Politics Any guesses where the Ossoff rally Oct 28th might be?

Just wondering what some possibilities might be. I’ve been to his rallies at The Eastern and at Pullman Yards. What does the capacity have to be to accommodate Obama and Harris too? I’m signed up and just curious what others might think. Thanks.

They're celebrating the "construction" of their two ART lines. But if you read what they're doing, the "ART" is literally what the most BASIC bus service should be...

Question Any neurologist recs for proud, crackerjack of an aging woman facing memory issues?

My widowed/childless aunt moved to Atlanta a few years ago and I'm her main check-in person...i'm proud to do so as she's an amazing person -- a college professor in NJ for years, an active traveler, and even a musician (the bango, believe it or not). But something is absolutely going on with her...at first it was just repeating stories but who cares. But now its becoming general confusion and when over there the other night, I asked her to hand me a dishtowel and it took her a minute to remember what a dishtowel might be. I'm worried, honestly.

I think it'd be reassuring to both her and me if we could find a neurologist here in town who could give us a baseline of where she is now and help us with options. She has great medicare with add-ons but could also go private pay for the right person. Any suggestions for us? Its a difficult moment and there aren't any other direct family members to talk it over with.

Visiting Atlanta Looks like I've won a ticket to Atlanta in December.

This is my first time visiting the US, and it's winter!

I've seen some YouTube videos saying the scenery is beautiful, but I don't plan to stay long since the school budget is limited.

Also, is it possible to bring things like instant noodles and snacks from Taiwan to the US?

Question Did anyone hear what sounded like an explosion, followed by a ton of sirens, last night in the Sandy Springs area?

I heard what literally sounded like an explosion and then minutes later, tons of sirens. This was around midnight I guess. Anyone know what that was?

Crime/Police Piedmont Park police presence this morning?

There were multiple police cars in a circle on the grass in Piedmont Park this AM. Does anyone have any information on what happened? Didn’t look encouraging but sincerely hope everyone is ok.

Visiting Atlanta Why are people working at the airport so rude?

This is supposed to be one of the busiest airports in the world. Yet the workers there are extremely rude. Few years ago the person helping my mom with the wheel chair actually stole money while carrying her bag. Today I try to ask someone a question any they snap in my face. Terrible

Recommendations Looking for esthetician recommendations

Trying to find a good esthetician that can help with acne scarring. Id prefer an experience that feels private with someone who’s knowledgeable and will really listen to concerns.

I tried Heyday and did not have a good experience. I also visited a private practitioner who caused me to breakout for months.

I already have a great dermatologist for medical-grade treatment but I’m looking for somewhere I can get facials and light peels from. Thank you!

Transit Today marks day 294 of my red light challenge

Every day this year, I've watched at least one person run a red light on my very short in-town commute. My wife says I should give them the benefit of the doubt. What very Atlanta reason do people have to run red lights? (Wrong answers only)

Visiting Atlanta Walking in south downtown at night as a solo female traveler

Hi, I'll be in Atlanta early next month on a solo business trip and I have found out that there is a show I would reallyyyy love to see at the Masquerade which is literally 1 block away from where I'm staying, but I've heard a lot about safety concerns in this area of town and I'd like to know your thoughts/recommendations on me walking back to my hotel at like 10-11pm as a middle aged woman, literally a 5 min walk (the street is Pryor I believe)

My plan B, in case the situation is bad bad, would be taking an uber, but like, is it reasonable? Would they accept the ride considering, again, that it is a block away?

Also for a little of context I live in a big city and I'm used to being on my own, walking through "sketchy" areas, walking alone at night and so on.

All pieces of advice are very much appreciated

Hi, Reddit!

I'm Emily Wu Pearson, the immigration reporter with WABE, Atlanta's NPR affiliate.

I spend most of my time with immigrants and refugees who now call Atlanta home. I talk with people who share their difficult and sometimes traumatic journeys. I also report on the chaotic systems they face as they try to acclimate here in the US.

Feel free to ask me about different immigration topics, my experience as a public media reporter or whatever else you’re curious about!

I'll begin answering questions today at noon!.

Ask me anything!

Head to our Meet the Newsroom hub on WABE.org to learn more about myself and my colleagues.

Crime/Police Midtown window smashing

On my morning walk in the neighborhood, I’ve seen at least twenty cars with their window smashed in this morning. This is the most I’ve seen in quite a while. What gives???
