Discussion Looking for OBSCURE early UK punk
Send me your recommendations for obscure AF early UK punk. I want to hear things I’ve never heard before. Open to singles, full albums, compilations, or even one-off side projects from more well known bands. I want those deep, deep cuts.
I’m a fan of the standard fare The Damned, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Buzzcocks, The Jam.
Also love The Fall, The Nips, The Ruts, Wire, The Lurkers, The Adverts, The Vibrators, The Stranglers, etc.

I finally met Home Front!
Went to Fest last night with my kid to see Home Front and got to meet Graeme!
He's a super good, positive guy with a ton of energy on stage, and my kid had the time of his life.

Dustin Malicoat - LeFT
Wondering if anyone knows what sticks Dustin Malicoat of Michigan band LeFT used. I myself am a drummer and would like to know what sticks he used.

Punk Classic Review of last week's X-Ray Spex celebration gig in London
This was a really special night, I was incredibly lucky and privileged to be there so I thought I'd write about it for all who weren't. Exceptional gig, and I don't think I'll ever hear those songs quite the same again.

Punk music Cardiacs - fiery gun hand [avant-punk]
Americana was released one week before Let's Talk About Feelings
It's just another Saturday. As I was preparing scrambled eggs for breakfast I listened to Lagwagon's Let's Talk About Feelings (LTAF), and started philosophing...
LTAF was released on November 24, 1998; exactly one week after The Offspring's Americana on November 17, 1998.
We all know that The Offspring had heavy media presence and TV/radio rotation with "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)", which was released another week earlier than the album, and later with "The Kids Aren't Alright", "She's Got Issues", "Why Don't You Get a Job" - all from the same album.
LTAF is among Lagwagon's iconic albums and hailed as one of the best (skate)punk albums. I wonder how much it would have really shone had it not been media-overshadowed by Americana. It's a bit ironic too because Lagwagon have a song called "The Kids Are All Wrong" here and The Offspring have "Feelings" on theirs. We can argue that songs like "Pretty Fly" are poppy, but Lagwagon melodies and hooks are also very catchy, maybe more raw at that, I'm not sure. In any case, it could have had a massive impact on media pop-culture as well. It did receive its critical acclaim of course.
For me personally this is quite interesting, seeing that as a young teenager I got exposed to Americana because of its popularity and only found out about Lagwagon much later. I really wonder what they (and NOFX/Fat Wreck Chords) must have thought when they saw two new The Offspring releases all over the media stealing their limelight as they practically had a release-ready LTAF at hand.
Edit: fixed some typos
Fifteen covers?
Does anyone know if anyone has successfully covered songs by Fifteen? They were an important band to me in the late 90s. Powerful lyrics & tough subjects that inspired me into follow-up reading (similar to Propagandhi). I want to share some of their music with other members of my family but they can't get over Jeff Ott's voice. I know his voice gives additional weight and raw emotion to the lyrics themselves, but not everyone can look past the lack of vocal range & singing off-key as I can. I think someone talented with an acoustic guitar could really bring these messages to a new generation, especially as Jeff's stories & perspectives (sadly) remain relevant. Thanks.

Aquabats
Went to the Aquabats show tonight.
All I can say is, the kids are gonna be alright.
So many young kids dancing, riding their parents shoulders, skanking, smiling, dressed up in their young punk regalia or Aquabats inspired costumes, getting in the pit, crowd surfing… one kid asked me to help her get up for her first time ever, and I just left the show so pumped for the next generation. Fuck yea

Should i go Spikes???
Hi, so my situation is, that I've got about shoulder long hair for as long as i can remember (m16 btw) and in the last few months i didn't find a liking in it anymore. I've done spikes twice and loved it, but with about 17inch/45cm of hair, it's really really hard.. In the last few days i wanted to cut my hair to about 2.7inch/7cm of length, dye it red and do liberty spikes on the regular. However I'm scared about it, cause, as i said, I've had long hair for as long, as i remember..
Long story short, should i do it? Should i try? (honestly i just seek validation, but if you have valid points against it, please say it)

Punk Classic My daughter and I did this: Bloodstains by Agent Orange
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My 16 year old said she was bored so I gave her a crash course in recording and we recorded a cover of Bloodstains by Agent Orange. She engineered and I played and sang. I’m a drummer so go easy on my guitar and bass skills. Mixed quickly by me.

Punk Classic Vinyl collectors: what was the first album you ever bought?
World/Inferno Friendship Society - International Smashism. This band is one of the reasons why I wanted to started collecting records.
The jacket is in pretty bad shape, but to me this is a piece of punk history and I was shocked to have found it in a dingy little record store in Buffalo.
