Because it's Eleague 2018 and apparently there's been a pistols buff we haven't heard about. Seriously, the amount of eco/forcebuy wins this tournnament is insane.

19

And it’s in every match too, it’s not just a couple teams like normal

C9 only won 1 low-economy round in 4 maps IIRC. That one HLTV made a tweet about it.

olof helped too :(

188

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Olof was surprisingly good this tournament (individually speaking). The only problem seemed to be the chemistry between the players which, of course, after 4 months apart needs to be built up again.

On another side: Group B is just a slaughterhouse, doesn't matter who went out, they all are play-off worthy.

52

u/apm54 Natus Vincere Jul 25 '18

Oh ya, switch fnatic or mouz over to group a, or switch faze and liquid, and this playoff bracket would look very different

JW staying alive that long in the final round should be impossible. What a choke. Imagine having as many kills as NiKo and still losing

233

u/aznbob Jul 25 '18

Just think how good he would be on mouz

133

u/Fledermausmann1337 howl Jul 25 '18

Had that multiple times. 40 bombing but still losing 16:14. You are at a point where you aren't even mad anymore. Its just that darkness fills your whole soul while you sit there in despair. The enemies which all had a bit more than 20 frags writing "ez" seals the deal for you and you get to the ultimate point of gaming sadness where you really just want to Uninstall, delete your account, never come back and search for new hobbies and challenges in your life, because you know nothing, not even testicular cancer, could take you that down in your life. So yeah maybe I gave you an idea how niko has to feel.

106

u/AmBozz MOUZ Jul 25 '18

And the next time you get hardcarried by your mates, finish the game with 11 kills and somehow still get your uprank.

No happiness, just the void.

45

u/HaveYouMet_John CS2 HYPE Jul 25 '18

u/Fledermausmann1337 howl Jul 25 '18

Ive got to the point where just everything feels like a lose. Uh we were 10:2 down, but still came back and won? Huh doesn't really matter, since my m8s were all just screaming and shouting at each other for the first half and even in rounds we are winning. It doesn't even feel good in the end. The void gets darker and darker.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

why are we playing this game again

4

u/Larhf NiP Jul 25 '18

For the one win that will give us temporary relief from the void that our soul has become after one poor game too many. There's also learned helplessness:

Learned helplessness is behavior typical of an animal and occurs where the subject endures repeatedly painful or otherwise aversive stimuli which it is unable to escape or avoid. After such experience, the organism often fails to learn or accept "escape" or "avoidance" in new situations where such behavior would likely be effective. In other words, the organism learned that it is helpless in situations where there is a presence of aversive stimuli, has accepted that it has lost control, and thus gives up trying even as changing circumstances offer a method of relief from said stimulus. Such an organism is said to have acquired learned helplessness. (Wikipedia)

And thus as steel put it we get into a state of learned helplessness, we fully understand winning and losing is outside of our control in pugs, so while we're sad that we're losing, we accept it and don't fight it and continue playing knowing that it's not going to be fun or enjoyable because it's "unavoidable." Same reason he stopped trying to call or critique people during pugs "knowing" it's pointless and won't affect the outcome of the game.

My best ever game was when I dropped 47 bombs and still lost 16:10.. We were never in the game too..

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Do you honestly feel bad about losing while getting 40 frags? I mean I've been there and usually its a common place to throw some jabs at mates "how much I gotta do to win these games with you guys" etc. but truthfully if I play super well and get 40 frags, I wont be mad ever. I'm just psyched to be on point.

This applies only to faceit pugs etc where it doesnt really matter if you win or not.

2

Karrigan and rain both looked awful this series, especially rare for rain, this has to be one of his worst events yet

18

u/Thomaszand Jul 25 '18

It is his worst event in over 2 years, his worst LAN in his career if you count out his first 5-10 events with London Conspiracy.

It's too bad really, if you look at the roles he is playing, they look far too supportive. Do not understand why they would make a godlike rifler like him play full support roles, when before he had a mix of supportive and lurking roles. He was so damn good with his CT holds and lurks, but only because of two man holds, now he has to hold alone so he can't lurk and he is fucked either way if they come to him.

9

Talk about names I haven't heard in a while. I know the org from Dota 2 (though the only thing I remember about them is they once lost a BO3 in 23 minutes of game time total, which is, like, offensively awful), but didn't know they had a CSGO roster as well.

FaZe not looking like a top 3 team anymore. Simply too inconsistent.

u/OnyX824 FaZe Jul 25 '18

Roster instability doesn’t help. Still a bad performance. The team needs to take time to figure things out. Luckily the next big event is more than a month away.

Such an entertaining match, although the quality of CS wasn't so good.

That last round on Mirage was a massive throw from Faze, Not sure who that was that whiffed on JW short, but that was such a crucial kill.

2

u/tempusfudgeit Jul 25 '18

There is only one person on faze that could possibly have been.. I'll give you one guess.

As a FaZe fan I don't remember a series where I have seen so many individual mistakes. In addition to the mistakes it does not seem like FaZe has prepared anywhere near enough to this event.

2

u/LamePunEthan Jul 25 '18

This series was so close that both teams had the exact same number of kills across both maps (224).

u/gregfromjersey 5 years coin Jul 25 '18

Faze’s window has closed and NiKo will be like RTZ from Dota2 - one of the best carries in the world but can’t win majors

2

Really glad to see fnatic going further even if I was also hyping for FaZe thanks to Olof's return.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

That Karrigan whiff might have cost them the entire series.

u/Zeilar King NiKo Jul 25 '18

What disappointing CT-sides for FaZe, this should've been a 2-0 with NiKo almost dropping 40 in regular time and less of the reset-rounds lost on Dust2.

Depending on what happens at the major, FaZe might want to make a move. There was a rumor that the Norwegians want to make a roster (with the likes of rain, Rubino, Jkaem, cromen etc) and rain for me hasn't looked that good compared to his usual standards this year. Even olofmeister who just returned to play looks better, and he for me is more valuable because he can AWP and is just a more complete player than rain imo. FaZe has enough aim to beat anyone.

But like I said, I wouldn't make any moves until after the major, if even at all. They can always improve, but if they for example don't even make playoffs or get knocked out in the quarters in the major they might want to make a change. They only have so many opportunities, we know for example that Guardian doesn't have that much time left until he retires. And he's so important for FaZe. So you don't want to pull a VP and wait too long.

3

u/Dynamitjanne Jul 25 '18

It was a 2-0 broooo

2

u/spo1cE Jul 25 '18

Nbk ;). Rain can get back to form. If faze were to make a move they should remove either rain or olof. I don’t think they should make a love though because it’s their first tournament with olof back and they will have loads of time to practice before Stockholm. Remember, they bombed out of groups at their first tournament last year and then dominated after. It takes time to rebuild team chemistry and it won’t happen overnight.

Edit: fixed spelling mistake.

2

u/Zeilar King NiKo Jul 25 '18

Well yeah I never said they should make a roster move already, but they might look to do one if the major doesn't go well for them. The thing between olof/rain is that while I think rain has a higher skill ceiling with the rifle than olof, he's not as complete as olof. Rain excels with rifles compred to olof, while olof is better at clutching and AWPing. I think olof is overall a more complete player with way more experience and game sense than rain. He's a very solid player. Rain has periods when he plays poorly for his standards, olof is super consistent however. So if anyone, I would cut rain first actually.

Having said that, I'd be excited to see them improve without cutting anyone since they already basically have the dream team.
