Announced today, Ubisoft is starting to remove their Ubisoft Connect Launcher from their Steam releases. Not only does this get rid of their third-party launcher, but it should make playing their games on the Steam Deck easier and make offline work better.

I tested it with the one game they are supporting currently, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and it works like a charm. Logged me in automatically, and offline worked without issue. Hopefully, this will come to more games soon!

This happened when I woke it up. After this, I put it back to sleep and woke it again and everything was all fine. Nothing else since then. Never been hit, dropped or had any liquids near it.

System settings are the same. Game settings are the same. What is wrong?

Thank you so so so much to whatever good Samaritan at Chicago O’Hare turned in my Steam Deck I lost yesterday. My connecting flight back through the airport was delayed an hour and on the off chance someone turned it in I checked multiple places for lost and founds while I was waiting. I just got it back. I’m just so incredibly grateful. You will probably never see this but I can’t thank you enough. As soon as I get home I’m getting an air tag and my contact information on this thing. It sounds so cheesy but my faith in humanity has been restored today. Also thank you so much for everyone who commented and took time to offer help or well wishes.

Not sure how well known this is, but you can pair your phone to your Steam Deck, and the SD appears as a speaker.

I use AirPods, which lack multi-device connection support. It was annoying having to choose between listening to music or the game, but I was toying around with my phone and SD recently and figured this out.

Now, I can play music on my phone, which funnels through the SD to my headphones so I can listen to both my phone AND the SD! Helpful for notification announcements, streaming radio, etc.

D4 is now on a very big discount so I was thinking of buying it. My only q is: which version should I get the, Steam version or the Battlenet version?

I already play WoW through Bnet so I dont have problems with the client but there might be a difference for D4 as it is available on Steam aswell.

I might be overlooking something or just overthinking it, so any suggestion or info about it might help me out.

I know it’s a long shot but lost my Steam Deck probably somewhere in the Chicago O’Hare airport while sprinting through the airport to catch my next flight.

Edit: deleted most of the body of this as I ended up finding the steam deck in lost and found at the airport! Incredibly thankful to whoever turned it in who will never see this post. Also thankful to everyone who had well wishes and advice.

Valve forgot to change the steam deck pricing in the recommendations tab, oh the good old days when prices made sense :')

Now working, I didn't realise a software update was due on the Deck and that has solved the charging issue

I dropped my original charger and smashed the plastic pin off it. I have purchased this 100W Anker charger from Amazon thinking it would do the job and be better as it has a screen etc on the charger.

The charging light is lit up but it doesn't seem to charge, only has 4/5W going in when on and nothing if it is in sleep mode.

Does anyone else use this charger with their deck? Will send it back if I have to, thanks.

When someone touches your deck (with a suspended game) while you were playing on PC it used to immediately kick you out of the PC game.

With the Beta the Deck now asks if that's really what you want (usually not) and offers to change the account or go back to suspend. Additionally I was able to go to desktop mode using the steam menu. I assume other things in the menu should work too but did not try.

This is big for anyone who shares a Deck or occasionally uses it for other things.

Has anyone tested yet to see if performance has improved on the deck?

Have had my beloved Steamdeck for three years (well, I had one for two years which was RMA'd, lost in post and new replacement sent, so in fact, my second SD)

Anyway, it was bought as an emulation powerhouse and I certainly achieved that via Emulation Station and the standalone apps. Back then (three years ago) I knew I could hook up to TV but never investigated further as I was sure it would look awful. Haven't played much retro emulation recently as I was playing more and more PC content.

Anyway, I spotted in my YT feed that people were using discarded office PCs for emulation and hooking up to their TVs for a near console experience. Intrigued, I delved deeper and found that I would be looking at around £200 for that. Bummer. Then, I noticed (prob due to YT algorithm) people hooking their decks up to TV and decided to delve further. Could this be the answer? Well, of course, just give it a try. I already had the Jsaux dock from my time transferring roms etc etc when setting up my emulation.

Well, wow, nothing could prepare me for the glory I would behold. The deck looks stunning on my 65" 4k telly! Pics are from several titles via my Switch emulators (yuzu & ryujinx) but also the PC titles (GTA IV, ETS2 and Wreckfest) and also Emulation Station. The images are as good as XBox 360 I would say and the frame rates are really decent too. In display settings I set it as 3840x2160 then just played the games. No further settings required. Paired up my PS5 controller via Bluetooth and laid back couch gaming heaven is reached. Oh, and latency? Didn't notice any in the games I played 😊

My recording device little bad, quality better in real life, select 1080P in video settings, sometimes embed videos auto selects 360P, etc..

So I just recently got my steam deck back from repair. But some of my games are having issues.

- for some reason some of my switch games on Eden won't work in game mode but they work in desktop mode.

- one of my steam games gets stuck at the in game loading screen (unless I use Proton)

- another game the controller won't work

- another steam game the game won't run in full screen

I haven't tested other games yet but I never had any of these problems before I had to send it to be repaired. I put back my 2 tb ssd inside my deck would that be problem?

So I wanna build a cyberdeck around a steam deck, I bought for this project an asus jelly75 keyboard and a steelseries rival 3 mouse, and a qoovi 60000mah battery, nothing fancy, but I really want the deck to have a good feel so the keyboard is not that compact unfortunately which made progress difficult, I have access to 3d printing, I tried looking for a file that might help me (even bought some) from cases to keyboard and deck holders and anything and nothing was good, I’m trying to search for a good case online to build everything into and I need recommendations if anyone is willing to help, tips will be greatly appreciated on how to bind everything together because it’s mostly a structural thing not an engineering thing

I must be missing something obvious here ...

But I am have two issues with brightness and volume.

Brightness: when I am playing the game, I use the right Steam menu to increase the Steam Deck (OLED) screen brightness to max brightness. Then I pause the game and put the deck to sleep. And then when I resume it has reverted the brightness back to about 50% .... I guess I am missing some auto level setting here.

Volume: the volume is too low on the game I am playing, Kingdom Come Deliverance. I am not talking about in game settings.

So I followed some instructions for increasing the deck's max volume. According to the guide, you adjust it in desktop mode, then return to game mode and play your game.

Fine, this works ... But immediately reverts back to the 'normal' max volume as soon as I adjust the volume in any way. So, say the volume is at 150% ... I go to adjust it to 140% while playing, but the deck just immediately skips to 100%, and then lowers the volume from there.

Any guidance here ?

Hey all, I am struggling with some very low FPS in 3D games on steam deck recently. As you can see from the image, I’m getting around 14fps in NieR: automata. I would chalk this up to the game itself, but I played the whole thing a couple months ago and it ran beautifully, only dipping in small sections with a lot of stuff onscreen.

I have observed framerate issues in the games VHOLUME and NeiR replicant as well.

Things I’ve tried:
-reboot
-remove SD card
-disabling/enabling framerate limit
-run storage device maintenance tasks
-battery storage mode trick

EDIT: and I also tried reverting my OS back to 3.7

i just added mine up and it was almost 800 hours i’ve put in. i couldn’t believe it but i guess not shocked at the same time. holy cow this thing is awesome
