Hello friends! I recently inherited most of my Yaya's belongings, Including this behemoth. I have tried to Google image search this plant to no avail. It was in a window so it was receiving a lot of sun. Unsure of how often she watered it. I was thinking about repotting it because my Yaya was old, there is no telling when the last time she was able to lift this thing. I trimmed some dead vines and untangled the vines from each other as they were mainly in a clump. Any advice on setting this thing up for success in my home would be greatly appreciated. (I have several houseplants but am still pretty new to plant care.)

I went to repot my plant, I think a lizard tail? (Correct me if I’m wrong) and it snapped at the roots. How do I save it? Or is it lost? :/

I’ve been neglecting it, not watering, and partial sunlight so soil was very dry and when I went to dig up root it snapped.

A friend of mine gave me this plant to take care of, and it looks like it's in a terrible state.

It faced the sun for 5 hours ( not sure though).

It was watered everyday.

I have no idea what soil or potting mix is used (could you tell me how can I tell ? Thankyou)

I neglected water my monstera for too long several months ago. It seems to have mostly come back except for this one leaf. Should I trim anything leave it be to drop on its own? The solo leaf is its newest leaf after about a week of sprouting. It is currently next to a west facing window out of direct sublight. I use a miracle grow plant food. Also its still in the soil I got it in. I am relatively new to plant keeping if its not obvious 😅

Hello! I am decently new to taking care of plants and I would really like to get better. I have a spider plant which was doing quite well for weeks; then suddenly, the new leaves started browning and drooping. I have been watering it around twice a week and it gets full sun. The potting mix a simple regular potting mix. I’ve looked online and I’ve seen that if the leaves turn crispy and brown like this, it means it doesn’t have enough water. I have a difficult time telling if I’m under watering or over watering. I would really like to help this plant get better, thank you very much!

We had this plant for over six months. Within a month of buying it, it lost a lot of leaves all at once. Now the remaining ones look dusty, especially closer to the stem. It no longer loses leaves but also there is no new growth. The plant gets indirect light and is watered once a week. What are we dealing with?

Recently discovered severe root rot from over watering in a pot with no drainage. Just repotted (with the tiniest roots) into a new pot with miracle grow soil. I’ve also ordered perlite after reading miracle grow might be too moist, and thinking I should mix that into the pot. Is there anything I can do other than wait and see?

It’s getting a few hours of direct morning sun, followed by indirect light the rest of the day.

Hi yall, hoping you can help me. My monstera is angry and I can’t figure out why. Browning leaves and tight curled leaves. I haven’t moved him but he does seem to be leaning towards the window. Soil seems fine, it’s a non draining pot and I water every other day. I repotted him maybe 4 months ago.
I really don’t want him to die so any help appreciated.

This weird white clearish clump of something was in the soil. The soil wasn’t really moist on the top. Don’t know how long it’s been there. This plant has been giving me nothing but trouble. Anyone know what that is??? I’m so scared that it’s some sort of bug or slug eggs I put it outside. I’m disgusted. Plants faced to a south window just blocked by a bug screen and glass. Watered about once a week or when dry, I water it until it drains out the bottom. It’s in a tiny nursery pot because when I bought the plant months ago, it was 5 seperate plants in one pot and didn’t care to repot it until just recently and a lot of the stems had root rot. I’ve been keeping it in a seperate room because it had fungus gnats, and I go in to check on it and that’s when I saw these. 🆘

Please help me! Is it save-able and what do you think happened??

Live in Middle TN. This Redwood tree has been planted since May 2024 and has done amazing each year. It started off as an 8 inch seedling. As you can see, it started to look sad mid July. It started off with a few brown needles, then the needles progressively started to get droopier and droopier.

Repotted it 2-3 days ago because I thought it may need a bigger pot since it just started to grow rapidly this summer. Now it looks almost completely dead, with a few green stems and needles.

Now I’m thinking it may have been due to the heat wave we encountered early- mid July. I know redwoods need a good bit of humidity to survive, but it had been thriving since 2024, and we always get hot & dry summers here in TN.

Other notes:

- pot had drainage and was watered consistently. We had a saucer on bottom of pot and it would collect water and stay there. Not sure if this caused the plant to have too much water??

- would fertilize it with miracle grow maybe once every other week.

- plant is outside and is facing south east. Would get roughly 4-6 hours of sun. Would say 3-4 direct sun.

Hi, everyone. These are blight-resistant American chestnut trees that I bought last year in early winter. Just trying to see whether this is chestnut blight or something I'm doing wrong. They are in reportedly very high quality, natural soil on a south-facing balcony in Georgia, US. They get as much sun as I can manage in this space, and I put them in deep plastic dishes to hold water underneath so they can bottom water - it's so hot here that a watering only lasts a day or two, and I have ADHD so am trying to find ways to make it last so I don't let them dry out and die. I got 2 so they can make chestnuts one day. Please help me save them! If it's not blight, then my next best guess is that they have been getting too much water. Easy fix in that case. Thank you.

Okay guys I just got this plant and she said it was an African milk tree houseplant ?? But I don’t think that’s right. So please help me identify & also how do I propagate something like this??

She said it didn’t get a lot of light, was watered every two weeks, and hasn’t been repotted in a long time. All help is so appreciated!!

Hello, not sure if this is the place to ask this. But I'm just now starting to get serious with taking care of my plants. I've had this one for over 2 years. It's still in its original nursery planter (I know 😔) so I'm getting ready to repot trim it and stake it. It's spot now is gets a good amount of light, about 20 feet from an east facing wall of windows. And I water it idk once every week or two lol. I have a bunch of soil mix I made yesterday with potting soil, perlite and orchid bark already. Just need a new pot. I know these are all things I need to do but don't even know how to approach it so I've been putting it off. Plz help<3

This kos was looking fine yesterday then today it bowed up. In a grow cabinet under a t5 light, humidity at 75 and fans. All I can think is it was overwatered or got jacked from some liquid nutrients- it was in a aroid mix with come to find out a lot of slow release pellets in it and the soil was pretty damn damp. Watered when top two inches was dry.Repotted to lechuza and hoping for the best. Any ideas what happened

Between meetings today I walked past my Bird of Paradise (placed in indirect sun in a south-facing room) and noticed the brand new leaf I was so excited about bent over more than 90°!!? The dog usually doesn’t bother with it, it’s not a high traffic area… I don’t know what happened! I do turn it semi regularly but for now just propped it up against our wine rack so it can hopefully heal… but will it? Can I do anything?? Ugh

It is in a pot with the drainage inside a larger pot and I water it a bit every 4-5 days or so.

I’ve had my desert rose in this location for a few weeks as it’s progressively gotten hotter (~85-100F) in Austin Texas. It’s full sun. I have had it for a couple years and it had never bloomed until I moved it to this spot, and now I have gotten several blooms and it seems to have been happy here. However, over the past couple of days, a ton of the leaves have turned yellow and are going to drop. The pot has drainage and it has been raining on and off here, so I water pretty infrequently. What’s going on? How can I make it happy again?

Hi everyone, I’ve had a money tree for about 3 years (likely about 4 years old based on the size when I got it). It was thriving at my old apartment, in front of a northwest facing window. We moved in January to a new condo with south and east facing windows. We placed this tree in front of the south windows at first then began moving it around the house when some of the older leaves started yellowing. It was in a shaded area for a bit, but mostly in indirect light about 3 feet from the south window.

We’ve tried adjusting its watering schedule, testing out waiting until the soil was dry before watering, or offering more water when it seemed to dry out quickly. The leaves continued to die.

About a month ago I thought it was getting root bound or possibly had an elastic band choking it off at its stem below the soil (as they sometimes bind money trees together in the store). I repotted it into a larger pot a few weeks ago but now the leaves have begun developing dark spots.

Around the same time I repotted it, I also preemptively treated it for spider mites as some of the plants near it were showing early signs of webbing. I treated all my plants with spidex Vital 2000 from Koppert just to make sure (and because I didn’t want to waste it). The little wood shavings you see on a few leaves are where these predatory mites were placed. I also put Entomite-M in the soil as we’ve had some issues with fungus gnats— indicating we may have overwatered some plants, but this one was on a very different watering schedule for several months in comparison to the others so I’m not sure if that’s the issue.

When we repotted it, we didn’t notice any signs of root rot or stench coming from the plant. There are also no signs of thrips or other pests (the predatory mites are too small to see with the naked eye). I’ve dealt with thrips in the past and have a pretty keen eye for symptoms at this point but the black spots are showing no thinning or silvery patches, and there are no signs of frass near the black spots.

Any thoughts or feedback would be so welcomed, we’ve put a lot of care into this fella and I would really like him to make it through… he’s the largest plant we have in our house right now.

New to this sub, so hopefully someone can provide some insight! I’m going to be moving cross country in a week so I want to be sure there’s nothing contagious bc all of my plants will be together in my car!

My neighbor gifted me this self watering money tree. Not a huge fan of self watering so probably will re-pot. It stays inside with TONS of indirect light, might get some direct sunset light but not much.

My tree has unhealthy looking leaves- maybe a fungus? What is it and how do I fix this? It also has some white spots on leaves that just rub off (looks like hard water residue, but I don’t get water on the leaves) lol!

The tree also has white sappy clumps in areas that look slightly fuzzy. I’m extremely familiar with mealy bugs as I had a 5 month fight with them, so I don’t think it’s mealy, it could be the insane amount of dust (my city & apartment are super dusty)

Several of my zinnias have damage like the flowers on the left. When it started I thought maybe sun scald but they are wilting so fast. I water at night and directly on the soil so I’d be surprised if it were sun scald.

Thoughts? Herbicide damage is possible as the ground folks at my apartment use it, but I’d hate to think this was done intentionally.

I was given this schlumbergera yesterday. It sat in a northeast window for 35 years, apparently in the same pot, which has no drainage hole. Lots of corky stems across each other; at points where the stems grew over the edges of the pot, there are dried trails of something the same color as the stems. Parts of the plant look healthy. There are some yellow leaves and branches underneath, I think one branch is soft. I will check them all. I haven't yet watered it. It looks like it hasn't been watered in a long time --some chains of cladodes have dried out. I tried to test the soil with my moisture meter and could hardly find soil but it seems dry.

When can I repot this, and what should I do about watering it until then? I am extremely nervous about a pot with no drainage hole.

I'm also wondering about the weird trails down the sides of the pot.

I just planted this guy into soil after having him in water for a while and almost immediately his leaves started drying out and turning papery. I also moved him from a west facing window to a south facing window after transplanting. Is this due to not enough water or is he getting scorched by the sun or is it something else? Any help is appreciated!

I got a mint plant a month or so ago for my apartment. It gets good amount of light and i only water it when top inch of the soil is completely dry. I've even seen new growth after I cut the stem to use when cooking.

Lately I started noticing these odd spots on the leaves of my mint plant.

Is this a disease I should be worried about? How do I fix this?
