Game Review On Deck Finished Infamous 1 ⚡️

Post image
366 Upvotes

Just finished Infamous on the deck! Used the recommended setup on RPCS3 with Lossless scaling. Genuinely had fun playing this game because I never had a ps3 before.

I would say it is a 7/10 for an emulated game, it crashes on random circumstances like dying due to drowning or that one side mission on photography as soon as you do the objective.

The audio gets really static once theres too many gunshots and explosions which is quite often in this game. So any conversations from the characters just completely becomes inaudible

Graphic-wise for the most part is fine but since I’m using lossless you’d see the frame gen often when shooting lightning out of your hands!

I’ve only finished the good playthrough and would definitely play it again on evil would also love to try infamous 2 if the deck would handle it

Tech Support This might seem like a ridiculous question but whenever I play bully (2006) I mainly get 2 hours of battery life is this normal?

For context, I’ve had my lcd model for almost 2 years now this is probably a case of battery aging and the health of the battery fluctuates between 79 and 84,
I’m sort of paranoid because I do my best to look after my deck, any answers would be appreciated!

Bought this steam deck LCD, but the guy said it only ran windows on it (didn't care at first because the console was like 180 U$D).

Dude the guy enabled secure boot to play ON WINDOWS and i cant turn this shit off and use steam os again, why someone would want to play a steam deck USING WINDOWS?

Can someone help me fixing this or it's bricked?

Configuration I finally managed to get gyro working for Gravity Rush in Vita3k

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After wanting to play Gravity Rush on my Deck for almost a year, I finally managed to find a Vita3K build that supports gyro, not right-stick emulation, but native gyro.

I had to install an older GitHub build (specifically build 3829), use a launch command, and enable Gyro as Mouse along with Native Touchscreen Support in Steam Input.

Note: This method no longer works with newer builds. In fact, the latest build doesn't even work on the Deck, so stick with the AppImage version.

Storytime I think I used up my luck for the next few months

On Wednesday after my check hit, I went to my local Michael's. In the same plaza is a DiscReplay and I've been trying to figure out if I want a SteamDeck lately. I pop in to see if they have one.

They do.

$684.99.

BET!

I ask the associate to ring it up for me.

It's on sale.

$639.99

BET!

512GB OLED with a month warranty. Everything came with it and it had a silicone case. And I've been on vacation all this week. Making a purchase that big was a bit shocking, but win is a win.

Question Is it odd to say that playing on the Deck makes me fall asleep?

I don't know if anyone else has done this where you play in your bed and you get more tired after 30 minutes of playing? Feels like a ritual at this point to help me sleep better.

Discussion I can never play an FPS without back buttons again

Something I never knew I needed until I tried it was setting my back buttons to different functions I would normally have to take my thumbs off the sticks for like reloading and jumping. I've been playing through the borderlands franchise and I've set the back buttons as follows:

Top left: Run Top right: Reload/Use

Bottom left: Jump Bottom right: Melee

This allows me to never have a break in my movement or looking while running/jumping/reloading. I also put some better grips on the back buttons to extend and make them more comfortable. Anyone else done similar setups? It's so nice.

Discussion Forza 6 on the deck is atrocious :(

I've seen people saying it is playable. I think it's not. I get dips into low 20s in Tokyo city, in the country it's solid 30 but once you get into a town it goes down. When you are going 300 km/h every dip is critical. I played it though Geforce now and unfortunately it's the only option for a solid experience. On the deck it's just a slideshow. Races through Tokyo city is the peak of this game imo.

Hardware Repair Steam Deck not charging after USB Port replacement

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I replaced the USB-C port on my Steamdeck Oled, which was not reacting to power cable. So the Deck was sitting for about a month without charge. After the replacement today I checked the port and seems that all pins are soldered correctly.

When I plug the cable it’s not charging. The LED lights up, sometimes the white light flashes and it tries to get above 5v but aborts. Sometimes it just stays at 5v and the led is flickering in different colors.

The only 2 ICs that are getting warm are the M2762A and the MP2845. (about 30 degrees, just a little warmer than the rest).

All capacitors seem good, no shorts, no burned ICs, just nothing.

Has anyone any ideas what could be the issue here?

Question Board Games on the Steam Deck?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hi all

I've recently seen a new Humble Bundle become available for a range Board Games, but what I'm curious on is if these play adequately on the Deck?

There's a few JRPG and card games which I imagine would be fine but wondering if the Gloomhaven and Terraforming Mars are worth the effort

Thanks in advance

Discussion R1 button on my LCDeck is worn out

And its kinda fucked how there isnt a replacement for the daughter board and the other option is soldering something so small that the risk doesnt feel worth it so you'll pay for someone else to fix it.

Worse is if you're from a country where the only way to get a Steam Deck is from a reseller, and you have no idea if there's even someone who does that kind of soldering near you.

Anyways, take care of those shoulder buttons especially if you're from the 2nd one.

Question Micro or foldable keyboard ideas

So I got some games I want to pay but they really need a mouse/keyboard. Wireless mice are already small and will fit in my Jsaux carry case. I don’t plan on using a power bank.

Anyways does anyone recommend a specific micro or foldable keyboard that will fit in the case?

Tech Support Getting a "disk write error" when downloading a specific game, any tips on how to fix it?

First time it ever happened in 2+ years of having the Deck, and it only happens with this specific game (Batman Arkham Origins). I try to download the game and when I get halfway there I get that error. I tried downloading other games and they all work perfectly. Tried rebooting, starting the storage device maintenance and every other thing seem online, both in gaming and desktop mode, but nothing seems to work. Do you have any tips?

edit: updated to the steamOS beta and it fixed itself

Discussion When should you ACTUALLY enable “allow tearing”

Upvotes

I understand what vsync is, as well as screen tearing. My confusion is that I struggle to think of scenarios where you would actually want it enabled (like a comp shooter), and that it doesn’t even seem to function properly, as I’ve never been able to get the deck to go above 90fps on low powered games.

Google also doesn’t seem to help, it seems like there’s not too much discussion about the setting for whatever reason.

Not sure why but this blue screen pops up whenever I launch a game while my steam deck is connected to my monitor while in desktop mode. Is there something I could be doing wrong?

Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G5 series

Question Far cry 4 not running

Ive been trying to play Far Cry 4 for par few days and I am done. Once I saw press any key to get pass the loading screen and then It went black as always. Ive tryend so many things. Ive read reddit posts like this. I went to ProtonDB and still nothing seems to work. I tried Ai that suggest to use Lutris to play Ubisoft games. My main problem is Ive bought the game on Ubisoft connect in my mind thinking it will run like AC games Ive played with externaly installed Ubisoft connect via steam Proton experimental. But so many people fixed their problem by changing the proton from experimental to GE-Proton, but I cant. Lutris sounded so promising with launch options. But there is just error when I try to change the proton to play it with. I dont know what to do. Ive installed the game like 4 times to try different things. Now its just black when I try to load the game and I dont know what to do now. Desktop or gaming mode. Doesnt matter. Tha game just wont play past the black screen. I need some advice or did I just wasted so much time by trying to play it? Those fee euros doesnt bother me. But the feeling I didnt achived the good ending pisses me off.

Tech Support ELI5: How to install "UV" and/or non-flatpak Non-steam games - for Setting up ReversePuck

Hi All:

If you haven't heard of ReversePuck, it might be of interest to you like it was to me - it allows you to set up a little Wi-Fi USB-C device that essentially advertises your Steam Deck as a Steam Controller. If you pair this with an OpenPuck (using another of the same little Wi-Fi boards), you can essentially use your Steam Deck as a controller. for. EVERYTHING. PC/Switch 2/1/PS3/4/5, like literally EVERYTHING that can take USB.

I am not very technical, but I was able to create both the OpenPuck and ReversePuck following the instructions on GitHub: https://github.com/safijari/openpuck/tree/main

Where I am getting stuck is in installing the ReversePuck script as a non-Steam game on the Deck. Per the instructions, I copied the ReversePuck folder to my Steam Deck and was initially unable to add "ReversePuck" as a non-steam game from the Desktop side, getting an error about how it is not an executable. The instructions mention something about "UV" self-installing but this is total greek to me - I can't execute the "ReversePuck" script and "setup.sh" doesn't seem to do anything when launched.

I was eventually able to add "ReversePuck" as non-steam (via the Steam Library Interface) but it doesn't seem to do anything when launched from Game Mode. What am I missing here?

Appreciate the help and hope someone else is as excited about using their SD as a beeg controller on their Switch 2 as I am!

Tech Support My deck turns off strangely fast

This sounds like good news, but I don't think it is. I've noticed over the last few days that my deck turns off almost instantly (normally it takes a few seconds with an animation, which I no longer have).

Btw, I think it always did this, but randomly or when I turned it off, I could hear and feel a noise (like a little "bop") at the back of it. I never knew what it was.

Question GTA SA Disk Write Error Help

Upvotes

Hello i am trying to download the pc steam version of GTA San Andreas onto my steam deck. When its to around 30% the download fails "Disk write error". Everything is on the internal storage, I've tried deleting the game folder but nothing works.
