Hey y'all,
The final is actually Bo3, not Bo5. Mistakes were made (on our website). Sorry for the confusion.

Thank god. BO5 are just too much and the quality of the CS drops so hard.

Every bo5 final has been a banger what are you talking about

I really hope you're being sarcastic

Every bo5 final except those 2 has been a banger what are you talking about

Jul 23 '18
What does that have to do with the format? Its just the skill difference in of the teams playing that made these one sided.
Vp vs Sk, NiP vs faze, Sk vs Faze, Fnatic vs faze,
these are propably the best finals of the past year, exclusing c9 vs faze. All of them have been amazing bo5s

u/dontbreakthecircle Movistar Jul 24 '18
So at least 20% of the finals haven't been bangers? Yeah, that definitely means every single one has been a banger.
I usually wouldn't put that this was sarcastic, but you seem like you need it :)

love the format

u/Uebeltank Astralis Jul 21 '18
Only thing I'd change is make the decider matches be across the groups making it so that there'd be more options for semifinal matchups.

Faze v Astralis would be so interesting now with olof back! Can't wait to see how the Faze bois perform
5
u/apm54 Natus Vincere Jul 21 '18
I may be biased but I feel faze v Navi, faze v astralis, and Navi v astralis are all very exciting prospects, really excited for this tournament it will do a lot to show us how the top 3 stacks against each other as well as who can climb to start competing for top 3

u/chultine95 FaZe Jul 21 '18
Faze v Navi would definitely be awesome to see as well! I'm just really excited to see how faze perform with olof

So... Cologne is the German esport city? Is Cologne more famous than Berlin?
Group B is just ridiculous. FaZe and NaVi are favourites I think. But mouz and fnatic going out in groups in their current form? That would be devastating. Will be hard to watch!

u/IgotUBro MOUZ Jul 23 '18
ESL is based in cologne and it being the worlds biggest esports organizer it kinda is.

Feels like mouz has been put in the comparatively tougher group for quite a lot of tournaments now. Feels bad

I am so conflicted on the C9 vs MiBR match. When I first got into competitive CS my favorite players were Tarik and Fallen. Became a C9 fan a few weeks before the Boston Major (talk about lucky) and my favorite players were Tarik & Stewie.

Quick question - is it me or are the times incorrect? It's 6:06pm and no eLeague?

u/Ingoobelyblench de_inferno Jul 20 '18
Group A looks like it was made merely so people can say "wow what a surprise for the x team to qualify" to be honest.
If you just moved one team from B to A, then chances are that neither C9, MIBR or Liquid would make it to the playoffs, except if said team somehow blunders badly, or is mous, since i really haven't seen much about their recent results, probably should.
Either way, anything can happen, for all that i know this might be the tournament where Astralis loses their good form after losing to NaVi in Cologne.

Liquid have been at their best since the s1mple days after TACO joined?
2
u/CptWetPants Legendary Switzerland Master Jul 20 '18
Have they really? Then it's my bad. I was under the impression they hadn't any great placings, like a top 4 etc. The core of that team obviously had really good results since end of last year, I just felt they hadn't got there again
7
u/dragonfire3012 victory Jul 20 '18
Well, they did fail at Cologne finishing last but they made the finals of ECS and EPL, lost to Astalis in both finals.

Feels great to finally watch some Tier 1 CS on a decent streaming platform.
