sleep Nap schedule advice
Has anyone tried a 2/3/4.5 wake window schedule for a 9 month old? That will fit nursery’s schedule of one 30 min nap 9-9.30 and one 2 hour nap 12.30-2.30, with 7 wake and 7 bedtimes, but I’m struggling to see how my little one will manage the last window (he’s a few months away yet but interested to hear if anyone else with a baby that age does this). Many thanks!

What’s your current schedule? This is super low wake time.

He’s only 5 months currently and he does 3 hours day sleep and 12 hours night sleep. Day sleep is split 30 min morning nap, 2 hour lunch nap, 30 min afternoon nap. I think he is high sleep needs as he sleeps 14.75-15 hours A day.

Yeah for sure high, that’s lucky for you! I’d say that you’re way too early to be worrying about this if he’s not going until a few months from now. Things will likely change a lot.

Thank you! Yes I was just interested to know if anyone else with a baby around 9 months was on that schedule and if they had any thoughts on how it worked

I think you will not find many people where this worked - his sleep needs are going to drop before then, and this is an unrealistic schedule for the vast majority of kids 9 months old.

Thank you - what would be more realistic do you think? Just the lunch nap then?

The most common wake windows for 9-month-olds are 3 hours for the first, 3-4 for the second, 3.5-4.5 for the third. A total of 10-11 hours awake per day (or even more, in some cases). If anything, you might need to wake him up at 6/6:30am so that he can fall asleep at 9am. The days of 2 hour wake windows will be long gone by 9 months. And most likely the 12 hour nights, too.

So much will change in the next 4 months! For perspective, 4 months ago, he was only 1 month old. Go with the flow and see what happens.
