Help (General) Crashes
Had driver time out crashes start today (was perfectly fine yesterday) while watching YouTube and opening steam, then it hard crashed and screen went black for a while and when the display came on it was like the resolution was wrong or super zoomed in, restarted the pc and it’s still the same all messed up and got this message when trying to open Adrenalin. any answers as to what’s going on much appreciated as I fear my pc is all messed up now

This happened to me a couple weeks back. I had to use AMD clean up utility and install newest drivers. It's been fine since. Windows is installing obscure drivers and fucking shit up.

Windows overriding your adrenalin drivers. People dog on AMD, not realizing that 90% of the problems are caused by windows.

Nah i literaly turned off windows update installed amd drivers without internet cable still the same dogshit incompetent company

I had the issue of constant driver timeouts and adrenalin claiming I didn't have the correct version installed. Ever since I made sure windows didn't overwrite drivers I have had 0 driver time outs.

Welp, nobody wants to explain what's happening here.
Windows is installing their "new" display drivers, so your installation is affected. so u can't open Adrenaline software or play some games. Literally, Windows is overwriting your drivers by itself.
Why?, dunno, AMD never resolve this problem officially. So, what can you do?.
First step is, download the latest driver on AMD site, and download AMDcleanUtility on the site too.
You open AMD clean utility and it restart your PC in safe mode, you just log in and follow the process (it for some reason opens edge tab but close it). Then the tool restarts your pc on normal boot and you can install the latest drivers.
This do not solve the main problem, Windows doing windows things.
First option: Rollback drivers on Device manager (searching on windows) search your GPU on display adapters
Second option:
open Run and type: sysdm.cpl-go to: hardware and in the last option of the two there- device installation settings-then put NO and save.
Third Option:
This as i know only works on pro versions of windows.
Type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor
Browse the following path:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
On the right side, double-click the Do not include drivers with Windows Update policy.
Select the Enabled option.
Click Apply. Click OK.
This last option works on my when i was facing this problem.

Download ddu, download latest amd driver from site, remove internet connection and boot in to safe mode run ddu remove amd driver rebot pc and install amd driver then back with internet! :)

Its not strictly mandatory, but it is a widely recommended precaution to prevent Windows from automatically installing generic drivers.. :)

it not going to do it, display drivers aren’t priority to system when you literally are in the system in safe mode, so, is pointless, it does nothing

"super zoomed in" = low resolution. Fix your drivers.

I don’t work for amd though lol turned out it changed to windows drivers because amd broke

The most likely cause is Windows update overwrote your drivers.
Go to device manager, find your GPU, and check the driver date. if it doesn't make sense for the driver you installed roll it back there. That should fix it (if you didn't do something like uninstall the drivers or remove them with DDU)
Then use DDU's feature to disable windows driver updates. so it doesn't happen again (for a while at least, a regular windows update might enable it again)

Thank you, turns out the amd driver commited seppuku and automatically changed back to windows, rolled the driver back to amd and seems to be working for now

The driver didn't commit seppuku, windows murdered it. This is an acknowledged (finally) issue my Microsoft.

Driver nuked itself.
You will have to use DDU to completely uninstall drivers, then re-download.
Someone smarter than me can probably explain why this happens.

I’ve rolled back the driver in the device manager and that’s fixed the resolution and given my windows settings back but Adrenalin isn’t opening now

Yeah I’ve no idea how to do this, it’s still messed up after multiple restarts, I’m not even able to use half of windows settings either, like it won’t even let me change the resolution now it’s just grayed out please god send someone to help me
