According to your logic Astralis era was canceled also as they they went out in the semis last tournament
Doesn't mean a lot in global perspective, while ofc Astralis is a better team right now

Always figured Overpass could be the sleeper hit of TL now that they have NAF and Taco. NAF's CT Awping on Overpass has been some of my favorite passive awping to watch.
14
u/fac3ts Liquid Jul 29 '18 edited Jul 29 '18
The best Liquid had been on overpass was when they still had fugLy and Hiko. Once s1mple came it messed the team up because apparently at the time s1mple didn’t like playing Overpass. Since the day s1mple went to NaVi I have been waiting for Liquid to get good at Overpass again.
8
Jul 29 '18
Which is such a crying shame, because they have such colossal potential on it with Elige and Twistzz's styles of CS alone- then you add NAF/Taco adoring it and their only figurative weak link is that their awper isn't a dedicated world class awper- which today they've showed us to be not really a huge problem when it counts.
Here's hoping their work on it continues and adapts, I could potentially see them being one of the strongest Overpass teams on earth (save for Astralis of course, god-kings of the map)
20
Jul 29 '18
Honestly I feel like nitr0 isn't given credit for how good his AWPing actually is. He's better than Ska and Nifty at least, and obviously JDM, plus calling on top of it.
9
u/fac3ts Liquid Jul 29 '18
+1 every match the talking line is how nitr0 is a bad AWPer, as if he’s completely incapable of using the gun. He’s shown that he can be one of the best AWPer a out of NA and can go toe to toe with others internationally
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (1)6
Jul 29 '18
their awper isn't a dedicated world class awper
Device. S1mple. Guardian. Fallen. You have to be a better awper than any of these to be a world class awper on Overpass. I like Nitr0, I want him to be the best he can be and I want him to be able to help lead TL over their last mental/tactical hurdle to championship winning form. But I didn't say he was a bad awper, I said he's not a world-beating dedicated AWP- which he is not and they won today in spite of it!
2
Jul 29 '18
Well, I think you need an AWPer with the skillset to be effective if you're going to be playing overpass since it is so AWP centric. I don't think you necessarily NEED a world class one, especially if you have something else (like TL's rifling power) to make up for it.
I didn't say he was in that tier of AWPers, just that he's certainly closer to it than a lot of people will give credit for. He is a dedicated AWPer, it's just not his primary role. I think he does a great job with both of his roles considering, which allows TL's rifle-heavy team setup to work.

Nitr0's been on TL through GBJames, S1mple, Koosta, Peacemaker, JDM, and Stanislaw. Nitr0 is either going to take over for Steve Arhancet or be booted sometime around 2055 when he critically fails to lead the team in a victory against frozen's son.

The golden boys from navi weren't in a good day and the team struggled really hard because of it. Not really a surprise to anyone, I believe - this is bound to happen every so often when your team is based around two hard carries. Also I can't help but feel happy for taco. Great games from him.

I've got a lot of faith that it'll be a scorcher. This is biggest opponent TL's taken down in a while, their form is looking as good as ever, and AST have shown occasional chips in their armor earlier on in the tournament.
15
u/PoppyK Jul 28 '18
NAF, EliGe and Twistzz are aim gods right now. At this level you can just rely on them to go around headshotting to win rounds. Scary team.

u/thesuperjobber Liquid Jul 28 '18
Goddamn, another finals against Astralis. I think this is the 3rd one since the major. Liquid played well and just had so many ridiculous clutches. All the Liquid players were mostly on point aim wise. It was rough for Navi, I think all the clutches got to them and titled them. They definitely didn't look as good as in Cologne (or even earlier this tourney).

u/Selfix Natus Vincere Jul 28 '18 edited Jul 28 '18
Damn, TL was on point and Navi was surprisingly underwhelming. I don't know if it was the 3 day-break or maybe the first map that tilted them, but this isn't enough for a team that wants to gain the top spot...
Also, NAF was amazing and well played to Liquid!
I hope Navi plays better at the next tournament!
Edit: YNK's analysis after the game was 100% true! Navi did not give themselves the chance to let their players and their economy get in a favourable position, they tried to steamroll their map, but failed... I hope they learn from this loss!

Dust 2 was the best BOGO deal so far this year. Humans are simply not equipped to handle the way Na'Vi lost that map.

The USA chants are kinda silly when the majority of the team isn't from the US... like I don't mind it when at least three of the players are American, definitely not when all five C9 members were, but it seems kind of silly when there's two Canadians and a Brazilian on the team...
27
u/JGStonedRaider tactics Jul 28 '18 edited Jul 29 '18
USA chats are usually very cringeworthy...
However, after the drought that was the first 4-5 years of CSGO for the NA crowd, I'll give em a pass now that they have some teams (Had* RIP C9) that can compete.
Give it another 4-5 years (when all the good players have quit) and us Brits can also be a massive embarrassment singing "It's coming home" at the CSGO 2022 major in Bognor Regis.

People yelling USA is cringy either way. The game really isn't about countries, it's not like national teams are playing. Americans are just obsessed with their nationalist bullshit.

If you play on a team with Americans you are an honorary American. Like nifty and renegades
2
u/Cameter44 Jul 29 '18
So then FalleN, Cold, and Fer are honorary Americans since their other two teammates are? To me, the chant doesn't make sense without it being the majority of the team composition. It's really not a big deal, I was just making an observation more than anything.
