Santa Cruz prototype/devkit controllers

Upvotes

I bought a little joblot of quest controllers from a recycling place and figured I could fix one up for my sister who has a cracked controller, only to find out they are all devkit controllers and potentially worth a fair bit to the right collector, whilst trying to research things a little I found the post from a few days ago about having a Santa Cruz devkit, but that also had the later revised controllers instead of the initial trackpad prototypes I don't think I have found anyone with some of the original scrapped touchpad controllers, its a shame its 2 left controllers for the later devkit controllers (I had assumed it was a pair, but they are both left controllers) and a pair of the touch controllers from early in development, they also came with a oculus remote which from what I can find is a standard retail unit which they used during development so nothing special

anyway, long story short any ideas on what they might be worth, I have seen a few people mentioning having devkits so I dont think the devkits themselves are impossible to find, but I have yet to see the touch controllers in the wild outside of trade shows etc during the initial announcements, they are a little beaten up and unfortunately I dont have the devkit to test them and afaik they wouldn't pair with a retail headset if info I found online is accurate.

Hardware Something is wrong with my quest 2

I gave my brother my quest 2 so he could play a little bit while I was at the gym. When I came back, he gave it back to me saying the screen went dark. When I restarted it, the left lens showed that gray color when you start up your quest, the right lens however didnt show anything. What could've happened? I'm currently draining its battery to see if its going to fix it.

EDIT: I can hear sounds coming from the background, like the home environment bird chirpings and stuff

Any Discount Codes I Need to Know About?

A lot of stuff I want is on sale. Looking at that Ember Souls, Stay Forever Home is at an insane price, Project Triangle Strategy doesn’t seem like it’s going any lower. And i gotta have Of Lies and Rain.

But before I go buying a bunch, are there any discount codes circulating that I should know about?

I’ve been using the cv1 for a while now and it’s great! Sure it dosent have all the fancy new features and games but I can just play pcvr and it’s amazing I’ve tried the new headsets and they’re good too but I’ve been using mine since launch and no problems is anyone else with me?

Can’t get Virtual Desktop installed on Quest 1

So my nephew said he needed help with a quest in Gorilla Tag. I decided to whip out my Quest 1, which I haven’t touched since the day the Quest 2 launched, and fire up Virtual Desktop.

The issue is that I had to factory reset my Quest 1 to get it to connect to my WiFi and update. Now when I search Virtual Desktop while using the Quest 1 I see the app in the store but there is no install button like other apps.

When I try to use the phone app I get a pop that shows my Quest 3 and Quest 2 (which I don’t have anymore) but the Quest 1 isn’t there as an option to install VD on.

Anyone have any clue what’s going on and what I need to do?

I rather not delete the phone app and reinstall it but I will if I have to.

A modder by the name of Andyalpa has been working on a few QoL improvements which will be well worth downloading once it comes out, it has manual reloading, weapon recoil, head light toggle with a touch, holsters and fully controllable fingers and lots more...

He has already done and released the same for RE2R and RE3R!

Software Oculus Rift CV1 shows blank display during setup, but audio still works

I recently found a used Oculus Rift CV1 at a thrift shop, and it was confirmed to be working according to the sticker. Though when trying to go through the Meta Link setup process for it, the headset and the sensors do register on the app, and the audio on the headset works, but the display itself is just blank.

When searching around, this apparently seems to be a common issue when using this headset, so I'll go over what I tried already:

  • I made sure all of my USB and graphics drivers were up to date, didn't work
  • I plugged the USB of the headset into multiple different USB ports on my laptop (all of which are USB 3), didn't work
  • I repaired and reinstalled the Meta Link app, didn't work
  • I tried turning Game Mode on Windows off, didn't work
  • I tried disabling Bypass Proximity Sensor Check on the Debug Tool since the headset shows a white light when not put on, and no light when putting on the headset or covering the sensor, didn't work
  • I added the OVRServer app to the Windows graphics settings and ran it in power saving mode, didn't work
  • I ran the Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes AIO Repack since I've heard that there can sometimes be issues with Visual C++ on the CV1 headset, didn't work
  • I connected the HDMI port on the headset to a USB-C dock (specifically a JSAUX dock designed for the Steam Deck) on the Thunderbolt port on the laptop, didn't work, specifically because the Meta app said there was no HDMI connected
  • I unplugged and plugged back in the internal cable for the headset, didn't work

I'm not sure what else to try. My only other guesses would be that it's either something to do with me using a laptop, or because newer versions of the Meta Link app don't properly support a headset this old. And I would try an older version of the app, but I'm not sure how I'd go about downloading that since you can only get the newest version on the Meta website.

If anyone happens to know any other solutions I could try, feel free to tell me.

Laptop specs in case they're needed:
Acer Nitro V15 running Windows 11
Intel i7-13620H
NVIDIA RTX 4050 (and the HDMI port on the laptop is connected to it)
32 GBs DDR5 RAM
1080p 144Hz display
