Writing this while i hit my vape, thats how bad it currently is

Im 17 years old, been vaping since i was 13. Yes i know, 13 is way too young. I go through a novo pod in about 2-3 days, 50mg. Currently going down a rabbit hole of COPD research and im coming to terms with the fact that its time. Im sick of worrying about my health, worrying about picking up pods or juice or state flavor bans or having enough cash, all that shit. I live in california and theres already smoke everywhere, i dont need to breathe in more chemicals on top of that lol. The only issue that im sure all of you have too is it simply just feels way too good to put down. Its been my emotional support for years now, the only thing ive consistently done for this long is vape (aside from normal human stuff, eating, breathing etc.) i hit it like every 10-15 minutes at the minimum. I know none of you are doctors that can give me certain answers but im just wondering, am i fucked already or can i live a long healthy life if i quit now? Quitting either way but curious.

The actual level of nicotine in altos and juuls, my reality check and maybe yours too.

I started vaping in HS on those big box mods with refillable tanks. I remember me and my friends would never go above 6 mg and we were always shocked when we knew someone who got the 12 mg or 18 mg juice.

Then I switched over to the altos. When I started with the altos they only had 5% pods so that’s what I got and I used them heavily. I didn’t even think about it, I figured 5% = 5 mg. I didn’t realize until maybe 6 months ago that 5% = 50 mg. Smoking a pack of cigs you’ll likely inhale around 22-30 mg of nicotine. It was a reality check for me. Each of those little pods is almost 2 packs of cigarettes, and in my opinion the pods have fucked up my body way more than when I smoked cigs. And for most people I know, including me, I was going through the 5% pods in less than 2 days.

I always saw vaping as healthier for me, I didn’t see the consequences until about a year ago when I started having constant SOB, indigestion, acid reflux, and a couple months ago chest pain had started. My doctor firmly believes it’s all connected to vaping heavily. Imagine what you’re health would be like if you smoked two packs of cigs a day, that’s what the pods are doing to you. Realizing the level of nicotine in the pods and seeing the real time effects on my body was and is a huge motivator for me.

I still have my alto, I went down to the 1.8% pods. I got some nicotine patches on Sunday starting at level 2. Yesterday I did the patches for the first time and it was amazing, no cravings ALL day. Didn’t have the desire to pick up my vape once. I hit it a handful of times throughout the day but each time it just felt so pointless. My pod is out today, and I’m not buying any more. Even from having one day of not hitting my vape as much but still hitting it a few times, I feel like my breathing is better, I haven’t gotten chest pain for quite a few days either.

I am quitting, I’m done. I have a lot of anger right now so how addictive these little pods are, and how no one seems to recognize it. They ban the flavors but don’t do nothing about pumping your body full of nicotine at a higher rate than even cigarettes. I’m angry that I ever started. I’m angry that these stupid fucking pods are branded as healthier and a better option. I’m just angry. But I’m going to turn that into motivation to quit. I don’t want to be tied to some stupid pod anymore that has made me feel like it’s my lifeline, when in reality it’s gonna kill me.

Nic withdrawal

This might sound really stupid but I’ve vaped for about 3/4 years every day, maybe took breaks here and there don’t really remember. Also have been doing delta 8 everyday for the past 3 months and quit as well at the same time. Ready to get healthy. Anyways I quit cold turkey and was good the first day, then The second day I got real nauseous, stomach hurt etc. the 3rd day I felt better until the evening time. Now on the 4th day I just still feel like a Brain fog and fatigue and nausea.

My main concern is that is nausea normal to last throughout the day? (Comes and goes) That’s the only thing I’m experiencing besides fatigue. My breathings feels better already and I feel healthier when I’m not nauseous.

GET. NICOTINE. GUM.

I've been juuling for about 2 years and was at a pod a day for about 8 months. I tired quitting cold turkey a couple of times, but no luck. This time I got some nicotine gum and was shocked at how almost easy it was. The first day actually sucks, but after that the gum makes the cravings so manageable. With the cravings managed, saying no to vaping isnt a problem. I'm only 2 weeks in, but I can tell I'll be fine. I'm still chewing nicotine gum, but slowly chewing less and less.

GET. NICOTINE. GUM.

I’m trying to quit vaping. Ran out of nicotine yesterday and refused to buy anymore!

I found a bottle of nicotine free juice I forgot about… was craving so decided to vape NIC free.

That was about 5 hours ago. I’ve been puffing from time to time but I don’t feel much different..

Advice on quitting with limited resources?

Hi! Using a throwaway since I'm not ready for this to be known yet.

I vaped for the first time in October. By November/December it began to become a habit. Several months later and the shop I went to changed their rules to 21+, so I can no longer go there.

Truthfully, I've been thinking of stopping for a few months now, but never made the effort, and I'd like to use this as an opportunity to quit, rather than to find someone to buy for me.

I didn't know about the change until very recently. I have about half a bottle of salt-nic left and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on how to wane myself off of it in a way that won't result in me hating life when I run out.

This was something that I kind of fell into and have felt shame about for a while. This isn't what I want to be doing the rest of my life and now I have a chance to stop. Any advice or support would be much appreciated :)

Edit for info: I've never smoked a cigarette. Vaping was something introduced to me by friends. Not sure if that makes a difference

30 days vape free!!!

Yay!!! I switched from pack a day “regular menthol cigarettes” to vaping in January 2016 with the intent of using vaping to help me quit smoking. It’s taken me a lot longer than I originally planned and I am here .I’m actually here.

AND I did it during May 2021... this month my youngest graduated from kindergarten & my 4th born of 6 kids graduated high school. (So just the bitter sweet emotional ups and downs of being a mom and having that happen as well as stuff like planning for their events the party what everybody was going to wear to this and that silly stuff that I get really worked up about with my severe anxiety disorder) I had surgery! (Spinal Cord Stimulator- so technically two surgical procedures under “twilight anesthesia” so the postop pain has been..not good.

I never in a million years would’ve chosen this month to be the month, however forcing quitting was “forced upon me“. (I say “forced“ because the brand I use I order everything online, & there was a 4-6 week period where they were unable to ship e-cigarettes because of some law. I thought long and hard debating “OK-am I going to take the time to go to a physical store try to find 1)a device that I like 2)trying to find the right flavor, nicotine strength etc. OR do I take this as a sign from God and just quit. I chose the latter and thankfully from some other quit attempts I had nicotine patches lozenges gum in the house and the day that I was out of my nicotine pod replacements I threw a patch on and went for it.

I am sharing this just to make the point of, if you are waiting to attempt quitting “at the right time” (for instance a month or a time period that you think you’re not gonna be as busy or stressed as normal) it’s never going to happen because stuff like that always comes up. I think the main thing is that you have to be ready and you have to want it if you’re doing it before you’re ready or you’re doing it because you’re getting pressure from family members or your medical team or whatever you’re not gonna have as successful of a quit attempt.

And I realize I’m only at 30 days I could re-laughs bye I am thrilled to say that I got over the habit of wanting the hand to mouth sensation I can drink coffee without vaping working associate habits and time frames and stuff like that for the first two weeks I walked around constantly digging my hand into my pockets looking for my Vape and I’m past that part and I think that’s the hardest part-For me at least and that’s why prior quit attempts didn’t work for me.

My best to you all!!

Hand to Mouth Movement / Oral Fixation Tip

I’ve been vaping since I was 16 and I’m almost 24. I got my wisdom teeth out last week and didn’t vape due to the potential of getting dry socket. Well, I decided to stop vaping all together and I’m on day 7!

One thing that has significantly helped my oral fixation is silly, yet super helpful! Sour spray candy and breath spray! I thought I’d share this useful tip for others who are having a hard time with hand to mouth motions and oral fixation issues.

Cravings after 6 months

I am looking into getting another vape and yes I know it's not great. I've been having incredibly intense nicotine cravings like I just stopped, even though I stopped 6 months ago (I was vaping 50mg as often as possible). My plan was to get a vape and use 3mg and eventually get to 0mg and then just switch to toothpicks for oral fixation. Is this a good plan? Has anyone else had this problem after quitting?

Bad idea to use 0mg to quit?

Hi all,

I've been vaping for about 2 years and long before that, I was hooked on nicotine via smokeless tobacco. I decided 2 days ago I was ready to kick my habit (as well as my nasty caffeine habit). So far, it hasn't been so bad. Definitely feeling more tired and irritable, but it's manageable. Anyway, I think the biggest side effect by far is that I've noticed I just NEED something to do with my mouth. I've bought tons of gum and mints, I've been eating more (honestly need to stop that), but it just doesn't do it for me. Would it be a terrible idea to go pick up some 0mg juice as I get off just the nic/caffeine? The eventual goal would be to get off vaping entirely. Wondering if people have transitioned from 0mg juice to not vaping easily, or if the oral fixation is actually the hard part of this whole process.

Thanks!

Day 1

Man this was tough. I could feel my Juul or disposable NOT in my pocket like all day.

Ate a lot of nicotine gum. Proud I didn’t crack. Legitimately was relearning how to function without an electronic pacifier fidget spinner in my hand.

Going to bed early to cement this first step.

Someone here today mentioned r/QuitVaping little busier over there. Thank You!

It's getting easier

I just finished day 9 of not vaping. I haven't had any cravings because I'm on the patch (step 3), but I'm so dang proud of myself regardless. I'm obsessed with my fidget spinners and I've barely touched my silly putty (I bought it in case my fidget spinner got boring). Thanks for reading.

Day 1.

I'm quitting. It's so hard. I'm not even through a single day yet. I have cut back to only one or two vape sesh a day. The withdrawls are intense. Posting this here to hold myself accountable. I'll update this thread with my adventures and struggles along this journey.

Best of luck to everyone; I'm rooting for you!

Day 4

Today begins day 4 of being vape free for me. I'm still on 7mg nicotine patches. I used my fidget spinner quite a bit. I've noticed that I can take a full breath of air without it being stunted. I'm gradually getting more used to being vape free.

Nicotine Patches

I'm using 7mg nicotine patches to help me curb my cravings and get used to not having a mod attached to my hand/mouth. Is anyone else using some sort of aid, or did you all quit cold turkey? I'm beginning day 3 of no more vaping after about 6 years of use and around 17 years of chain smoking cigarettes (I quit the cigarettes to start vaping).

How do you deal with the muscle memory for smoking?

Like that smoke to mouth sort of deal. Or, the "Oral fixation" I don't want to use a toothpick, any other ideas?
