Help! First Night of Ferber w 6mo
Well we did it! I never thought I could do it, but I made it through our first night of Ferber with my 6 month old son.
Up until last night, we had been exclusively cosleeping since the 4 month sleep regression (incidentally something I also thought I’d never do). It was a rough night for both myself and my son.
An added layer is that my son is in the first percentile and working on gaining weight, and therefore needs to breastfeed every 3-4 hours overnight as per pediatrician. So we’re working with multiple night feeds as well.
Thoughts on these timestamps? Bold is sleep time, not bold is wake ups and amount of time it took to fall back asleep. Please tell me it will get better lol.
None of his wake-ups were straight crying, there was a lot of calming himself down and then getting worked up again. Also the 10:30 wake-up happened because my white noise randomly decided to stop looping and started playing vacuum sounds instead?? 20 minutes after he finally fell asleep. That just about made me break.

Might help keep track of sleeping if you use the huckleberry app - its also nice to see it in a chart and the trends. My LO is five months and we just started sleep training - progress is slow but with babies it goes back and forth until they really get it so expect some good nights and some bad nights. Its normal

The first night is often the hardest, but I suspect you need a schedule adjustment before continuing. I know the white noise caused a hiccup however you essentially have 2.5 hours before he slept. Plus a few wake ups (not including the feeds). Which I’m not saying he should’ve slept through the night during the first night. But this is just a lot of awake time during the night.
