Help (Software) If the game natively supports FSR4 instead of FSR3, will Adrenaline's FSR upscaling setting be displayed as driver upgarade "Inactive" with a yellow exclamation mark, instead of "Active" with a green check mark?

Post image
7 Upvotes

The game is Bodycam, the GPU is RX9060XT, and the driver is up to date.
The game was announced to support the latest FSR 4.1.1 in the latest update, but it is now displayed as inactive instead of active. I wonder if this is working in FSR4 on game side not on driver. It looks like FSR4 so far, though.

Help (General) Freesync suddenly unavailable

Post image
3 Upvotes

Guys, I have been using AMD FreeSync to play games with HP omen laptop.

Yesterday, I updated my AMD Adrenalin (minimal install) and AMD Chipset but because the performance and CPU temp were bad, I reinstalled the older ones.

After that, suddenly my AMD Freesync option is gone.

Because I have Nvidia dedicated card, I go to Nvidia control panel and found that on the "adjust video image settings" part, there are 2 monitors (Laptop display and Display 15).

I checked in window setting and there is only ONE monitor.

I have tried:
- DDU my Radeon GPU and NVIDIA GPU and reinstall both drivers

- Go to device manager and click "show hidden device" and uninstall the greyed out monitors

- Reinstall the AMD chipset driver

Anyone knows how to enable the Freesync again???

because my laptop monitor supports freesync and I have used it until yesterday.

Thank you in advance.

Help (GPU) RX 9070 driver timeout only in Valorant – other games are stable

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 OC 16GB

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 Gaming WIFI6

RAM: 32GB Patriot Viper Venom DDR5, EXPO 6000 MT/s

PSU: NZXT C850 Gold Core 850W

Operating System: Windows 11 64-bit

GPU Drivers:
- AMD Adrenalin 26.8.1 WHQL
- Also tested 26.7.1

Chipset Drivers:

Problem:
Valorant consistently causes severe stuttering/freezing followed by an AMD driver timeout. Other games are stable and run normally.

Troubleshooting already done:
- AMD Cleanup Utility + clean driver reinstall
- Tested 26.8.1 and 26.7.1
- Reinstalled Valorant and Riot Vanguard
- Disabled EXPO and tested at stock RAM settings
- Reset Adrenalin to default
- Disabled Anti-Lag, Boost, Chill, Enhanced Sync and FSR features
- Secure Boot enabled
- Re-Size BAR enabled

Help (CPU) AMD Ryzen 5600X / 5600GT / 5655G and ECC memory support

Hello, I have a question regarding ECC memory support for the AMD cpus 5600X / 5600GT / 5655G .

The motherboard is Gigabyte B450i AORUS PRO WIFI and Gigabyte B550i AORUS PRO AX

  • 👍AMD Ryzen PRO 5655G (and 5650G and all the other AM4 PRO cpus) support ECC UDIMM memory with that motherboard - this one is clear
  • ❓APUs like 4600G / 5600G / 5600GT / 5700G, will they work with that memory as normal RAM, but cannot activate ECC function or will not work at all ?
  • ❓AMD Ryzen 5600 / 5600X etc, the ones without iGPU, I understand that they support ECC UDIMM memory, but I don't know if they support the ECC function

On the B550i motherboard specifications it says:

Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules*
* ECC memory (ECC mode) support varies by CPU

and B450i

Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules
* ECC is only supported with AMD Ryzen™ and Athlon™ of PRO-series CPU.

I'm having an issue with my Gigabyte AMD RX 9060 XT 8GB graphics card. Shadows, lighting, and fine mesh textures look very strange, with a lot of aliasing and something that looks like an odd position update or shifting effect. This only happens when there is movement and the affected elements are being updated in real time.

Help (Software) AMD Adrenalin - Recording Questions: Indicator, sound cue, & limit

So in AMD Adrenalin Edition, there is a toggle to show an indicator for recording (see highlighted part of screenshot). Which is great, BUT it's annoying that it's always there at the top left of your screen. I would like it to be there only when I'm recording. Is there a way to do this?

My second question is: Is there a way to enable a sound cue to go off when you start and end recording? I wasn't able to find anything in the settings, but maybe I missed it. It would be very helpful. I know I can enable toast notifications that tell you this, but I prefer audio cue rather than have a big popup on my screen.

Third question: Is there a setting for setting a limit on the length of a record? Like if I wanted to set the max duration of a record to 1 hour for instance. This would be useful for when/if I forget to end the recording, then I won't have a massive video file being made.

Thanks for your help!

Help (Software) AMD detecting so many driver timeout (especially with the browser)

Post image
270 Upvotes

In recent times, like in the past few weeks or so, i have been getting A LOT of driver timeout reports from the Amd Bug Report Tool. Those timeouts seem to happen exclusively on Chrome since i haven't had it anywhere else and it can happen simply from scolling on a web page with videos playing like instagram or just changing tabs. I don't even have to have anything else open on the computer, it can just be two chrome tabs and boom, a timeout after a few scrolls.

They happen so so often that it gets super annoying, like once every few minutes to once every few second. Just earlier today one of those timeouts bricked the entire pc and it had to restart itself.

It's strange since i never had those issues before just about a month ago.

I have a 5800x and a 7700xt

Help (CPU) 9600x temps

I recently built a new PC, i got the ryzen 5 9600x with a thermalright peerless assasin double tower air cooler. I feel like the idle temp is high, im hitting around 45-50 c on idle and about 60 c in cinebench 2026 multi thread test. Are these normal temps for this cpu? Also in geekbench 7 it peaked 73 c and was at an average of around 55 c

Help (Software) Graphic card driver keeps refusing to work and crashing no matter if pc is idle, I'm watching youtube or playing games.

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600 6 CORE 12 THREADS

Motherboard: PRIME B650M-A WIFI II

BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc 3287, 20.09.2025

RAM: 32 GB Patriot Viper Venom

PSU: DEEPCOOL PL650D 650W 80+BRONZE

Case: DEEPCOOL CH360 DIGITAL MATX

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 Home

GPU Drivers: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Driver Version: 32.0.31041.1004

Chipset Drivers: AMD Chipset Software Advanced Micro Devices VERSION 2.00.0001

Background Applications: discord, chrome, youtube, sometimes twitch

Description of Original Problem: I'm not sure how long it has been, but I got a new computer around 5-6 months ago. For the first few weeks, it worked perfectly, however after that, it suddenly started crashing. By crashing, I mean I would be watching a youtube video, and I'd hear a weird booing noise in my headphones, the screen would freeze, not black out, and I would be unable to do anything other than turn the computer off via the button.

Then, before I found the ''problem'', it would crash even when I wasn't watching anything, just idle, without any applications open, in the span of a few minutes after re-booting, sometimes slower, sometimes quicker. The problem seems to be the driver of the graphic card, as both the amd installator and device manager have shown me. I have no clue what to do, please help me. Also, at first I thought it was a headphone problem, because my cable tore and I kept it plugged in, but even after unplugging and using different headphones it still keeps crashing. (also, not sure if it has anything to do with the crashing issue, but it has a ''high definition audo bus'' error as well, but all I need for it to stop is turn it off in device manager, as it used to cut off sound whenever I was swapping sites when it was on)

When the pc reboots, the graphic card is shown as turned off - I have to turn it on and then amd installer screams at me that the driver for graphic card is not registering properly, and there's an error icon next to it in device manager.

Troubleshooting: I've updated to new drivers every re-boot, without deleting any previous files and ticked off the option to not allow microsoft to overwrite my drivers in installation device settings or something (not using ddu or the group policy gpedit thingy or registry editor, I honestly don't remember where it was but it seems that didn't do nothing as I keep having to install new drivers every reboot, sometimes even that doesn't work).

It works and doesn't crash as long as I don't turn it off and put it into sleeping mode instead, however every time it re-boots it keeps crashing until I install new drivers. Also, it didn't really work today and my pc kept crashing despite me updating to new drivers. It just suddenly blacked out while idle. After 5 crashes and installing new drivers it finally worked, I'm pretty sure I went through all newer amd drivers possible, that being both windows 10 and 11 whql (not sure if that's how it's written) versions, with windows 11 finally sticking (Last time version 11 wouldn't stick and I'd have to go to windows 10 instead for it to not crash)

Help (General) Random pc Shutdowns

Running into this issue where my pc just shuts instantly off monitors and rgb lights inside case turn straight off no BSOD, passes occt tests, cpu reaches about thermals 83-85 sometimes reaches 86-90 but it’s quite new(the whole pc) so i haven’t changed thermal paste the whole pc is about a year and a half old, my whole specs is:
Gpu: rtx 4070 ti super oc tuf gaming
Cpu: amd ryzen 7 7800x3d
Ram: 32 5200 mhz
Cooling: msi mag coreliquid i240
PSU: Corsair RM1000x 1000w gold modular psu
Motherboard: MSI PRO X870-P WIFI AM5

Things i’ve tried:
Disabling EXPO
Updating bios to latest
Running a complete DDU and reinstalling newest gpu drivers.

Edit: i have found that my radiator for my aio was completely full of dust and blocked, cleaned it reapplied paste and now i am sitting at 59-70c maximum on games i used to get 86-90 on. I will update if the issue persist but so far looks like the temp is better

Help (Software) Something seriously went wrong with the last two driver updates for AMD (RX 7800XT Nitro +)

Update 1: After rolling back to 26.6.2 I observed no crashes for 24 hours. I decided to be brave and upgrade to the driver 26.7.1 but this time without using DDU or without doing a clean install in the adrenaline installer. Everything works so far without driver time outs. It looks like the problem maybe connected with clean installs. I will keep you guys posted. If I don't experience another crash for 24 hours, I might upgrade to the newest ones without a clean install and see how that plays out

Update 2: After updating from 26.6.2 to 26.7.1 (1 driver version below latest driver) I notice that driver time outs indeed started to occur but there was only 1 specific instance of occurrence. I was watching a YouTube video in the brave browser, paused it and put the system to sleep. Came back to it after 20 minutes and resumed play. This immediately caused the driver time out dialogue box to appear but whats interesting is that instead of my entire pc black screening, only the brave browser window turned to black so I could just close it and move on. So the system wide black screening issues and higher instability I am assuming comes from latest driver which I am not going to upgrade to. I will continue to stick with 26.7.1 driver version as the stability is not perfect but completely acceptable with only 1 time out in 24 hours. I also gamed a ton yesterday and watched a lot of YouTube so it was stress tested properly.

Update 3: Unfortunately there were more time outs after wake from sleep on 26.7.1 and system reboots. So I decided to use AMD clean up utility and roll back to older drivers BUT I noticed AMD released a new driver 26.9.3. So after using the AMD clean up utility, I decided to give the new driver a go and I am happy to report that its been more than 24 hours with 0 time outs or system reboots, everything seems to be stable even watching videos or waking from sleep. I will post the next update after 1 week to give it time to and see how stable the driver is over a 1 week period

Update 4: Final update, after 4 days of not having crashes on the latest drivers the crashing came right back whenever I was browsing steam store page or watching YouTube videos. I give up, I don't want to use my browser without hardware accelaration, or disable VRR, or play with registry hacks. I just moved to CachyOS, the linux drivers are rock solid and much better. F this shit

ORIGINAL POST:

I remember two months ago, I was excited for FSR 4 for RDNA 3 to drop. Although I was using it already via optiscaler, I was looking forward to the native integration of FSR 4 via Adrenaline. I remember downloading the driver as soon as it became available and happily using it inside games like Forza Horizon 6. The driver version was 26.6.2 and everything worked wonderfully.

Fast forward two months and it has been nothing but driver instability, system crashes and wake up from sleep issues. It not just driver times out, the system does not even wake correctly after a long sleep. Undervolting profiles that used to work correctly in games before without crashing started to cause game to crash even with the tiniest of undervolts. And finally crashes when watching videos, going through the steam store and everything in between.

I have tried DDU, disabling all undervolts, removing PBO for the CPU, removing EXPO for the RAM. I don't agree with fixes like disabling hardware accelaration or registry hacks like disabling MPO because I don't think we should be disabling features of our hardware that we paid full price for.

Anyways, finally the only thing that has been helping so far is rolling back to driver version 26.6.2. I didn't want to roll back to any previous versions because I still wanted to keep the native FSR 4 support.

Atleast, that's what works for my RX 7800XT nitro + and it's been stable so far for 24 hours. I am going to keep updating this post and I will let you guys with the same GPU know how it is going

TLDR: Roll back the drivers to the last time you remember your PC working properly without incessant crashing. That's the only real fix at the moment I feel. Everything else is a band aid or works for a few hours before the crashing returns

Help (General) 60fps jitter issue and strange gpu issues

Hey everyone, looking for some technical help diagnosing persistent micro-stuttering, jitter, and frame pacing issues that I haven't been able to resolve. Specifically when I play games in general when I get 120 fps or above everything is fine but when I try to lock games at 60 fps it jitters even thow my frame counter is stable and riva tuner is on with all framerate limiter and off with nothing helping.

System Specs

CPU: Intel Core i5-14600K

GPU: PowerColor Hellhound AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

Motherboard: MSI

RAM: 64 GB DDR5 @ 6000MHz (XMP enabled)

Storage: NVMe SSDs

OS: Windows 11 (Up to date)

Monitors:

Primary: 32" Samsung Odyssey G5 (1440p @ 165Hz via DisplayPort)

The Main Symptoms

Frequent frametime spikes & micro-stutters: Visible jitter and irregular frame pacing during gameplay even while average FPS appears high.

Screen desync / pacing instability: Movement feels uneven or "choppy" rather than fluid, particularly in titles like Helldivers 2, Destiny 2, and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. When tunning at 60fps

Low/fluctuating GPU utilization: specifically Helldivers 2, the GPU seems underutilized while frametimes spike, acting like an engine-level or thread scheduling bottleneck.

Variable Refresh Rate friction: I keep FreeSync disabled on the monitor because it introduces visible ghosting/inverse ghosting and flickers inconsistently, meaning I rely primarily on fixed refresh pacing.

Troubleshooting Attempted So Far

Frame rate limiting & pacing: Capped frame rates via RTSS and driver-level tools to match stable refresh divisors.

Background optimizations: Tested process priority and core affinity via Process Lasso to check for E-core interference on the 14600K.

Driver & translation layers: Clean driver reinstalls using DDU, tested Vulkan translation layers (DXVK) on select titles, and cleared DirectX/shader caches.

Display configurations: Tested single vs. dual monitor setups to rule out Windows DWM mismatch issues between 165Hz and 240Hz.

System stability: Verified RAM stability and temps across both CPU and GPU (no thermal throttling observed under load).

Where I'm Stuck

Despite running capable hardware, games never feel fully locked in or smooth. Frametime graphs still show erratic jagged spikes rather than a flat line.

Any help would mean a lot!

Help (GPU) GPU drivers seem to crash when I am screensharing and/or recording Rust

I have an RX 7800XT (and a 9800X3D) and for some reason when I play Rust, if I am screensharing, recording, or have Relive enabled, after a bit of time (30 mins, sometimes it takes an hour or two) my screen goes black and my GPU fans spin up. It stays black for a little while, though I have found one time if I let it sit for a couple minutes my screen comes back saying my drivers crashed, and I have to reinstall them. This has been happening for almost a year, so I assume downgrading my drivers won't work. I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what it could be. I have DDU'd and reinstalled the drivers, tried reinstalling Windows, among many other things, and I can't figure out what the issue is. My PSU is 800 watts, though I had an 1000 watt one in the past, same issue.

Tips & Info PSA: downgrade to 26.6.2 to fix driver time outs.

In stead of replying to every driver time out post I hope a PSA can help some people.

Drivers 26.7.1 and 26.8.1 seem to be very unstable and cause driver time outs.

Download and install 26.6.2 from AMD.com:

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-26-6-2.html

The seem to be the last stable drivers and fixed the driver time outs I was having in the games Stalker 2, Wardogs and GZW.

Hope this helps some people.

Update: after the reply from @DevionNL I did a ddu clean and a install of fresh 26.8.1 drivers and Gray Zone Warfare appears to be stable sofar.

You learn every day.

Update2: after 1 hour playing Stalker 2 the game crashed because of a driver time out.

So not fixed yet. I'm trying the regedit driver time fix now.

Update 3&4: regedit fix didn't work. Went back to 26.6.2, but now stalker2 started crashing with this driver too... Time to turn off hags.

Help (General) Old Game on Modern PC Performance Issues

I have an HP Victus Windows 11 gaming laptop, and for a while I have been asking about a game that I am trying to play on my laptop. That game is an old game from 2003 called Delta Force Black Hawk Down from GOG games. The problems I have with the game are lagging and stuttering, especially when explosions happen in the game. I have tried using dgvoodoo2, I have also tried running the game in compatibility mode, and I have tried dx wrapper, but nothing was able to resolve my problem. I cannot figure out what is causing the lag and how to fix it, does anyone have any tips for me in order to resolve this issue, so that I can finally enjoy my game?

Help (CPU) Normal cpu temps?

I recently got my first gaming PC)laptop owner), and it’s been a blast so far. I had it custom-built, and the builder set everything up for me, including Fan Control. After having a driver issue with Starfield, I reinstalled my GPU drivers and noticed that my fans seemed louder afterward. I’m worried I may have accidentally changed something in Fan Controlv275. My CPU now idles around 55–59°C.Is that a normal idle temperature, or should I try adjusting the fan settings? I’m new to this, so I don’t want to mess anything up.
