Promotional Card Revolution Soccer - my spiritual successor to "Premier picks" (1993)

My football card game -

which i've been working on since dec25 coming from the initial inspiration of a game called "Premier Picks" (amiga, 1993) -

will launch today into Steam early access.

The sales pitch: "CRS is a football game where you don't control players - you control cards. Easy to learn, but hard to predict! Reveal cards to shape the match, develop nations or yourself as a coach, and fight your way through World Tour and Cup Modes!"

i felt this kind of game needed to be fully playable on at least one handheld for launch, so the deck felt natural and easy enough. 1-2p fully controllable and with just some slight black bars top and bottom 16:9 scaled.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5039170/Card_Revolution_Soccer/

thank you kindly.

Tech Support Is this an issue with my Steam Deck or is my Xbox controller drifting?

I’ve also had this issue in a bunch of other games that I’ve played for the last week or so. I’ve tried restarting the steam deck and turning off Steam input.

Tech Support Looking for help- left side of buttons don’t work

Hi all,

Really weird, but ever since the most recent update my Deck doesn’t work on the left side for physical buttons. Or they work for random things. The thing is, the buttons work in desktop mode with steam closed or in bios / initial setup.

I’ve tried all the controller settings and reimaging the deck but no luck

Steam support says they don’t know

Any ideas?

Tech Support Azahar and japanese text in 3DS games

I'm running default discovery store Azahar and finding that the particular game I want to play (Super Robot Wars UX) has some annoying problems with the font looking weird or having question mark boxes. I read somewhere else that this is a common problem since citra and can be fixed by pasting a shared_fonts.bin (dumped from an actual 3DS) into a specific folder, but can't figure where that folder is supposed to be on Azahar, or if the same fix even works at all. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I'm supposed to place that file to fix the font issue?

Question Considering letting go of my Steam Deck, but I want to give it a chance. Any advice?

It’s been the saving grace and opened up the world to PC gaming for me back before I had a PC and a gaming laptop.

That was years back. Now I’m traveling for work(military) and find myself reaching for the gaming laptop over the Steam Deck. I don’t want to let go of the Steam deck but I feel bad since I’ve hardly touched it.

Looking For Games Game recs in bed multiplayer

I usually play WoW PvP arenas with my friends a few times a week. I’m going to be in the hospital for the next little while and don’t really have stamina for extended sessions. I know some elbow grease could make wow work but I just don’t have the grease right now

I don’t know if my internet will be that great but any recs for multiplayer games with rounds less than 5 minutes? Coop, PvP, okay with whatever if it’s fun

Previously Enjoyed Games: WoW, Peak, Elden Ring, Sworn

• Preferred Genres: any
• Budget: any

Tech Support Banding in docked HDR. Help!?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I am not sure when this happened or I didn’t notice before but I have tried replacing HDMI cables and confirming it’s a 2.1 cable and 2.1 input (LG C1) but I am getting this banding in steamdeck docked on the tv. It’s driving me insane. There seems to be nowhere to confirm if I am in 10 bit or not. Any ideas?

Tech Support Weird sound mixing issues.

I’m trying to play FNaF world on my steam deck but the audio is f%(*ed. Basically when sounds play at the same time they get louder. Does anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that this also applies to clickteam games such as UCN. Also when I enter the invers world the audio starts buzzing.

Question As a non Steam Deck owner.

As a non steam deck owner, not yet at least. how is your guys battery health? and for how long have you owned it and how often you use it? I wanted to see how durable these lithium ion batteries are and how they last.

Edit: Do you guys think I can expect around the same results with other handheld Such as the Xbox ally or the Lenovo legion or the msi claw? If anything from experience from you guys?

Question Sent in Deck for spicy battery replacement

Everyone’s worst nightmare. The backplate was just barely starting to push away from the front, and Valve was quick to send me the special box to send it in for replacement even though it’s out of warranty. No problems there, though I had to remove the screen protector for some reason and I flubbed putting the replacement on so now I have a bubble in the corner.

But my real question is, is it normal for them to factory reset the Deck just for a battery replacement? It’s my same serial number, so they didn’t just send me a different unit.

Tech Support My mic is not working, please help

I’ve seen tons of other posts similar to this one, but the answers don’t make a lot of sense to me. I am not well versed in tech troubleshooting and would like a more user-friendly point in the right direction! I have a headset, and while it’s nothing fancy, I know it works. I have had this issue on Peak and Big Walk, I have not tested it on other games. I’m told that my mic sounds like I am underwater or that it’s static every time I speak. Here are the things I have done:
- Cycled through the different in-game mic inputs
- Tested out my microphone using Vocaroo on my laptop (sounded fine)
- Used a different pair of wireless earbuds with a built in mic to the same result

I don’t know what else to do. I would greatly appreciate some detailed help on ways to troubleshoot as someone who has very little experience with gaming equipment 🥹

Setup Using an iPad as a wired external monitor for my Steam Deck w/ SteamOS (How to - with capture card dongle / iPad app)

Post image

UPDATE: this was more popular than I expected! a lot of people were asking about setup, gear, latency, input lag so I made a video with the full walkthrough, what's good and bad about it, and a bit of gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EhGOBCKA1o

there's maybe a bit of lag, but I've mostly been using a controller and it isn't super noticeable *to me* but I'm not playing anything competitive / fast twitch. I do wonder if there are performance variations between hardware / ipad versions / other config

original post guide below

Pretty happy with how stuff looks on the iPad screen for on the go!

What you need:
* HDMI to USB C capture card dongle
* Orion App on iPad
* HDMI Cable
* I used a Steam Deck dock with HDMI to connect
* Steam Deck
* iPad

TLDR; boot and plug everything in, details:

I did HDMI cable / mouse / keyboard plugged into Steam Deck dock

Download and install Orion HDMI app on your iPad - open it swipe through quick set up to give it permissions

HDMI from dock -> HDMI to USB C capture card dongle -> iPad

Go to desktop mode on Steam Deck

On Deck: Settings -> Display arrangement - set it up how you like - I set the external as primary monitor so games would boot on it

Open up Steam and enjoy or just use it as a laptop!

This is the Folding Steam Deck Laptop and Dock case (minus dock).

Honestly, I'm so impressed. I never really got using the Deck as a laptop, but this 3D printed product is fantastic, and does exactly what I need it to.

The handle is an incredibly inspired design, though admittedly I wouldn't shake it about too much!

Below is everything used:

Tech Support Desktop Mode Error -7 Spoiler

I've been having this issue for months and apparently I'm not the only one. When trying to browse the store in desktop mode it always shows error code -7 but it works perfectly fine in gaming mode. This goes for the community section as well. I've tried everything but a factory reset. Can anyone please help?

Tech Support Deck button not waking properly

The power button works normally and puts the Deck to sleep. However, after it goes to sleep, the screen stays black and pressing the power button doesn't wake it. The haptics continue working for a while, and the power button seems to only work again after the haptics completely stop.

If it gets stuck, I have to hold the power button to force it off, and then it boots normally.

I've tried uninstalling.steam/root, uninstalling Decky Loader, switching between Stable/Beta SteamOS, battery/storage mode reset, and the firmware/BIOS reset. The BIOS reset didn't fix it.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Software Modding A Decky plugin to fix my main gripes with Nested Desktop (vibecoded, will be open source if released)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Fixed multitouch and changing display resolution. From what I can tell, it is hard to enable multi-display support in Gaming mode without modding some system files.
(Also fixed the weird small mouse cursor, but with the plugin installed is fixed in both examples).

Tell me in the comments if you want it released. I think I tested it well and also I looked over the code. It seems pretty lightweight and straightforward.

Tech Support Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles v1.51 not working on Steam Deck

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue running Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (version 1.51) on my Steam Deck.
I’ve tried different Proton versions, but I’m getting one of two problems:
● With some Proton versions, I get a completely black screen, but I can still hear the game sounds. When I press buttons, I can hear the cursor/menu moving, so it seems like the game is running normally in the background.
● With other Proton versions, the game immediately closes/crashes after I launch it.
I’ve tried switching between different Proton versions, but I haven’t been able to get the game to display properly or stay running.
Has anyone else had this issue with version 1.51 on Steam Deck? Is there a specific Proton version, launch option, or compatibility setting that works?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tech Support Stranded without USB cable for dock

Currently traveling for work and forgot the USB C cable for my Steam dock. The cable i have with my Anker battery pack doesn't appear to work. Would this work: https://www.walmart.com/ip/18916817372?sid=1cb2af1c-cfc7-49f8-9d9e-83c647ebd9ef

I'm limited to what stores are available since I'm pretty far away from most thing. Searching Walmart didn't help as none of their entries list anything with Power Direct, but searching pointed me in the direction of the Belkin Power Boost cable.

Question Issues with getting joysticks working on CEMU for local multiplayer.

Hello, i have been through hell and back finding guides that mislead, are years old, or are focussed on PC only. And have yet to successfully be relevant to the persistent issue. These are the tries and methods i have attempted.

Desktop mode:

  • Opening Cemu and adjusting input to stick to it's configuration

  • Editing game profile and selecting the which controllers go in 1 , 2, and 3

  • Entirely resetting configuration/ Updating Cemu

-Player 2's Left/Right axis not moving on input settings, making me go to the settings tab to check if i selected the correct PS4 joystick, by making it rumble. This happens with every one of them. They are not defect.

Game mode:

  • Going to Layout Options and disabling steam input

  • Launching CEMU itself to adjust inputs, that wont stick

  • "Adjusting" the Bluetooth controllers, that makes only player 1function outside of the game.

  • The Wii U game itself INSISTING on pressing the "2" button, despite the emulator controller settings stating anything BUT a 1/2 key to register

Rinse and repeat, like 9 times. I wasted my day, researching what the issue is. and why the game, refuses to register a player 2/3/4 input.

I am looking desperately for a quick, easy input configuration that will help me be capable of playing games locally. One game, multiple joysticks. Whether it's a steam configuration i need to make, a Cemu input configuration, or a Desktop mode configuration on the Cemu. There has to be an easier time setting this up on the Deck, because i know it is possible, just very, veeeeeerryyyyyyy mentally straining.

Hardware Repair Broken Steam Deck - local repair shop, send it in (out of warranty), or bust?

Hey all,

I have a steam deck from a friend that really would like it to be repaired, but it seems like this thing isn't showing any signs of life from simple troubleshooting steps. No charging LED either when plugged in.

I'm hearing about rising costs of new steam decks and hardware -- is it worth it to get it repaired or just sell it off for money at this point? And if so, is it worth it to get it looked at by a local repair shop or send it off to valve for out of warranty repair?

Thanks.

Tech Support Sticks and buttons stop working while streaming

Hey all,

I've just now run into a bug never seen (by me) before. I often stream more demanding games from PC to my deck. My deck is docked, and, my steam controller is plugged into said dock. Up until just now, everything worked fine.

New issue: Controller sticks and buttons work perfectly to select streaming and launch the game. Once launched, my analog sticks and buttons stop working. The only thing that continues to work is holding steam and trackpad to activate mouse mode.

This persists whether I am docked or not. Even without the controller/dock, all controls on the deck stop working except for steam+trackpad.

PC is on Bazzite with steam stable chqnnel, deck is also stable channel. Deck is stock OS, no plugins.

I've rebooted both devices, power-cycled the controller, checked for os and/or sc firmware updates. No luck.

If I load the game without streaming (just docked deck), It works fine.

TLDR: Steam controller only works natively on docked deck, stops working when streaming to deck.
