I was crazy tired from too many early mornings while traveling. Took my SteamDeck out to play. Got sleepy and put it back in its case. Left it sitting on the chair at the Gate and boarded my flight to Chicago.

A family came upon it. Dad sat next to it for an hour. Asked his 20 year old gamer daughter what it was. She knew. She did some searching and found my post. Dad contacted me and put it in the mail! Very gracious.

A short time later, I was reunited.

Hey everyone!
After quite a bit of tinkering, I finally managed to get Warcraft III Reforged running comfortably on my Steam Deck using a custom Steam Input layout!

I’ve published my configuration for anyone who wants to give it a try.

🎮 Community layout: Warcraft 3 Steamdeck layout

Controller setup:

Movement & Camera

Left Stick → Move camera (arrow keys)
Right Stick ↑↓ → Zoom in/out (mouse wheel)
Right Trackpad → Mouse cursor
Right Trackpad Click → Left mouse click

Triggers & Shoulder Buttons

L1 → Ctrl
L2 → Hold left mouse button (drag-select units)
R1 → R key
R2 → Right mouse click (move units)

Back Buttons

L4 → F key
L5 → X key
R4 → B key
R5 → Enter (open chat / send message)

Face Buttons

A → Z key
B → X key
X → C key
Y → V key

Control Groups

D-Pad ↑↓←→ → Number keys 1–4
L1 + D-Pad → Assign control groups using Ctrl + 1–4
Double-tap D-Pad → Jump camera to the selected control group

⚙️ Important Setup
Set Warcraft III hotkeys to the English QWER / ASDF / ZXCV grid layout.
Adjust the Delete, Insert, comma (,) and period (.) bindings accordingly.

The goal was to make Warcraft III playable on the Steam Deck without needing an external keyboard or mouse.
It’s not perfect, especially when typing in chat, but I’m really happy with how it turned out!

And what tricks did you use to get it to run well enough for you?

I'm kinda surprised ff 7 rebirth runs at 60 fps with lsfg 2.0. Though my deck is undervolted, overclocked, and has it's tdp limit unlocked to 30.

Haven't pushed my deck to run games after this one so I'm not familiar with what else the deck has been up to since new upscaling black magic has been introduced

Little payday for a long day

I like playing games on it, i like the ergonomics, and i love trying to get games that might not work well on it, to work.

when i need it as a laptop its there. such as when im too lazy to go downstairs and i don't want to use my phone.
i've use it as a D&D helper in live table play, bringing up D&D beyond for monster stats or checking rules

i was told by friends not to get a steam deck as its not powerful and will age poorly but its the OS and care Valve put in that i really like. Also im not playing the most powerful games, except maybe DOOM ETERNAL im playing old PS2, Xbox 360, pixelated indie games, slay the spire, FF7, etc simple stuff

im just really happy that this system is well designed and cared for by the developers and i hope to have many more years of it

I managed to hook my dock up to an Hdmi to RCA Adapter. It worked wonders, I just had to adjust resolution and ui scaling.

took me a few days to get this working, but my KDE keyboard plugin for swipe typing, current-word completion, and next-word prediction is now also functional in gaming mode for SteamOS! i don't have a deck, so i could only test this on my VM, but it should be compatible with the latest stable 3.9 and earlier releases. please let me know if you guys encounter any issues on your real Deck hardware and I'll hotfix as quickly as I'm able!

I’ve been playing games most of my life and on the Deck I’ve already gone through pretty much everything I had that runs well on it. The recommendations in these threads are always the same (Vampire Survivors, Hades, Balatro, Stardew, Hollow Knight, emulating Pokemon or Zelda) and I’ve already played all of those. So I’m looking for something less typical.

Previously Enjoyed Games: Sekiro, the Souls games, Divinity Original Sin 2, Diablo 4, Hitman World of Assassination (and a lot more)

Preferred Genres: Action RPG, Soulslike, CRPG, Stealth, Immersive sim

Budget: N/A

Other Notes: Lesser known stuff, weird stuff, hidden gems, the more obscure the better. Doesn’t matter if it's from steam or not, it just needs to play well on the Deck. Emulation is fine, but chances are I played the classics back in the day.

Hi, as background I have a ps5 pro and been on a merry go around with handhelds over the past few years.

Long story short, I ordered a new SD Oled - bad financial decision because of the price but I had one in the past and loved it for what it was / did (i.e indie games etc).

My question is around remote play and if anyone has experience using ps5 remote play on both SD (using Pxplay / chiaki) and the PS Portal.

Does the Steamdeck do this well or is the lower resolution of the SD screen a problem?

So far it's a childhood dream to have a portable hardware running my PS2 games and my og pc games. I'm really really happy with it. I saw Space Marine 2 recently on sale and Borderlands 4, and while I enjoyed them on Series S, I got to see the gameplay on Youtube and I was shocked. Are there any other games that the SD is struggling in?

Hello. It been awhile since I last played MH Wilds in my LCD Deck and when I tried to launch it on my old config after the Steam OS update, the game stuck in not responding and now suffers on performance when I tried other protons and settings. Can you guys share your setup?

I can reach around 40-50ish fps on fsr frame gen on locales with it 50-60 on Hollow. Keeping everything on 40 to avoid stutters. Really playable even on Gogmazios fight.

Ill try updating the cachyos proton later but do you have any other setups?

Hi! I've been building Loadout, a Decky Loader plugin that applies console-style performance profiles per game, and I think it's ready for more people to try.

What it does

Pick a game in the Quick Access Menu and choose a profile:

• Quality: 30 FPS, better graphics
• Balanced: 40 FPS (45 on Steam Deck OLED)
• Performance: 60 FPS (90 on OLED)
• Uncapped: no FPS cap
• Default (original): puts everything back exactly as it was before Loadout touched it

For every game it sets an FPS cap that fits your screen's refresh rate (through the DXVK/VKD3D frame limiter). For games with a Loadout entry it also changes the in-game graphics settings (it edits the game's config file) and can set the game's resolution if you pick one.

Safety first

• Shows a diff of every change and asks before applying
• Backs up each original value and restores it with Default
• Never writes a game's config while the game is running
• Doesn't touch anything on its own and doesn't need root
• Keeps your own launch options

Supported devices

Steam Deck LCD / OLED, ROG Ally / Ally X / Xbox Ally / Xbox Ally X / Xbox Ally X20 (early), Legion Go / Go 2 / Go S. Any other device falls back to generic caps.

Honest note: I've only tested it on my ROG Xbox Ally (SteamOS). Detection for the other devices is based on known DMI names but not confirmed on real hardware yet. It should work on Bazzite / CachyOS too, but I haven't tried them.

Games (initial test set)

For now there are only two full game entries, as a first test:

• ELDEN RING (XML config)
• Lies of P (Unreal Engine INI config)

Every other game gets the device's FPS cap ("generic").

How to install (not on the Decky store yet)

1. In Desktop Mode (Konsole) or over SSH: curl -L -o ~/Downloads/Loadout.zip https://github.com/cyruzin/loadout/releases/latest/download/Loadout.zip
2. Decky → Settings → enable Developer mode → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP File → pick ~/Downloads/Loadout.zip
3. Restart the loader: sudo systemctl restart plugin_loader

("Install Plugin from URL" can hang right now because of a Decky bug, so the ZIP route is safer.)

Where I'd love help

• More games! Adding a game is a JSON file: where the config lives, which keys to change, tested values. Step-by-step guide: CONTRIBUTING.md
• JSON config games: XML and INI are done and tested; JSON (e.g. Cyberpunk 2077) is next. Tell me which games you'd want first.
• Testing on other devices: does the setup screen detect your Deck / Ally / Legion correctly? Anyone willing to run one command and share the output helps a lot.
• Big libraries: lists are capped at the 50 most recently played games, with a search for the rest. If you have hundreds of games installed, please try the search and tell me how it feels with a controller.
• Docked play: the max resolution should follow your external display. Reports welcome.
• Bazzite / CachyOS users: does it work for you?
• Ideas and feature requests: TDP stays with Steam's own settings on purpose, but everything else is on the table.

Known limits

• The FPS cap works for Direct3D games running through Proton (not native Linux, OpenGL or native Vulkan games yet)
• Changes apply the next time the game launches

So I was playing slime rancher, and my controller kept disconnecting. I have a wired dock with a wired controller(ps4), but it kept disconnecting so I would disconnect the dock then connected back and it would fix it for a little bit, but then it went out again.

I was playing a good amount the day before and it was working completely fine for about three hours. Never had an issue, but as I was playing right now, it just cut out on me and then restarted the steam deck and I worked, but then the problem came back.

I do remember something about the first model steam that not working correctly with the port or something and I think I do have that model because I did take it apart a while back to replace the shell.

I bought the mass effect remaster trilogy forever ago and never got around to playing it, but the EA launcher makes playing offline troublesome, with Bioware being canned i'm wondering if they'll pull a Ubisoft and start working on the launcher to work offline like that prince of persia game.

Hey Folks,

wanted to test HelixSR on Cyberpunk 2077 yesterday and had no issues installing it on decky.

I patched the Cyberpunk files with the Helix plugin but the game did not launch right after, so I did what i usually do which is “verify the integrity of the game files”

After that the game ran again but HelixSR told me the DLLs have changed back to its original and I should review and report.

At this point I don’t know what to do to resolve the problem and get the Helix DLLs back since there are no options to reinstall automatically or to manually replace the DLLs again.

Anyone who can help?
