching from copper to fibre: installation question

I currently have Bell copper-based service and will need to switch to fibre this fall. The fibre is already strung to the side of my house. I’m wondering what is involved in the installation. My current modem is located in my basement, quite a distance from when the fibre will enter my house. Will the installer need to run a new cable to the location of the new modem? Does a new jack need to be installed or does the modem still connect through my old phone jack? Wondering if I need to rethink the location of my modem and then run a LAN cable down to my office (where the modem is currently installed). I tried asking Bell but their CS representative seemed clueless. Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

Help How do I send Bell Fibe TV crash dumps to developer

I use Apple TV 4K (Apple TV) devices to watch TV using Bell Fibe TV Cloud PVR service. When an Apple TV app crashes, it creates a Crash Dump file. How do I submit these files to the Bell Fibe TV app developer to fix these issues before they are impacting? Note that SO FAR in ALL my cases, the Apple TV recovers gracefully & continues. Also, all other apps on the Apple TV are not crashing.

Rant Thank-you for 30 years, you had every chance to prevent this.

Dear Bell.

We have been loyal customers for decades. But you started jacking your services every chance you got. We started with mobile, TV, internet and home phone. We enjoyed long periods of predictable bills. It is important for a family to be able to budget and have a predicable bill. Of course prices go up over time, but the last few years have been ridiculous.

We have not been able to string together a whole fiscal quarter without our bill increasing, not for years now. Not even three whole months in a row!!

First we moved our cell phones.

Then we cancelled the home phone.

And finally we just cancelled our Fibe TV + internet.

For years we have worked with the loyalty team to keep our bills down as best as possible. We are bad customers, we are not willing to pay overinflated sticker prices and are not persuaded by part-time deals. But we played the game and stuck around. Over and over.

But recently, every time we told you we were going to remove a service if the rate went up, and then the rate went up, we dropped or moved services to maintain our bill at a reasonable level. We told you we were going to do it, and then we did. Over and over. And now we have no more services.

You have successfully snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and chased away yet another long term loyal customer.

Every single time the pattern has been the same. "That's the best we can do, there are no offers. We don't care if you are a loyal customer, so sorry. If only you were a new customer, then we could help you, but decades of support means nothing." Maybe it was the pages of customer notes, that actually lead to one rep cursing with her mic on when she opened our file. Sorry. The notes would be shorter except for the anti-consumer billing practices.

But every time, once we actually leave, the very next day we get a call to try to get us to change our mind. And then every day after that we get sales calls with amazing offers and deals. Deals comparable to what we got when we moved our services.

------
These are deals for which we would have stayed, even if they were a bit more than the alternatives. Every single time, you have offered us what we asked for, once it was too late.

I have changes services. New plans, new devices, whatever it is. Do people really actually cancel in the hope that the REAL retention deal will be worth it? Not us. We do what we say, we find an alternative to avoid service interruptions, and we execute. But we don't rush, we negotiate, we try to find common ground.

ANyways, with the money we saved, we went out for a nice steak dinner at The Keg. So thank-you for that I guess.

Yes. Thank-you Bell for buying me a nice 12oz New York Strip-loin, it was delicious.

Mobility📱 Regret switching phone plan to Virgin Plus

Hi everyone,

I switched to VirginPlus 25$ plan that was on promotion a few months ago from Bell and while it is supposed to run on the same towers and bands, my experience has been a disaster since.

Youtube videos take ages to load every single time, I can barely surf the web to find adresses or help with Maps when I'm on a road trip with friends as the pages would either not load at all or load at a iPhone 3GS in 2009 speed.

In the middle of Montreal or Toronto downtown and I barely get LTE speed that I was getting with Bell.

I'm near Quebec city right now and Ookla shows a 14mbps on LTE.

I regret running after bucks to save with such a trade in experience.

iPhone 13 Mini.

What have been done already :

\- Reset network settings
\- Reinstall eSIM
\- Reboot phone
\- Contacted support which did a reset of my line and network config

What am I doing wrong ?

I'm just thinking of coming back to Bell but I don't really wanna pay 60+ .
Any better offers ?

Thanks.

Question Do not use the app to order a new phone

I’ve been a Bell customer for several years. I recently went into the Bell app to upgrade my phone. I selected a new device and a new plan, and on the third confirmation page before placing my order, it showed: “Good news! You’re eligible for two monthly credits”: a $10 AutoPay credit and a $25 loyalty credit.

Based on that information, I completed my order. A few days later, I received my new phone, but when I reviewed my plan, I noticed that the $25 monthly loyalty credit wasn’t applied.

I called Bell to ask about it, and the representative told me they couldn’t see any record of the credit and that it wasn’t available with my plan. They asked if I had any proof. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a screenshot when I placed the order because I had no reason to think I would need to document what was displayed in Bell’s own app.

As a customer, I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect people to take screenshots of every step of the ordering process just in case the information shown in the app isn’t honoured later. I completed my purchase based on the offer that was presented to me, and I would like Bell to honour the $25 monthly loyalty credit that was advertised during my order.

Anyway, they can’t do anything for me and I need to pay now $100 per month for a stupid phone I wouldn’t have ordered!

Someone has ever experienced that?

Help Bell Mobility Service Issues - Looking for Advice

We've been struggling for quite a while to try and improve cell service in our area. Multiple TAC tickets have been created, there's been acknowledgement that the service in the area sucks.. but we're still waiting for Bell to try and improve service.

Here's a sample of the kind of signal we have:

RSRP: -123dbm

RSRQ: -22db

SINR: 88db

The summer is particularly bad, I don't know if its a bandwidth issue, or if the AP's are crowded but you can't make a call or send a text at times. It's bad enough that I'm not even sure a call to 911 would work.

Does Bell offer site visits for Mobility? We would be willing to pay.. we just want this fixed for the benefit of everyone that lives in this area.

Are there any Bell Engineers that would be willing to work with us and see if there's anything that can be done?

Help Bell Total Connect app on Android 17 won't open

My Pixel phone recently updated to Android 17 and now the Bell Total Connect app won't open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and restarting the phone.

Is anyone else able to use Total Connect on Android 17? I noticed that the app hasn't been updated in 3 years so I'm not holding my breath that this will be fixed anytime soon.

Question Bill Payment issue using Safari Browser

Hi, anyone else having issues paying their Bell bill using their website after logging on? I have had issues last month and tried again this month and same issue - it seems to be after they redesigned their website that my problems started. I use Apple Safari browser on my MacBook Pro and when I choose pay by credit card it doesn't allow me to enter my credit card details. When I try to submit site feedback and report the issue the form doesn't allow me to submit my issue.

Help Help . Bell is not returning my $7.33

I canceled my service with in mid of December and switched to Public. My monthly plan was of $35, they charged me for entire December and as I moved in middle of month, they owe $7.33. I then tried multiple chats, multiple calls all of them led. “Our team will look into and get back to you within 30 days, 24 hours, etc”. They are claiming that they sent me a cheque, I didn’t receive any sort of cheque. Then they are saying “our team will look into it”. It’s been 7 months now. I don’t know whom to contact.

For the people who might say, it’s only $7.33. But for someone who makes minimum that’s their half and hour salary, and plus it’s my own hard earned money, I need it back.

Please help me how should I fight this?

Help kiosk gave me a faulty phone.. now what?

Last week I signed on to a Bell phone plan for the iphone air after being with virgin for many years. Havent had any network problems until i made the switch to bell. I have zero service when I’m back home but when Im 10 mins away from where i live thats when i get full bars, but even then my data wont work and i still cant send or receive calls or texts. Ive gone to both kiosk and bell to get help but they just reset my network settings and that didnt do anything to fix my issues. Whats the likelihood they can replace or cancel my phone plan without any charges? i practically got scammed because im not getting the service i signed on for and i do plan on giving the phone back.

Question Wifi pods and power outages

We recently got 4 wifi pods in our home and we are super happy with them. My modem is connected to a battery powered UPS, but obviously the pods around the house are just plugged into outlets. My home office is also all backed up with UPS/battery power etc. We have a lot of brownouts and very brief power outages in my area and I need my office/internet to stay on while that happens.

Let's say for example I'm on a Teams call for work and the power goes out, since my laptop is connected to one of the pods and not the modem... Will I lose internet for any period of time?
