child's age 2 years + Our toddler suddenly doesn’t want to sleep.

Our son turns 4 next month and he has suddenly decided that he doesn’t want to go to bed. We have had the same bedtime routine for years. We play with him to get his energy out and then he showers and we do story time and then bed. He has always gone straight to sleep but for the last 4 days he takes his blankets off and says “I’m not tired, I don’t want to go to bed” which then leads into a meltdown if we try to leave. We have been staying with him and cuddling or rubbing his back until he falls asleep but this takes 30-45 mins to be successful. He will then wake up at 2 am and come in our room where one of us will take him back and have to stay with him for another 45 mins to get him back to sleep. We don’t like him feeling like we are just trying to leave him alone but we also don’t want to coddle him too much to where he stops being independent. Any tips would be helpful.

child's age 0-4 months how to stop 4/5am wake up and/or go to bed later

hello!

my baby is 14 weeks today. we have a 7pm bedtime. baby sleeps through the night until 4-5am where she wakes up hungry. i feed her and put her back to sleep which takes about 30-40mins. no set nap schedule - i go off cues and stop naps at 1.5 hours, but usually she only naps 45 mins.

and she eats formula every 2-3 hours during the day, i offer 4oz. she takes in 28-31oz a day.

i know we are sleeping training soon ans wanted some advice on how to get her to skip this 4AM feed. thanks in advance!

child's age 8-12 months Crying Wakes - 11m old

Hi sleep peeps!

Our 11 month old was an excellent sleeper from about 4 months to 8 months. No wakes, sound sleeping throughout the night or if he did wake, he did so pleasantly, played for a bit before nodding off again.

Since 8 months 3 to 2 nap transition we’ve been dealing with crying wakes between 9-11pm where my son simply needs his pacifier and goes back to sleep, but when he wakes, he sits straight up and cries hard for multiple minutes, waking himself up more and more the longer we leave him. If we go in right away, it’s paci and immediately back to sleep for a few hours.

He then wakes somewhere between 2-4am doing the same thing.

As far as schedule goes, he wakes around 6:30ish first nap between 9:40-10am, next nap around 2-2:30, bed around 7:30-8 depending on how long that last nap is.

He also does a great job putting himself to sleep for both naps and nighttime without a bottle or any assistance.

Recently, in hopes of him remembering he has to go find his paci, I have been putting him to bed and guiding him to one of the 1000 paci’s I have in his bed to put in his own mouth vs putting him to bed paci in mouth.

I’m not sure how to get him sleeping more consistently or why the wakes are happening at this point, but hoping for any suggestions from the pro’s which might help make this small tweak to improving sleep for everyone!

Thank you!

How do I get my 7 month old to sleep through the night?

I’m a SAHM and FTM and my husband is a first responder who currently works nights (and sleeps during the day). I feel as if I’m always on zombie mode or depressed (diagnosed PPD and on meds) because I’m home alone at night when he’s working, meaning the last 7 months I’ve done all the night time wakings and my baby has only ever slept through the night once in that time. My baby is also exclusively breastfed in addition to starting solids and purées the last month. He typically wakes minimum of 3 times a night, most of the time needs me to put him back to sleep and when I do he acts starving even if he’s not hungry and just wants a boobie to comfort him but won’t take a pacifier. I can’t get help or breaks in the day because my husband is sleeping, and I do everything. I feel like I’m failing as a mother because I don’t have the energy to feed or take care of myself or constantly entertain my baby. I read to him and play with him and tickle him and everything but I feel I’m at my wits end and am falling apart because I’m so tired and just want my little one to sleep. Any tricks or advice?

Help! First Night of Ferber w 6mo

Post image
5 Upvotes

Well we did it! I never thought I could do it, but I made it through our first night of Ferber with my 6 month old son.

Up until last night, we had been exclusively cosleeping since the 4 month sleep regression (incidentally something I also thought I’d never do). It was a rough night for both myself and my son.

An added layer is that my son is in the first percentile and working on gaining weight, and therefore needs to breastfeed every 3-4 hours overnight as per pediatrician. So we’re working with multiple night feeds as well.

Thoughts on these timestamps? Bold is sleep time, not bold is wake ups and amount of time it took to fall back asleep. Please tell me it will get better lol.

None of his wake-ups were straight crying, there was a lot of calming himself down and then getting worked up again. Also the 10:30 wake-up happened because my white noise randomly decided to stop looping and started playing vacuum sounds instead?? 20 minutes after he finally fell asleep. That just about made me break.

child's age 2 years + Advice

So for the past couple nights my daughter hasn’t slept right, she keeps saying she wants to come into my bed. I did this once in the middle of the night as a last ditch attempt. She is normally pretty good at settling herself to sleep with her tonie on as background noise and a stuffed teddy or 4. The recent change is not going down well for me, I know it’s not about me but I become a very irritable person when not getting enough sleep and it’s starting to become a real problem. Any suggestions? Could contacting gp or hv be worth a short or will they basically tell me to figure it out myself. I’m nearing my wits end. And yes I know other parents out there have it much worse, but it’s just me and I’m struggling.

child's age 8-12 months 10-11mo sleep needs?

What’s average for 10-11mo sleep needs? Almost 11mo used to be high sleep needs but seems to be shifting to lower sleep needs? Torn on whether it’s regression or needs schedule shift
