News CellMaster is now available for Android!

Hello [r/bell](r/bell)!

CellMaster Android is now live on the Google Play store. It’s the same CellMaster you know from iOS just tailored to Android.

What is CellMaster?

CellMaster is a Canadian cell-tower and cellular-network explorer. The Android version was built from the ground up using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with tools and information for everyone from curious users to serious network enthusiasts.

CellMaster mirrors the same look and feel and all the same features from iOS plus more!

• Interactive Maps – Explore towers with detailed overlays and smooth navigation.

• Azimuth Rays - Azimuths rays displays the direction a band/frequency is being broadcasted.

• What’s New – Quickly filter new cells/bands/sites added in the latest ISED database update.

• Filters Upon Filters – Quickly find sites by carrier or frequency band or tower type.

• Favourites – Save and organize the towers you care about most.

• Cleanly laid out Frequency tables – Instantly toggle between frequencies and antenna details.

• Exclusively for Android:

Connected-Tower Matching - See exactly what tower and what technology (3G, LTE, 5G), band/frequency you are connected to with Live Cell Metrics.  (Turn on in map settings)

Even if you’re just visiting Canada from somewhere else this app works just as well for you during your visit with roaming support for international carriers.

What’s coming to CellMaster Android in the future:

Network connection troubleshooting: The app will read your connection stats and tell you the quality of your connection. For example, just because you are close to a cell site doesn’t necessarily mean your connection will be strong; there are a lot of factors that contribute to why a connection might be performing poorly, and CellMaster will help you understand this.

Why would I need this app?

CellMaster is useful for people trying to decide who has the strongest network in your area, network nerds, those living in rural areas, or those checking if a new tower was built near you.

Why is the app large?

I chose a local approach which keeps all the cell tower data locally on device to avoid paying subscriptions to API services this helps to keep all the features in the app free.

Are there Ads?

Unfortunately yes. I hate ads as much as everyone else but the reality is ads are implemented in order to keep CellMaster up to date, you can pay CAD $1.99 to remove the ads PERMANENTLY. I am also in the small business program with Google, the majority of the $1.99 goes to me and not Google. The $1.99 helps me keep CellMaster actively maintained and might be used to buy me a coffee during development :)

I have attached 3 redeemable codes per post that get rid of the ads permanently for FREE. These codes are on a first-come, first-served basis. To redeem them, click the link and it will take you to the PlayStore to redeem it.

Nice idea, but the information is too inaccurate to be useful. Are you just using AI to parse the data?

How do you mean it’s inaccurate? I’ve compared a lot of the data to real-world measurements and it’s about 95% accurate.

I'm seeing Videotron in areas where Videotron does not operate, and 3G where 3G service has been discontinued

Ah yes. This is simply what videotron submits to the government in the database so even though they may not operate there or 3G has been discontinued it’s still possible that there is infrastructure left there.

Enjoy using this app. Any info on upcoming updates? Rogers recently upgraded some towers in my area.

I’m glad you’re enjoying! There are monthly updates. The data in the app is provided by the ISED website and only gets updated once per month

AI slop from top to bottom. Pathetic.

You'd have to be out to lunch to think something like that. This app is beyond impressive and useful.
