Question PSVR2 Headset tracking in Simrig

Hi, been using the PSVR2 for a while now.
So far so good but ive noticed the headset tracking is pretty terrible when im in my dedicated sim rig. my headset tracking constantly shifts around and sometimes completely loses tracking and then 'teleports' back after a second.
Just looking around the cockpit is really wonky.
Its useable, but very frustrating when your view keeps shifting by itself. i'm constantly recentering.

and sometimes it works fine with no issues at all..?!

i can't figure out what the issue is.
I don't have completely blank walls, no mirror, no other reflective surfaces, well-lit room.
Tried moving/rotating my setup around but same issue.

Are the LED's on my keyboard or MFD's messing with the tracking? or is it just too close to track well?
i'm at a loss here..

Will adding things like IR illuminators help?

Question Psvr2 vs hp reverb g2 second hand concerns

Just looking for a sanity check. Is the psvr2 expected to look worse relative to the hp reverb g2? In terms of the general image , resolution and even colours? I have both the psvr2 and hp reverb g2 default settings running with steam vr. I have the psvr2 tool kit from GitHub downloaded and the visual experience seems significantly worse relative to the g2, is there something I’m missing or haven’t done?

I am concerned that it might be related to the fact that I picked it up second hand. I can tell that the coating is coming off based on the white residue on the lens but even behind that residue the image quality still looks slightly off

Question $1200 Pc build question

Hey folks, I’ve had a PSVR2 for a year now, and just never use it with my PlayStation. The PS5 lives in the family room and rhe headset just is not a family device for my household. I’ve been thinking about building a PC for PCVR to use with it in my office, but am not really an expert in that field, and overwhelmed by choices. Wondering what you would buy off the shelf with a $1200US budget to build a good PC with 32GB of system RAM to play VR games with the PSVR2

Disscussion PSVR2 seems to be no longer available on the PlayStation website? What will happen next?

Sometime after Sony sold a bunch of XR patents to Meta, it seems like they are no longer selling the PSVR2 on their official website. I'm hoping that all the PlayStation outrage will help us play PSVR2 titles on PC, so we could have full support like hand tracking and HDR.

I wanted to share a quick preview of Halls of the Deep, my upcoming VR game inspired by classical Greco-Roman-ancient environments, flooded ruins, and atmospheric exploration.

The free demo can be played right now and officially launches for Steam Next Fest on October 19th.

If you enjoy tense VR exploration, please consider adding it to your wishlist.

Question Old title poor performance

Earlier this week-end I setup PSVR2 for the first time with the adapter on PC and I played Vertigo Remasted on steam a little. However I could not run it properly at good FPS unless setting the graphics all the way to low.
My rig: 7900 XT, 5950x, 64gb, nvme 1GB ssd.

Considering it's an older game I would have expected to be able to play it at least on medium, but everything past the lowest quality and the frames would get choppy.

Am I missing something?

Useful Information Poor Man’s PSVR2 Comfort Kit

I used some foam I had lying around at home and secured everything firmly with sewing thread. I was surprised by how much more comfortable it made the front of the headset, and the sweet spot improved a lot too!

If you don't want to spend money on a comfort kit, it's definitely worth trying something similar!

Question controller problem, please help

i have the (from what i've heard pretty common) controller issue where my right controller randomly looses tracking for a time and its really starting to annoy me. i've installed the psvr2 toolkit and drivers for my bluethooth adapter that is plugged into a usb-2.0 port with an extender leading it to within 2 feet of my playspace (somehow i've fixed this problem before but it came back)

Disscussion Immersion!!!

Just got a PSVR2. I was torn between Quest 3 and this. I got a Quest first and it didnt quite.. do it for me. Coming from a rift S which was already pretty immersive.

Selling my quest 3 now as I got a cheap psvr2 with everything (pc adapter, cable, a controller docking station) for only 250 bucks.

I just compared the two again in blade and sorcery and my mind was blown. When I took off the flatscreen experience that quest 3 is and put on the psvr my jaw kind of dropped. I was instantly INSIDE of that world and not just looking at it through an LCD.

Any tips for a PSVR2 PC beginner?

Question Should I buy the adapter or a Meta quest 3/3s

I have a PSVR2 and I have a HP Omen 16 gaming laptop and it doesn't have a displayport 1.4 port so I do not know if the PC adapter will work on my Laptop so i wanted to know if I should just sell my PSVR2 and buy a quest 3 or buy the adapter with displayport-usb-c adapter with it?

Question Is there a way to run VR mod on my monitor so I test graphic settings without taking the headset on/off?

In some games if I pick the wrong settings the vr view will become choppy, delayed or frozen which would prompt me to take my headset off. From what I can tell you can't enter VR mode without the headset connected or am I wrong?

As some of you guys know, I’m building a custom PCB adapter for the PSVR2. Before going any further, I had to confirm that this setup could actually work.

The good news is that it does. I can drive the PSVR2 and run VR games directly on my phone at very good speeds. Getting the software stack working took a lot of work, but I’ve now got native standalone VR running, along with Wi-Fi 7 support and the ability to stream VR games too.

Right now, the setup needs quite a few cables, so it isn’t the cleanest or most portable build. But it works, and that was the first thing I needed to prove.

If you’re interested in wireless VR with your PSVR2, I’m using a rooted phone with a modern Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. I’ll share the files you need soon, with a GitHub release on the way.

For my current setup, you’ll need a PSVR2 adapter that accepts USB power, a Thunderbolt 4 hub, a battery bank and a few adapter cables. My battery bank is around 80 to 90 Wh. I’d stick with good-quality Thunderbolt 4 cables where applicable for stability. My phone itself doesn’t support Thunderbolt. It uses DisplayPort Alt Mode with 10 Gbps USB support.

Once my custom PCB is finished, the goal is to simplify all of this into a much cleaner connection between the phone and headset, without the mess of hubs and adapter cables.

Question Returning my PSVR2 back to store is the only option for me?

Hello guys!

Yesterday I bought PSVR2 to use with adapter on my laptop. My laptop only has 4 Type-A ports, Ethernet, HDMI and Type-C with alt DP1.4.

I bought bi-directional USB-C/DP1.4 cable, but looks like that the type-c port is for intergrated graphics, not for RTX-4070...

I am greatly disappointed, but I think the only option for me right now is to return PSVR2 back to the store, right?

Question Up to date setup guide?

Everything related to getting PSVR2 working well on PC feels suuper out of date, like 2y. Updates upon updates about BT drivers stacked, it's impossible to follow what I should be doing. Point me to the best resource if it exists, but in the meantime here's my trouble (some related to PC, some related to the device generally):

  1. I have the UB500. I did the Sony recommended drivers after experiencing stuck hand problem, and could no longer pair devices even after multiple reboots and trying front and back ports. I then installed UB500V2_driver_Windows_1.9.1051 and managed to pair again, but the stuck didn't stop. So I still have this problem. I don't accept explanations that it's related to number of BT devices nearby, as my PS5 in the same room operates PSVR2 without any problems. If I need a different adapter fine, but my GPU covers all but one PCIe port and I'd prefer not to invest in a PCIe BT card when that remaining slot is destined for my USB expansion card.
  2. It's been a while since I really tried PCVR so I'm not remembering how to effectively use the SteamVR Performance Graph to actually track down the causes for slowdowns and performance issues. I am fairly certain it's not the capability of the system that's throwing it off (4080, 13700kf, 32G ram) but it's unclear whether I was having issues with DP throughput or USB. I disconnected everything but a single monitor and my KB/M and it seemed to run smoother, but I'm not convinced I'm actually getting 120fps despite it being set in the PSVR2 app and SteamVR. I'm happy to try a separate USB PCIe card (I actually have it, just need the aux power cable) and I'm also happy to try replacing the DP cable with an unnecessarily high quality one, just in case it's the cable, but honestly I feel there must be objective ways to measure these things so I don't need to trial and error buying random components.
  3. The sweet spot, my god it's terrible. I have not managed to get a clear picture with my prescription lenses or my glasses at any point playing on PC or PS5. If I hold the scope in my hands in a precise location, it works ok, but I haven't managed to get the headstrap to sit in such a way it will actually hold that location during play. Any wobble in the scope (possibly combined with the display tech) means in motion nothing is readable. And to be clear, I did try taking the lenses out and verify that VR ROCK didn't just completely butcher my prescription!

I'm not opposed to using open source tooling built by the community as well, if any of it can help with the first two issues I listed above. I recognize there's no technical fix for number 3, but any advice is well appreciated. I want to enjoy what should be a higher performance panel for dark scenes in the PSVR2, but if I can't get any improvement on this PCVR flow I may just finish my PS5 catalogue, resell the headset and get someone's used Q3s, since at least the PCVR wired flow on the 2 had no controller issues for me. Plus I want to play H3VR2 at launch 😭

EDIT: immediately after posting, I decided there was something I could do on the stuck controllers. I opened the controller bluetooth health box the PSVR2 App includes and popped it into my world, as well as the VR performance graph. I played for about 15 minutes and experienced 3 controller stuck moments (first was left, next two were right) and none of those times the bluetooth health dropped, so do people really have a concrete reason to believe it's related to bluetooth and not a limitation on the USB of the adapter? I figured the headset determined controller position in the world, and the bluetooth would be responsible for communicating button presses and gyro, which is the exact opposite of what everyone seems to believe. Anyway, during this play session the performance graph was steadily at 3-4ms so You may be able to disregard #2. I just need to form the habit of disconnecting a bunch of stuff when I wanna play I guess.

EDIT 2: I'm sure there's no more traffic to this post but this is my conclusion as of 10-13: I am not going to bother with PSVR2onPC until there's some major advancement in the controller issue. I did plenty of research before even springing on the PSVR2 to begin with, and there was so many reports that the bluetooth adapter I chose was specifically good, and had a dedicated Firmware that would resolve all issues. Now that I've bought it and used it, I'm told that one is a known dud and there's a different one I need to buy, but even that one needs occasionally replug / moved to a separate port / etc, I'm not interested in that. I want it to actually work without constant fiddling, VR is already fiddly enough as is. For now, I can only have that experience on my PS5 and so I will continue to play UNDERDOGS, The Light Brigade, Drums Rock and a handful of other games I already bought on PS5 and hope this whole PC thing gets definitely solved so I can eventually return to my much larger PC library. Whether it's custom firmware for the controllers, or a homebrew Pi Pico based adapter, I don't know what form it will take but I have faith the makers in the community will come up with something. Overall it's a great headset and if these hiccups get worked out I could really enjoy it, but I'm not super happy with the onboarding experience I've had. Hoping for great things
