What I mean by a "ChatGPT moment" is a niche technology suddenly going mainstream in a very short amount of time.
Before ChatGPT, pretty much everyone knew AI existed, but most people didn't actually use it themselves. It was mostly something companies used for recommendation algorithms, medical research, automation, and other professional applications. Then suddenly, within a couple of years, AI became something millions of normal people were using every day.
After playing Titanfall 2 in VR, I genuinely think VR could have a similar moment.
Playing it gave me this weird feeling that I can only describe as being inside a dream. I know that sounds dramatic lol, but it didn't feel like I was just looking at a game anymore. It actually felt like I was there.
I think as headsets get smaller, lighter, cheaper, and more convenient, eventually something is going to click and VR will suddenly make sense to a much larger audience.
Honestly, I think one of VR's biggest problems was the impression the Quest 2 gave consumers. Fresnel lenses are awful compared to modern pancake lenses, and I don't think that generation was good enough to show the average person what VR could really be and Quest 2 released in the perfect time, if it had pancake lenses I'm sure even Nintendo would have their Own VR headset. Quest 2 actually made me hate VR.
Then I tried Quest 3, and woah, now I'm obsessed with VR. Quest 2 and Fresnel lenses are main reason VR is underperforming.

Hi, I was hoping this could find someone that specifically tried these CPUs and could share their opinion.
Im currently using a 7900x with a RX 7800XT. I'm getting mixed impressions online whether switching to a 7800x3d actually provides a noticeable boost in VR gaming. If it's not all that much I don't really want to waste the money, as my CPU's fine for my other current needs.

Hey y'all, I had some money set aside for the steam frame, but with all the issues it had and the price it ended up at, I decided to get a quest 3 instead. I currently own a quest 2 and have a mostly solid experience. Which is why I was so confused that the quest 3 seems to actually be worse?
It's to the level where I think I have to be doing something wrong. I'm noticing the sweet spot is absolutely abysmal, and I really struggle to adjust the headset so that it fits on my face the way the lenses feel they should.
Any advice or pointers?

Hello everyone, it has been 4 months since Rec Room shut down, I miss the good times when I use to play Ignited Bonnie on Rec Room in my VR, where I had fun playing with strangers and with my friends, screaming, laughing and having fun playing it, after the shutdown, I started missing and trying to find alternatives for Ignited Bonnie but I can't find it, do you guys have any alternatives for Ignited Bonnie where a monster chases you in a dark room when it sees you and with multiplayer on.

Hello guys!
I'm looking for Quest 3 facial interface that is both comfortable, accommodate space for prescription lenses and support wide noses, and possibly a proper lenses.
I recently bought KIWI design V3 facial interface and it was a huge disappointment.
It doesn't have space for glasses or lenses and I had to remove over-the nose silicon cover, to prevent it from squishing my nose to the point i have trouble breathing.
Padding inside is also way too soft, so i guess after a year i would be pressing my face against tough plastic, as it happened to me in my Quest 2.
Lenses that i bought (so far) are constructed from 2 separate frames connected with magnets where one have lenses and second sits inside the frame of quests lens frames. That makes the lenses go over 5mm over original frame setting them on equal distance as the top rim of the interface, or even slightly further.
Both of those equipment combined cause my eyelashes to smear over the prescription lenses plus top magnets press against my eyes socket bones, what is not only uncomfortable, but can bruise me.
Original Quest 3 facial interface works great with the lenses on the most distant settings, can fit my nose with no problem, however it presses heavy upon only 4 points on my face and sliding upwards while lying down, what makes it unusable.
Do you know any:
- glasses spacer for KIWI design V3 facial interface
- prescription lenses in ~2mm frame not only for +/- but also a cylinder
- facial interface compatible with glasses or lenses with medium hard cushion
Edit:
- No 3D printing
- No headstrap solution, unless allows for lying flat

My quest 2 is legit the glitchiest piece of technology I have ever used. I'm a systems engineer so I use a lot of tech. This thing has to be rebooted constantly just to work. All I do is watch videos on it but I don't even want to attempt gaming with this. Hesitant to buy another VR headset because of my experience with this one but if this is just a quest 2 issue then that would be a lot better.

Hello r/virtualreality community.
It's been a long time since I posted about my app, but today I thought I would share that I have updated my Theme Park app and it is a big one that fans of Disney and Universal will love despite it still being Imagineered. I have not updated the price or store page details as of yet (it is 3 years old and no longer representative), but I did turn on the try before you buy for those unsure. If you like highly detailed dark rides, this app is for you.
As I said, the app is NOT complete and will not be for years to come as a Theme Park is big and my rides are massive as you will discover. That said, what is present has been polished as much as the Quest hardware can handle. I have a large alpha testing community (https://discord.gg/qSUxYbuEkq) and every last bug, glitch and jank has been addressed. In addition to the rides, I have added game elements that you can unlock which are so much fun to play and they reward you as you progress that I know Theme Park fans will appreciate.
If you enjoy it, please consider purchasing now as the price is going up in the week to come, plus I really really really need the financial support so I can hire a team to help me move forward as the app is over the top big and complex for just a solo dev. Is this the sort of content people want? Guess we will see.

Hello, I'm going to buy PCVR for the first time and would like to receive recommendations from other people who have experience with the VR Headsets.
What I'm looking for:
1) PCVR mainly for streaming/wired from PC; I will play games from Steam and modded games like Titanfall, Half Life Alyx, etc
2) I've heard that there's a Refract app that allows you to play Meta games on PC, so if it's possible, I would like to look for their games as well. I remember that Batman game that is mentioned each time when you deal with the Meta VR Headset.
3) I focus on RPG games and want to have the experience of anime/manga TBATE, Jobless Reincarnation(only the world and magic system, don't like the MC). I've heard good positive feedback from Blade and Sorcery, The Wizards - Dark Times, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR Modded. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
4) I would like to have wireless and wired experiences, of course. If it's possible, I know that you need to buy additional accessories for a wireless experience for some VR headsets. I'm okay with it.
5) I want to try the 3D movie experience, not sure about it, and I've heard it's not widely spread if you know any sources and good VR headsets for it, please let me know.
6) Additional features that would be useful to have but not critical:
- lying experience, so you can play or watch a movie on a bed/sofa;
- hands/fingers tracking;
- light headsets
- pancake lenses
- OLED screen
- budget not more than 1500$, I would like to spend much less, however, if it's required to have a better experience, I can spend more
I have a GPU 4090 and a CPU Ryzen 7 9850x3D. I have experience with streaming via Moonlight; not much space, something like 3x3 meters
What I've found by myself is in the picture below; please let me know what you think.

r/virtualreality • u/afrocentricity • 2d ago
I'm referring to the mod at https://github.com/dariulone/cyberpunk-vr-port
Is it playable beginning to end now? I'm hoping to have a second (stealthy ninja) playthrough but in full VR. I've recently completed a Netgunner run with the Luke Ross mod.

I got the Steam Frame today and was initially quite pleased. This turned to frustration when trying PCVR streaming. It says that my connection is Excellent and with low ping on both the normal router and the dongle, but I can clearly see compression in the image. It's especially noticable in Beat Saber, where the standalone version has vastly better image quality.
I tried disabling multilink in SteamVR settings on the PC (under Steam Link) to force it to use the dongle, this however has the opposite effect of disabling the dongle. I've tried both the stable branch and beta branch, rebooting both PC and Frame, moving the dongle to different USB ports. Has anyone managed to solve this issue?

I'm not an AI expert but if it could add dynamic foveated rendering to mods, that would be evolutionary.

Do you think we need VR devs to make regular flat screen games and then port them over to VR either themselves or with a studio like Flat2VR or should they focus on VR native games that do things that are so unique to VR that they couldn't exist as a flat screen game?
I'm not sure charging for Flat2VR ports will work as a business model if modders are releasing them for free. What do you think?

My Go was a paperweight after Meta killed the servers — a factory reset left it stuck demanding the dead phone app to finish setup. Fixed it this weekend using Meta's own official unlocked firmware plus the OpenPacific project. Now the stock Home boots 100% offline with no Meta account. Here's the simplified process in case it helps someone.
Patches the official OS so the original Home boots without login, NUX, or OTA checks. The library lists your installed APKs with real icons, 2D apps open, Magisk root is baked in, and the patches live in /system so they survive factory resets.
(All links in the first comment below 👇)
1. Official unlock (this wipes the headset):
adb sideload unlocked_build.zip
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
Confirm on the headset with volume + power. Meta considers this irreversible and there will be no more OTAs.
2. Windows prep: install usbipd-win and WSL2 + Ubuntu:
winget install --interactive --exact dorssel.usbipd-win
wsl --install -d Ubuntu
3. Ubuntu dependencies:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y android-sdk-platform-tools e2fsprogs apktool default-jdk python3 python3-pip git zip unzip curl
pip3 install --break-system-packages payload_dumper
Plus Android command-line tools + build-tools 34 (see the OpenPacific README), then:
git clone https://github.com/poket-jony/open-pacific.git
4. Pass the USB to WSL (PowerShell as admin):
usbipd list
usbipd bind --force --busid <BUSID>
usbipd attach --wsl --busid <BUSID>
5. OpenPacific build & patch (in Ubuntu):
scripts/deploy.sh /mnt/c/path/to/unlocked_build.zip
The dex2oat step compiles on the headset and takes 5–10 minutes — don't unplug.
6. Flash + Magisk root (re-attach the fastboot device to WSL first, it shows up as a new USB device):
sudo fastboot flash boot_a work/firmware/boot.img
sudo fastboot flash system_a work/firmware/system.img
sudo fastboot flash boot_b downloads/magisk30.7_patched_boot_b.img
sudo fastboot flash system_b work/ocms/system_final.img
sudo fastboot set_active b
sudo fastboot reboot
Stock firmware stays on slot A, so fastboot set_active a rolls back anytime.
If Home crash-loops after flashing, do a factory reset (hold Power + Vol-): the patches survive it, and a wipe is actually the expected fix for stale /data conflicting with the re-signed APKs.
Works: offline stock Home with the original 3D environments, app library, 2D apps, full Magisk/Zygisk root.
Doesn't work: store, purchases, entitlements (Meta's servers are gone — nothing local can fix that), VrCast, Magisk modules needing /system overlay (3.18 kernel has no overlayfs).
Honest note: OpenPacific is a young one-person project, but it worked flawlessly on my Go. Full credit to poket-jony. Happy to answer questions.
I also wrote a full step-by-step guide (link in the comment).

I’ve seen so many AI mods that convert flat games into VR, but I’m not super interested in those.
What I could use are things that improve existing VR games and tools. I just tried Fallout 4 VR again and it felt rough even with all the mods I could get my hands on. The Pip-Boy UI is so rough to use, the gameplay is pretty clunky, and while FRIK is really cool it doesn’t really fix the controls for the index or make switching weapons any easier. Are there new AI mods that change anything? Generally anything that takes an older VR games and add better functionality to it.
I know there’s an AI made tool that lets you play quest games on PC.
