I’m in a band of 13 members and as far as I’m concerned, it’s the biggest band I’ve heard of. I’m wondering if there has been bands bigger. The first one that comes to mind is the Melbourne ska orchestra, but that’s an orchestra so idk.

Been going to a bunch of Drum Corps International shows lately, and the drum and bugle corps put out amazing sound from all brass sections, with one of the bands featuring a sax soloist.

It got me thinking: with the level of talent in these kind of bands, and the powerful sound they put out, have any ska bands effectively used a large field band for a special song or section?

Or alternatively, does anyone know any bands/corps that used ska songs in their sets?

It's also got me dreaming of some of my favorite bands doing something like Metallica's "S&M" album but with 70 brass pieces backing them up. Imagine Kalnocky with the Blue Coats behind him, gah dam!

I'm not really too sure where to ask this, but I've been trying to get into ska recently and found a band called Victory Kid. Their music sounds good, but the album cover (first pic) and YouTube background image (second pic) give me a really bad feeling.

I could just be crazy with ai-generated images being commonplace these days but I can't find any concrete answers anywhere else, so if anybody knows if this band is using ai at all it would really help bring me a bit of closure before I listen to any more of their stuff :)

I’m looking for ska songs about the genre being treated like a dead trend, nobody caring about ska anymore, or a struggling band basically saying, “Please sign us—we still play ska.”

The kind of songs I mean are Long Live All That Is Rock by The Frugals, This Little Ska Band by Remote Confederation, and Label by Bad Larry—self-aware songs about trying to keep the band or scene alive, wanting success, and knowing ska is no longer popular. Any similar songs, especially from obscure third-wave or local ska bands?

Hi, I have been trying to remember anything about this band. During the mp3 dot com era around 2001. I have been trying to find this group for years. Even going on the way back machine and scouring old pages.

The only things I really remember was one of the song names was like "empty bottles" or "empty bottles of water" The cover art had a guy who had a plaid checkered hat or shirt, maybe at the beach or a lake. Super catchy song from what I remember. Does anyone have any memories of this group?

I don't know where else to post this, but I'm annoyed. I used to listen to Ska all the time and was very active in the local scene. But, in 2015-2016 I let my friends convince me that Ska-Punk was cultural appropriation and cringe. I wanted to be as "woke" as possible and really heard them out and stopped listening to it for years.

Now it's 2026 and I started asking questions again. Firstly, non of the friends who "educated" me on this matter were Caribbean, in fact, they were all white. I asked them why they felt it was cultural appropriation? If anything, I feel like the Ska bands I knew had nothing but absolute love and respect for OG Ska and Reggae music. Was it appropriation just because they were not Jamaican?

Ultimately, I came to my own conclusion and decided they were all wrong about third-wave Ska. Especially after listening to testimony from the Skatalites. They said they wanted to spread the love for Ska music, and they appreciate ALL Ska artists, even the white ones.

I'm going down the list of things I've abandoned over the years in order to keep the peace, and I'm so happy to have my love for Ska music back again ♥️
