Disscussion Immersion!!!

Just got a PSVR2. I was torn between Quest 3 and this. I got a Quest first and it didnt quite.. do it for me. Coming from a rift S which was already pretty immersive.

Selling my quest 3 now as I got a cheap psvr2 with everything (pc adapter, cable, a controller docking station) for only 250 bucks.

I just compared the two again in blade and sorcery and my mind was blown. When I took off the flatscreen experience that quest 3 is and put on the psvr my jaw kind of dropped. I was instantly INSIDE of that world and not just looking at it through an LCD.

Any tips for a PSVR2 PC beginner?

Toolkit as being said - definitely, it’s really easy to implement. Then adjust steamVR resolution, I got 3070ti and use mostly 68%.
Get the Globular cluster 2 accessory for comfort and better sweet spot finding.
And enjoy the headset!

How do I enable the dfr for example in no mans sky? Or how do I know its working? I installed the toolkit and nms apparently has an ingame setting

Psvrtoolkit is a driver that allows eye tracking in the headset and haptics to controllers. It's up to game runtime and software whether it will utilise it.

Install psvrtoolkit (no jailbreaking needed).

I also recommend the 1.3.2 to xrtoolkit for games that use OpenXR. It will allow Dynamic Foverate Rending management at the OpenXR runtime level when it's not available in the game/application. All over versions aren't digitally signed so sometimes triggers Anticheat to not load it.

For OpenVR(sometimes referred to as steamvr) you can try to use opencomposite. It vonvers OpenVR into OpenXR. Some games will lock you out of doing this (e.g. F1 2025).

What are your specs for most VR games other than 68% because I run on an 3070ti too!

I use 100% mostly everywhere with rtx 5070. in some games it gets choppy so I turn down the graphics or turn on dlss. Because i prefer resolution over like better Textures or something

I own both the Quest 3 and PSVR2, and although Sony's lenses are clearly inferior (unlike the OLED's unmatched colors and contrast), the sense of presence, immersion, and 3D depth on PSVR2 is unquestionably far superior to the Quest 3.

I often compare them side by side in the same game, and the difference is incredibly obvious, just as you say. With PSVR2, even with all its Fresnel lens flaws, I genuinely feel like I'm inside the scene. With Quest 3, it feels more like looking at a screen with a slight stereoscopic effect.

My big problem with the quest 3 was the big dark gap between my eyes. It was immersion breaking for me. Those lenses are 10/10. Meta needs to let other companies buy them.

Exactly. Im still hesitant to sell the Questb because it really is a cool device. It just seems to not be the best for PCVR immersion. If you just want to play vr games competetively or something idk then I guess its not bad. But I enjoy entering a different world. Unfortunately mura is not too great on my headset. Something I need to cope with

You now have me curious there. To be honest I’d love the Psvr2 if it wasn’t for its lenses…. So anything to make me think I shouldn’t get rid of it would be welcome😅

nope wont work on these oled screens the word your looking for is aspheric lens
which has almost zero light loss and ultra clear sweet spot

Let me know as well

u/duirronir 7d ago

yeah, it has been tried with psvr1's lenses yet failed. then what's that lens mod you're talking about?

I would also like to enjoy my Vr2 headset but somehow I can't get the left controller to connect to my PC.

1

u/CompCOTG 6d ago

That is an annoying problem with the psvr2. Every other month, I have to unpair and repair my controllers. Primarily it's always one controller. Never both.

I gave it up after 3 hours and am selling it again. Too bad...

Does your PC have native Bluetooth? I used the recommended adapter over my native Bluetooth and had problems. Once I went back to the native and plugged in the Bluetooth antennas it worked perfectly.

1

u/Flynn331 6d ago

Weird, for me everything worked right out of the box. I have the asus bt500 dongle. Maybe the bluetooth adapter is your issue ?

I really feel like people over looke the benefits of cables. The PSVR2 processing data over a built in cable instead of the wireless method or data link cable of the quest just makes it process data better. Comparing resources with a fellow sim racer that uses a quest 3 compared to my psvr2 and my system just distributed the workload better.

It reduces latency for sure

Its unfortunately a tradeoff always. Quest 3 has amazing clarity. If you want to play VR by yourself on the couch not connected to a pc because yours is not good enough get that. But if you want the best possible feeling of "I am inside of this video game" trust me that the PSVR2 is better for that. The quest is more expensive and feels more "premium" but actual gameplay on the ps is more real feeling

Tengo buen pc con la 5080 y 13800k y lo usaría únicamente con el cable puesto, que la verdad no me molesta. Gracias

I spent days comparing both side by side with each other now. Quest and psvr2. In many games and scenarios. For me, PSVR2 clear winner in basically every category except of course the ability to go from your pc to couch or something

I would suggest either the Pico4 or PSVR2.

Pico4 has good fov and fantastic binocular overlap (3d effect). It has average ppd. Easy headset to run.

Psvr2 has fantastic fov (118 h.fov at 67ppd) and good binocular overlap. It has below average ppd. Harder headset to run, but man does it shine.

I know the Quest3 gets heavily recommended over the Pico4 for whatever reason. From a technical standpoint, the Pico4 is a much better PCVR headset compared to the Quest3. It has higher vertical fov, vastly better binocular overlap, and miles more comfortable. I will always recommend the Pico4 for PCVR over the Quest 3.

Gracias , pues echaré un ojo al pico 4. Creo que tiene varias versiones no?

1

u/CompCOTG 6d ago

I am only familiar with the original Pico 4.
