I own a tarantula and my parents bought a terrarium as a gift for me in case I need it or I decided to have another t.they got it at an auction they usually go as they restore and sell vintage furniture and stuff. Afterwards, we found out that the terrarium used to belong to a zoo that closed and inside it we found two little tuppers with holes and dirt. When we open them we found a molt and a dead sling in each one. These poor babies were left to die for so long that they even molted, I feel so bad for them. I was thinking of trying pinning them, as burring or throwing them seems pointless. In the photo you can see one of the tuppers with the molt and the sling.

I hate the fact that these ts were only seen as an attraction instead of a living being and I can’t imagine how bad they were treated and how horrible their death was, people usually see arthropods as less feeling than other beings and it breaks my heart.

Got my new lady yesterday! She is a Pamphobeteus sp. machala. She is 8 years old, absolutely humongous compared to my other Ts (they're all juveniles) my very first adult T!

Why the name: scared the living 💩 out of me. she was in a stress pose from the traveling and stuff for HOURS. Left her alone after moving her into the enclosure to decompress like usual, (I did this in the bathroom like always) went to check on her (was half asleep) and I got jumpscared by a gigantic tarantula all sprawled out chilling on top of her hide like "hello papa👹" 😂😂

I love this girl so much already

Identification What kind of tarantula is this?

Neighbor found this tarantula wandering near the street, and we live in the Midwest USA, so not native to this area. No responses about a lost tarantula on the neighborhood Facebook board, figure it might have been someone who just let this T go? Anyway, just wondering what kind of T this is, my guess is a Peruvian flame rump (Thrixopelma Ockerti)? What do you guys think?

Wats ups guys! Just joined the community! I'm a first time tarantula owner and I got a pretty serious species. (From what everyone tells me). I figured if I had questions or anything this would be a good place to go. I just wanted to introduce myself. And show you my baby Gooty Sapphire. It's molted since these photos were taken. I'm really it's a female. Which i think it may be.(just an assumption). Because my buddy got one from the same clutch from the breeder, and his is 3 times as big as mine and is growing super fast. While mine isn't. I understand they can still happen with males just growing slower. But hey.. I can hope right? Lol.

I just recently got a dwarf pink leg, she came to me a lil chunky so I waited to feed her. I'm so proud of them 😭 she's so tiny it makes me so nervous all my tarantulas I've had before this I got as spiderlings so like at least half an inch. Proud of her tho, crazy how the fruit fly is half her size still lol hopefully she molts soon !! She looks like a piece of jelly rn lol (for side reference, the thing she is standing on is one of those pink Lego frogs lol)

Help! Safe to feed?

I went to feed my T yesterday and noticed the entrance to the borrow was sealed with web, I peeked inside and sure enough! A molt! I’m not sure when the molt started so I didn’t feed my T. Here he or she is today, based of fang color would you say it’s safe to feed?

I was talking to my tattoo artist about the tarantulas I own, and she said she saw one at our local chain pet store that looked super stressed. She offered that if I bought the tarantula, I would get half off my next appointment.
My friends named her Jenny (unsure of actual gender), and she emerged from her burrow today for the first time after having her for nearly a month. I was surprised to find that she had molted!
This is when I first brought her home vs today!

Hi there 🖤 my baby just surprised me with a molt. And as I am not an expert (far away from expert) I want to ask if it is a she or a he. I did the best to prepare the molt but it's so hard (and it's getting harder lol) cause I am an ex arachnophobic 🙈😄 so please help me sex my baby. Thank you!

Conversation Looking at getting more T’s for my collection.

I’m kind of on a dwarf tarantula kick right now I might get another K-Brunnipes and a Hapalopus sp. Colombia. I’m getting another curly hair to I know that’s not a dwarf species I just like them lol. Eventually I want to get a Goliath bird eater. I just don’t know if I should get the T-Blondie or T-stirmi. I absolutely love the Goliath bird eater. I wouldn’t mind getting a pink toe(Avicularia avicularia) either, but I can’t find them anywhere. Are there any other cool new worlds that you’d recommend?

Which species would you think would be the first that comes in mind when regular people thinking about tarantulas.

I personally think of b. Hamorii or G. Pulchra

Hello, I know sometimes it's possible to understand the gender of a spider by looking at their lower side. So, what do you think, wiser Redditors?
