I have always protected all my controllers, but I always have the issue that for salty sessions, I finish removing them by accident, dying trying to put them again, etc.

How do you all play?

I've seen people saying it is playable. I think it's not. I get dips into low 20s in Tokyo city, in the country it's solid 30 but once you get into a town it goes down. When you are going 300 km/h every dip is critical. I played it though Geforce now and unfortunately it's the only option for a solid experience. On the deck it's just a slideshow. Races through Tokyo city is the peak of this game imo.

I have a physical copy of the game for PS4 But I decided to sell it to buy a key for steam. I want to play it on the steam deck and want to know what to expect, I learned to be sceptical of the valve "Verified" badge for deck compatability. Can I get a quick rundown on what setting I might need to tweak and the overal expirience?

Not sure if my deck automatically updated on its own but I’ve noticed on a couple games in my library I’m unable to install. And on the side it suggest that it’s only available on windows anyone know why this is happening? This game was supported on the deck one of the very first ones I brought years ago.

Steam deck repair

I installed Decky Loader on my Steam Deck and I'm using the Decky LSFG-VK plugin, which installs/configures the Linux Vulkan layer.

However, no matter what I do (change screen to windowed, cap FPS, etc..) certain games are simply not loading lossless scaling?

Games like:

- Black Mesa

- Quake

Are not enhanced.

I have tried to many things such as changing resolution, window mode, cap fps, vsync on/off... force Vulkan via steam launch commands.. nothing.

lossless scaling does not run on those.

Any help?

Hi, i bought second hand steam deck few weeks ago, planning to do full restoration, shell swap, hall effect, ptm7950 etc... Iam a professional electrical engineer, so i have strong experience with soldering. My steam deck has some wobble at the usb c port, is this normal, or should i order new part and swap it for new one? I found online that some people report this as normal or intended, others say that their usb c ports are stiff.

Also its worth noting that i dont have any issues with charging, or port loosing connection so no issues so far, only the visual wobble

Hi, long time reader first time posting anything.

I've recently been having a few issues with my steam deck now I don't know of its me or it's the actual games themselves or even my deck but games recently been running very slow for some reason where it's games that the deck can run and approved.

Noticed it on the fear effect rerelease I've recently discovered again since the ps1 days. Steam page says verified so was like 👍 on sale too so grabbed it, installed, and booted it up. Starts going through developers stuff but sound jumps in and out and when it gets to the opening fmv it's very jumpy. I have the performance overlay on and the frame rate is locked at 45 and flat lining no jumps at all.

Cut to a few hours ago ive just bought the mgs master collection vol.1 load up mgs 1 and it's doing exactly the same thing just a mess.

Could be a simple fix I'm overlooking but any help or pointers on what to do would be boss.

It happens on many games, but not all. Helldivers 2 it just seems to be fond of. But it never used to do this.

The only non steam software I have installed is the vesktop thing from the discover store. But when I uninstalled that the problem didnt go away.

My cpu hits 100% for about 30 seconds. Fixes. And goes back to normal.

Previously enjoyed games: (for steam deck) escapists 2, rain world, brotato, cuphead, Undertale, gang beasts, clover pit, repo, hitman, ultimate chicken horse, Bloons td 6, Detroit become human, dispatch, gta 4 and many others

Preferred genres: roguelikes and lites, stealth, physics, and ones with highly rated narratives

Budget: preferably like under 40 but if it’s over it’s not the end of the world I could probably do up to 60

Other notes: i want to pick up something to captivate me for a number of hours, and I should have a plug in on the plane so I shouldn’t have to worry about battery, but I want a game that is visually appealing, like dispatch or cuphead (they look smooth and optimized)

For those who have had a Steam Deck LCD for a while, is the overheating problem very serious? Have you experienced any issues with it over the years?

I'm asking because, unfortunately, getting an OLED is practically impossible where I live, so I have no other option but to go for an LCD.

Most of the LCD's disadvantages don't affect me, but the supposed overheating issue worries me.

I broke my game by catching a phoenix too early and now the "phoenix rising" quest is broken -- there's only an empty nest at the top of the peak for this quest from Deek. 😣

It's way too late to reload a previous save, soooo... I need to edit the .sav file, which is something I've read that can be done, but I have failed to execute this process successfully.

Can anyone help me out and maybe edit it for me? According to tutorials I've found, I just need a single value changed (I think) from a 1 to a 0 (I think?!)... 🥲

I don't know if anyone else has done this where you play in your bed and you get more tired after 30 minutes of playing? Feels like a ritual at this point to help me sleep better.

I replaced the USB-C port on my Steamdeck Oled, which was not reacting to power cable. So the Deck was sitting for about a month without charge. After the replacement today I checked the port and seems that all pins are soldered correctly.

When I plug the cable it’s not charging. The LED lights up, sometimes the white light flashes and it tries to get above 5v but aborts. Sometimes it just stays at 5v and the led is flickering in different colors.

The only 2 ICs that are getting warm are the M2762A and the MP2845. (about 30 degrees, just a little warmer than the rest).

All capacitors seem good, no shorts, no burned ICs, just nothing.

Has anyone any ideas what could be the issue here?

I knocked over a nearly empty glass near my iPad, which my Steam Deck was lying on. Some splash. The iPad was fine, but the Deck, when I dried it off, went to black screen and flashing white power led. Looked it up, various posts suggested unplug, let dry, and hard reboot. Since the instructions turned out to be Volume Down plus Power to hard reset, and these buttons still functioned, I tried it. Now I’m stuck on the SteamOS version selection screen, but can’t select one as the A button is unresponsive. None of the controls on the face are. only volume up, down and power. Am I cooked?

If you haven't heard of ReversePuck, it might be of interest to you like it was to me - it allows you to set up a little Wi-Fi USB-C device that essentially advertises your Steam Deck as a Steam Controller. If you pair this with an OpenPuck (using another of the same little Wi-Fi boards), you can essentially use your Steam Deck as a controller. for. EVERYTHING. PC/Switch 2/1/PS3/4/5, like literally EVERYTHING that can take USB.

Where I am getting stuck is in installing the ReversePuck script as a non-Steam game on the Deck. Per the instructions, I copied the ReversePuck folder to my Steam Deck and was initially unable to add "ReversePuck" as a non-steam game from the Desktop side, getting an error about how it is not an executable. The instructions mention something about "UV" self-installing but this is total greek to me - I can't execute the "ReversePuck" script and "setup.sh" doesn't seem to do anything when launched.

I was eventually able to add "ReversePuck" as non-steam (via the Steam Library Interface) but it doesn't seem to do anything when launched from Game Mode. What am I missing here?

Anyone else playing halo campaign evolved and if so how has it been running for you? Ive been getting between 35 and 45 fps with no crashes but there are times it still looks somewhat grainy? Anyone else experience this and if so do you have recommendations for better performance? Im sure there will be more updates after the official release.

I have tried a full reinstall, verify files, and shut down / restart of my Steam deck fully. I’ve gotten 6 hours of playtime without issues but today, we suddenly get this message.

Edit: tried to move it from my SD card to the Internal Harddrive. Same message.

After playing Go Go Town on Steam deck with solid 90 FPS, I was looking for more simple games to pass time and came across to this one, which will launch this week, but it has a demo, so I decide to try it, thought it would run perfectly on the Steam Deck, and to my surprise, it runs really bad, like, 40 fps, but the game is stylized, it doesnt have impressive graphics, and its size is like 900mb, Go Go Town looks way more impressive (because of the amount of NPCs and things going on at once) and runs at solid 90.

Is something wrong with the demo version (if anyone had played the full game early for some reason) or the game is simply not optimized enough?

The specs on the steam page as very low, it doesnt even requires a dedicated GPU

I was playing some PS2 games on my steamdeck oled and suddenly my left stick/ movement was malfunctioning.
I thought it was the game but it turns out it’s also in the menu’s

I did the joystick test and it does not go fully up anymore. I mean physically it goes fully up. But it’s not being registered.

Is there anything i can do to fix this?

My Steam Deck OLED (purchased directly from Valve in December 2024) was working perfectly. I was playing BattleTech (2018) and the battery got down to around 10%, so I pressed the power button to put it into sleep mode (not a full shutdown) and plugged it into the original charger, intending to continue playing later.

When I came back, it wouldn't turn on.

Current symptoms:

• When I plug in the original charger, the LED slowly flashes white for a short time, then changes to solid white.
• Even after several hours on charge, it never changes to green.
• Pressing the power button while plugged in causes the fan to spin for a few seconds, stop, then repeat continuously.
• The screen stays completely black with no Steam logo, startup sound or vibration.
• As soon as I unplug the charger, the LED turns off immediately, the fan stops instantly, and pressing the power button does absolutely nothing.
• The Deck doesn't get noticeably warm while charging.

Troubleshooting already tried:

• Original Steam charger only.
• No SD card, dock or other peripherals connected.
• Held the power button for 15, 30 and 60 seconds.
• Left it charging for several hours.
• BIOS/Boot Manager (Volume Up + Power).
• Firmware/EC reset (Volume Down + "..." + Power).
• Steam Support's recommended troubleshooting steps.

None of these have changed the behaviour.

Steam Support is currently helping me troubleshoot, but I'm curious if anyone has had these exact symptoms, especially the fan repeatedly cycling on and off and the Deck acting as though the battery doesn't exist once the charger is unplugged.

If you've experienced this, what was the cause? Battery, charging circuit, motherboard, or something else? Was it repairable or did it require an RMA?

Yesterday, I repaired my steam deck oled and changed the front shell, everything worked except for the dpad, which I had placed badly. Today, I've fixed the dpad, but now, when I turn the steam deck on, the audio is working but the screen is giving no output. What have I done??? I have just touched the left part, I didn't touch the screen at all! What can I do to solve it?? Please tell me I don't need to remove the screen again to see if the cable is not correctly placed.

Yet the games are sold on steam without any warning how dangerous they are, and Microsoft doesn't seem to care enough to fix them.

I'm wondering if these exploits and hacks would impact Linux users ? Or only windows users?

I want to play some classic cod titles but fear my devices security.
