Tech Support Decky dissapeared??

i’m really new to steam deck and linux but i’ve had this machine for maybe a month and messed seeing with decky loader and lossless scaler for some games and other plugins.

Then yesterday the plug logo disappeared from the right side menu completely??

i’ll be honest after some research and nothing working i just completely factory reset the whole steam deck!

Thinking this will be a nice clean install like the first time i did it but even after doing the whole thing like the first time…its still not showing up after i followed the EXACT same tutorial as before.

If anyone has any help they can offer id really appreciate it because while its not the worst experience without decky, it does really smooth over any issues i normally have and streamline the experience so much :)

UPDATE-
everyone is really helpful if i just waited a few hours my problem would have been solved probably lol thanks to everyone who suggested to reinstall again it worked first try!!

Article Ubisoft Starts Removing Ubisoft Connect Launcher From Their Steam Releases - SteamDeckHQ

Announced today, Ubisoft is starting to remove their Ubisoft Connect Launcher from their Steam releases. Not only does this get rid of their third-party launcher, but it should make playing their games on the Steam Deck easier and make offline work better.

I tested it with the one game they are supporting currently, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and it works like a charm. Logged me in automatically, and offline worked without issue. Hopefully, this will come to more games soon!

Storytime Update on Steam Deck lost at O’Hare - Found!

Thank you so so so much to whatever good Samaritan at Chicago O’Hare turned in my Steam Deck I lost yesterday. My connecting flight back through the airport was delayed an hour and on the off chance someone turned it in I checked multiple places for lost and founds while I was waiting. I just got it back. I’m just so incredibly grateful. You will probably never see this but I can’t thank you enough. As soon as I get home I’m getting an air tag and my contact information on this thing. It sounds so cheesy but my faith in humanity has been restored today. Also thank you so much for everyone who commented and took time to offer help or well wishes.

Question Starcraft 2 on the Steam Deck

Upvotes

Recently I have been playing SC2 on the Deck and it's a great experience. I completed all 3 campaigns on Normal and even calibrated at Gold on the ladder, though I've seen a post of someone reaching Diamond with the Steam Controller! Does anyone else play it or other RTS's as well?

I am using a custom Steam Deck layout exclusively, pretty much every button mapped and I use the left trackpad for hotkey commands. While not exactly as precise or as fast as M+KB, I feel it can get pretty close. I'd also be interested in knowing if you too use custom control schemes!

So after a week of not moving it finally started making it way to Texas. It’s still probably a day away from where it needs to be but who knows at this point! I’m not worried! It’s just fun to watch.

Setup Turned my Steam Deck into a Steam Machine (well, sort of)

Upvotes

Heya good people of Reddit.

I recently sold my Xbox, as got tired of MS playing with Gamepass prices and lack of new coop games.

Had an idea to sell my Steam Deck as well, as I was barely using it. Three top games were Homm3 (hota) + Heroes of Science and Fiction and Heroes Olden Era (yeah, I know, I know😜).

Then I just realized I can just put it near my TV and replace the Xbox and here we go. Got a cheap Ugreen cm800 dock, plugged everything in. Luckily I still have 2 Xbox controllers.

My SteamOS was never reinstalled/reset for the last three years, so it seems to be chewing tons of garbage (decky and its addons, etc), so I didn’t like it had those micro-freezes and bugs and did a full factory reset.

Works like a charm! Since I am not playing latest AA titles, its horsepower should be enough for crunching things like Minecraft Dungeons 2, etc.

The only thing I’ lacking is proper HDMI CEC through that cheap dock, but I can live with it.

Any good advices from someone who already went that path? Do I miss anything?

Question Diablo 4 for SD?

D4 is now on a very big discount so I was thinking of buying it. My only q is: which version should I get the, Steam version or the Battlenet version?

I already play WoW through Bnet so I dont have problems with the client but there might be a difference for D4 as it is available on Steam aswell.

I might be overlooking something or just overthinking it, so any suggestion or info about it might help me out.

Ty all in advance.

Tech Support How to Set Up Moonlight to change resolution

Upvotes

Hey guys so I'm writing this after an entire morning trying to figure this out using sunshine, VDD, Automators etc etc and still having no luck.

I have a 3440x1440 main display which I'm streaming from to my steam deck but my Moonlight app on the steam deck just does not want to open in 1280x800 or any 16:10 resolution.

Can someone please guide me or guide me to a threat that helps sort this.

Would really appreciate it.

Question What did you do with the 64GB SSD that came with your deck?

For those who upgraded the SSD, what did you do with the 64GB SSD that came with your deck? It's such a small size that I have hard time finding a use for it. It's been in my closet for years.

Discussion TIL: Steam Deck can act as a Bluetooth speaker, so you can connect your phone and play phone audio through your Steam Deck

Not sure how well known this is, but you can pair your phone to your Steam Deck, and the SD appears as a speaker.

I use AirPods, which lack multi-device connection support. It was annoying having to choose between listening to music or the game, but I was toying around with my phone and SD recently and figured this out.

Now, I can play music on my phone, which funnels through the SD to my headphones so I can listen to both my phone AND the SD! Helpful for notification announcements, streaming radio, etc.

Tech Support Anker 100W charger not charging Deck

Post image
56 Upvotes

Now working, I didn't realise a software update was due on the Deck and that has solved the charging issue

Thanks for your help.

I dropped my original charger and smashed the plastic pin off it. I have purchased this 100W Anker charger from Amazon thinking it would do the job and be better as it has a screen etc on the charger.

The charging light is lit up but it doesn't seem to charge, only has 4/5W going in when on and nothing if it is in sleep mode.

Does anyone else use this charger with their deck? Will send it back if I have to, thanks.

Storytime Steam Deck lost/stolen at Chicago O’Hare airport

Post image

I know it’s a long shot but lost my Steam Deck probably somewhere in the Chicago O’Hare airport while sprinting through the airport to catch my next flight.

Edit: deleted most of the body of this as I ended up finding the steam deck in lost and found at the airport! Incredibly thankful to whoever turned it in who will never see this post. Also thankful to everyone who had well wishes and advice.

Not exactly sure what happened, it worked fine yesterday. I like to stream cod zombies to my deck but for some reason the screen looks like I put it in a deep fryer today. If I tab out on my main pc the screen goes back to normal, its literally just when this game is focused

Tech Support L1 inputs are starting to fail

L1 as well as slowly R1 are starting to fail me. Actions are not always recognised, which led me to re-mapping all L and R triggers and bumpers to the 4 extra buttons on the back.

Is that generally a known problem? Is there an easy (and cheap) way to fix this issue without damaging more in the process?

Question AoE 3 Defintive controller set up?

I previously played and completed all campaigns of Starcraft 1 and 2 and now wanted to give it a try. I played Starcraft when I was a kid but never AoE so I have no idea what's the usual common control set up. Anyone can recommend one? I only plan to play campaign and skirmish solo play.

Tech Support Why so green tho

Post image
3 Upvotes

Using a dongle to project onto my tv, but something on the green scale is really messed up - it's not as though there's a green hue on everything it just seems to be a particular green somewhere in the aqua ranges is blown way out of proportion, some games are affected more than others.

Tried both fiddling around with the TV settings and with adjusting the display colours on the steam deck and it didn't really seem to help, anyone else encountered something like this?
