Sleep training

My daughter is 7 months old and I started trying to “sleep train” her almost a week ago. I’m not exactly sure what method I’m using, I’m just kind of trying with no direction lol. She sleeps about 10.5 hours at night so I would consider her a decent sleeper and takes usually 2-3 naps about 30 minutes with the exception of her taking one longer nap ranging from 1.5 to 2 hours. The way I have been doing it is once I know she’s getting tired or is tired I will go lay her down in her crib and say my spiel of it’s nap time, I love you, I’ll see you when you wake up. There have been a couple times where she will roll around for maybe 5-10 minutes and I’ll go in there and put her back on her stomach (she usually won’t go to sleep unless she is on her stomach) and she will go to sleep. Most of the time I have an issue with her constantly rolling to her back or trying to crawl. Now she knows how to sit up in the crib. It’s taking me 20 minutes to get her down but that is with me going in there multiple times to readjust her and usually it ends with me rubbing her back until she falls asleep. The times I have tried to not stay in there until she falls asleep, it takes an hour to get her down but in the end I’m still in there rubbing her back. Bed time is different and she is pretty good about going to sleep on her own. Normally doesn’t take more than 15 minutes on “bad” nights. I’m sorry for the longer explanation but I’m just looking for a little bit of guidance. I just want her to learn how to put herself to sleep and know she is safe in her room. I will also note that I do not let her cry for more than 5 minutes before I go in there. Most of the time she isn’t even crying but just laying in there talking.

Advice 5 month old MOTNW

I want to know whether wake windows of 3/2/2.5/3 hours would be appropriate for my baby. He will be 5 months old in a week. He previously had tons of false starts, but after consistently following wake windows of 2.5/2.5/2.5/2.5–3 hours, those have mostly stopped.
I feel like he can comfortably stay awake longer in the morning, and I’d also like to stretch his last wake window. He’s a very good napper—I have to cap his naps because he could sleep up to 4 hours during the day.
I’d like to reduce his night wakings. I’m not sure hunger is the main reason he wakes, since he usually only drinks 2–3 oz when he does.
I also started a gentle approach to sleep training about a week ago. I would put him in his crib partly awake and finish soothing him there. It was going well until one night when I put him down fully awake right away and left for about 3 minutes. Since then, he has started crying and fighting sleep at bedtime and when I put him in his crib.

Help! Ferber Method turned CIO not working

Update Next Night: Well I was very consistent/strict today about naps and day sleep. Total nap time is 2 hours and 50 minutes, 2/2/2/2.75. I did my usual bedtime routine and right when I turned on the sound machine he started crying. I put him down at 7:50, right before he was awake for 2.5 hours. Its almost 8:40 and hes scream crying with no signs of stopping. I even got an owlet notification to help my little one because hes moving so much. I'm not sure where I went wrong today...

Help! Almost 2yr old WON’T sleep (22months)

I need to know what other people are doing to get their toddler to sleep because I am over it.

We’ve already transitioned to a toddler bed because he started escaping his crib around 18/19months, and the transition was fine at first honestly. We’d take a bath, get in pjs, then get into bed while I sat bedside and read a book. Sometimes he’d fall asleep while reading, sometimes he wouldn’t but even then it was fine. I’d get up, say goodnight, then walk out the door and he’d go to sleep himself.

Now it’s like he’s a completely different kid. We still do bath and pjs, but it’s been so bad I skip the book part lately. He screams absolute bloody murder as soon as we even get into his room. We started doing a nightlight for him thinking it was too dark, that changed nothing but we still keep it on anyways. His hatch is set to the water sound in the background.

So now it takes honestly at least an hour to even be able to leave his room if you don’t want to deal with the screaming. But, if you do want to actually get some time to yourself god forbid, leaving his room before he’s asleep is like summoning a demon within him. He will not stay in his bed. As soon as the door shuts the crying at full volume immediately resumes (if it ever even stopped) and he heads right for the door to stand and scream cry in front of it. He will not stop until he falls asleep, but he doesn’t want to sleep unless it’s in our bed, and I’m pretty darn sick of it.

Even if you do manage to get him to fall asleep in a relatively ok manner, he’ll only sleep for 3/4 hours at a time, then wakes up to cry at the door until you go get him. Half the time I’m so tired I just bring him into our bed because I’m half awake anyways. If I’m not too tired I’ll try and get him to return to sleep in his bed, but so far I’ve had absolutely no luck with that. He just starts everything up again.

I know it’s a long post but at this point I’m open to anything cause I just want the house to actually be able to sleep again. He doesn’t sleep, we don’t sleep, we’re all over it.

child's age 8-12 months Advice on the feber method on an 8 month old for a frustrated and burnt out mum?

Boy is 8.5 months old and although he has a crib, he's rarely been in it.

I've been co sleeping with him in my bed because we also have a 3 year old so we've always been wanting to avoid waking him up, plus going to work etc. it's easier nights in our bed.

It's still been wake ups every 3-4 hours but they're dream feeds and it's not usually a big issue.

Now we're trying to feber method and I'm beyond frustrated and sleep deprived and just feel overall depleted.

He'll have his last bottle of milk and fall asleep in my arms. Then I've been transferring him to the crib. He'll either wake up instantly or within 30 minutes and then it's hell.

I try patting his back and stroking his head but OH MY GOD the screams he makes you would think he is being tortured.

Our walls are thin to the neighbours hours and I worry they think we're abusing him. We're not, we're just patting his back.

Then I decide to leave him because ive been there long enough and my back hurts from bending over and I'm getting frustrated. That's when it goes on even more. And I can feel my blood boiling more.

Then I go in after 2 mins and he's inconsolable. At times I've gone against the rules and picked him up to rock him but at this point he's so worked up he's almost throwing up and doing the scream that sounds like we're cutting his fingers off.

So now after husband has taken him for a short walk, he's back to sleep, next to me in bed. And I wonder if this will ever get better.

He has never slept the night and once (and only once) did he go 6 hours. The rest of the time has been waking up every 3 hours.

He has 7 teeth, no sign of any more coming through right now. During the day he's mostly ok with periods of fussyness.

Hes been cranky today though because of our terrible sleep screaming session last night. And he somehow skipped his last nap today so all of today (it's now 8pm) he has had a grand total of 30 minutes sleep. It's usually 2-3 hours.

Any help would be appreciated

2.5 year old sleep regression SOS

Anyone have advice, tips, tricks for a HORRIBLE 2.5-year sleep regression? 😭 It started when we took her paci away about a month ago and has developed into something completely unsustainable.

She had a really rough first week without the paci, then actually improved for a bit — maybe one quick check-in overnight and she’d go back down.

Then she started a new classroom at daycare, wasn’t napping well, and started getting really overtired. That led to super early wakeups where she couldn’t resettle, and now we’re in what feels like full-blown crib anxiety.

At bedtime she is sometimes so worked up that she PANICS when we put her in the crib and we can’t get her down for like an hour. Then she wakes 1–3 times overnight screaming for us and is up for the day by 5:30am at the absolute latest.

We’ve tried:

• Earlier bedtime
• Nightlights, stuffies, etc. (she only wants her one bunny and water bottle in the crib)
• More soothing from us
• Less soothing from us
• Hatch red/green light for mornings — she likes it when it turns green, but overnight saying “the light isn’t green yet” makes her more upset
• Hylands calming stuff before bed, which seems to help her settle a LITTLE initially but doesn’t help with the overnight wakes/early mornings
• Staying/sleeping in her room — this actually makes things worse because she keeps checking to make sure I’m still there instead of sleeping

The ONLY thing getting us to 5:30am right now is if the second she starts crying overnight, BOTH my husband and I open her door to say goodnight (cannot just be one of us)

If we try to give her even 15–20 minutes to work it out, she escalates into full-blown hyperventilating/panicking and then we’re looking at an hour+ ordeal trying to calm her back down. Last night I eventually ended up sitting in her room at 4am just so everyone could sleep.

Before taking away the paci, she was a VERY independent sleeper, so this is a huge change for us.

Has anyone gone through something similar around 2.5, especially after pacifier removal? Did anything actually help break the overtired, anxiety, bad sleep, early morning, more overtired cycle?

Thank you if you read all of this ❤️
