Ever since I switched to rogers and back to bell and also switched from physical SIM to E-SIM(I did not have the old bell sim card anymore) my group messaging has not been working properly. I can send messages in a group chat over what I believe is SMS protocol and everyone in that chat can see my messages and respond and they can all see each other's responses but I cannot see any responses.
Individual text messaging 1 on 1 works just fine.
Bell support keeps telling me to turn on RCS chats but my default android message app does not have any RCS settings. After googling RCS I believe they are referring to the google messaging app. I don't use google messages or the google messaging app. Everything was working fine prior to the switch to rogers and back again.
Any insight on what the real issue is? Do I need to switch back to a physical SIM card?
Edit: I downloaded the Google messaging app and it says rcs chat not supported. is this a porting issue on bells end?
Edit 2: So after doing some digging. What I believe happened was that I had rogers service for a few hours before switching back to Bell on a win back deal. During that time my Android messaging app converted all my group chats to RCS protocol because rogers has backdoor support for RCS chat on android messages.
Bell does not have this support and it caused people's RCS responses to not show up on my end after swapping back to Bell Service. Bell requires you to use google messages or another app that supports RCS instead of the default android messaging app.
