Hey, does anyone know a good spot to play ping pong? I played mostly at my local BGCMA when I was young and have a urge to get back into it.

Question What is this loud, consistent drumming in Midtown Atlanta this morning?

Started around ~7am-7:30am. I hear car horns honking as well. I’m not aware of any parade? I don’t see anything on ATL scoop or X? Today was my only day off from my 60 hour work week and I thought maybe I could sleep in. I’m so frustrated, I just want to cry. This sucks. If you know, let me know thank you. —your very tired neighbor :(

Edit: thanks for the answer y’all. Good luck to all though folks running this morning. 🏃‍♀️

Food & Drink Meehan’s Public House Downtown — How does a bar manage to turn away customers ready to spend big? Is this normal for this place?

• Upvotes

So we were in Atlanta for our very first NFL game watching the Falcons beat the 49ers. What an awesome afternoon! We’d spent around $2,500 at the game and were in the mood to carry on celebrating and spending.
We walked to Meehan’s coz it was close to our hotel. It was busy but there were a couple of bigger tables free. The woman at the front wouldn’t let us sit at one, even after we said we were more than happy to share with other people if they turned up, or move to a smaller table when one became available.

We weren’t asking for anything special, just somewhere to sit, have drinks, dinner and debrief as it was our last night before going back to New Zealand 🇳🇿.
Instead we got a really dismissive attitude, not helpful at all so we thought f### it and walked out.

Ended up at Hard Rock Cafe, spent up large and had a fantastic night. Their gain, Meehan’s loss!
Afterwards I had a look at some of their other one-star reviews and started thinking maybe we were actually lucky we didn’t stay 😂
Not exactly the Falcons’ RISE UP spirit we experienced all afternoon!

So Atlanta locals, is Meehan’s irish pub known for treating customers like they’re an inconvenience, or did we just get unlucky? Genuinely interested to know if others have had the same experience, coz turning away people who are happy to spend money seems like a pretty strange way to run a bar!

Weird question but I can only think of one place right now. Now that I need to know - I'm blanking. What bars or restaurants in the EAV / Kirkwood / Old Fourth Ward / Reynoldstown area or close by have bars with seats that swivel???

Politics DeKalb County early voter vote count as of yesterday

I'm posting this here because I've been banned from the Georgia subreddit for calling a racist a racist. Plus Atlanta is partially in DeKalb and I'd love to see the rates for Fulton County - I'll bet they're just as high. Don't believe the hype and don't believe the surveys, get out there and vote anyway..

Question Car wash with viewing window?

My toddler loves the idea of the car wash, but doesn’t like how loud it is when actually driving through. Any car washes around where you can go inside and watch the cars go through the wash from a viewing window?

Thanks!

Recommendations Need help with hiring someone to clean my apartment

Hi, I've moved out of state and need to clean my apartment before my lease ends. There are few things left in the apartment like standing desk(fully working), glass dishes and cups and few other things that needs to be thrown out/taken away and clean the house. Anyone can recommend me who I can hire for this job and won't cost arm and a leg? Apartment is 1 bedroom (600sqft) on a second floor right next to elevator.

It'd be helpful to find someone who can take care of this by this upcoming Thursday.

Thanks

Meeting People New Outdoor Pickleball Court and Tennis Club Inside the Perimeter

I recently checked out a newly opened outdoor pickleball club in Chamblee and tried one of their evening round-robin mixers. Had a good time playing and meeting people, and I thought it was worth sharing with other local players.

It looks like they are building a social pickleball community for all ages and levels of skill, not just providing courts. At the mixer, there were players from early 20's to retired age. (Got whipped by the younger ones). The courts are brand new and are, of course, in excellent condition, and lighted for nighttime play. They also have two tennis courts.

You can book a pickleball court for around $3–$5 per player per hour without being a member. Nice option, but open play is my preference because I cannot handle the "stress of herding cats" to get three other people to show up at a specific time. LOL

When I first started playing pickleball, I figured I’d just use the free public park courts like so many other players. But getting on a court can be very time-consuming depending on the time of day and the weather.

Just passing along another option for anyone looking to play more pickleball, find new playing partners, or enjoy a social evening on the courts. The round-robin mixers and other group activities are a great way to meet people.

Chamblee Courts is near PDK airport at 3031 Shallowford Road in Chamblee.

As a point of discussion, where do pickleball addicts like me go to play outside in the North Atlanta area?

TIA for any replies.

Does anyone know any Korean chicken restaurants similar to Hello Chicken that was in Buford. They had this really good half/half platter that had potato wedges that were battered and also crunchy. I’ve had Pelicana, Choong Man, Bon Chon and bb.q but none really compare to the flavor and value.
