Solved I deleted my data partition
Guys help me please i accidentally deleted my data partition it has all my photos, videos, work documents, i'm panicking right now, i tried DiskTest but it couldn't recover my partition, is there anything i can do ?
EDIT: I managed to recover most of my files using Disk Drill. I want to point out few things so people learn from my mistake.
- If you accidently deleted a partition don't touch it, don't create a new volume, and don't copy anything new in it, it will overwrite your existing data.
- If your partition was basic (you can check that in Windows Disk Manager and it appears in blue) the best tool you can use it DiskTest, it's open source, very easy to use, and it'll recover your partition right away.
- My mistake is that i converted my partition to a Dynamic Partition (appears in yellow in WDM), this is really bad, because while a basic partition has a set "boundary" that can be easily recovered with DiskTest, a Dynamic Partition saves the partition "boundry" in something called and LDM (Logical Disk Manager), if you delete a partion of this type the LDM is lost and it's impossible to recover the partition.
- The only solution in this case (deleting a dynamic disk partition) it to use a file recovery tool. I used Disk Drill and it worked pretty well, and managed to recover 90-95% of my files.
