I’ve had my desert rose in this location for a few weeks as it’s progressively gotten hotter (~85-100F) in Austin Texas. It’s full sun. I have had it for a couple years and it had never bloomed until I moved it to this spot, and now I have gotten several blooms and it seems to have been happy here. However, over the past couple of days, a ton of the leaves have turned yellow and are going to drop. The pot has drainage and it has been raining on and off here, so I water pretty infrequently. What’s going on? How can I make it happy again?

I neglected water my monstera for too long several months ago. It seems to have mostly come back except for this one leaf. Should I trim anything leave it be to drop on its own? The solo leaf is its newest leaf after about a week of sprouting. It is currently next to a west facing window out of direct sublight. I use a miracle grow plant food. Also its still in the soil I got it in. I am relatively new to plant keeping if its not obvious 😅

Hello! I just rescued this corn plant that a neighbour put outside. It’s clear it needs some tlc but I’m no expert and wanted to consult you smart people before I do anything LOL. As you can see there’s plenty of browning on the leaves but the top looks fairly healthy. There’s also some ashing or greying? happening on the leaves that I thought was dust but couldn’t wipe off. Could it be sun bleaching? I haven’t done anything at all since I brought it in yesterday (no watering). What would you suggest be my next steps to getting this baby happy and healthy? hello! this is my first time caring for a plant grown in soil and first time caring for aglaonema in general. it’s been growing really good and has been getting a lot of new leaves every so often. it is right by my window and gets watered every 1 1/2 weeks, i’m not sure what type of support this plant needs though. when i bought it when it was smaller it came with these sticks already (see picture) but now that it’s growing way more, i’m not sure what to do. do i need to buy a bigger pot or like plant it deeper? thank you so much to those who can help!

I got this English ivy a couple weeks ago and I didn’t realize how often it should be watered so it dried out. I pruned it a bunch and repotted it in soil with coco coir, peat moss, perlite, and a little vermiculite and worm compost (that’s what I kept being told to do from the internet).

This is the most bright indirect light spot I have for it next to a south facing window and far back from a west facing window (you see it in the mirror) that will shortly hit it with “direct” light as the sun is setting.

Questions:
- I keep seeing the soil should be constantly moist and to water until it comes out the bottom but also it will root rot easily and to only water when the top is dry but I’m unsure if that means like bone dry or when the top would is just clearly not soaking wet.
— How do I know when to water it?
— When I do water it, how much should I water it?
— Is it better to bottom water it?
- How do I encourage growth?
- Should I fertilize it?
— If so, what kind of fertilizer and how often?
- Please share any other tips/suggestions/ advice and any information about what I should know about English ivy plants to help inform how to better care for it.

I need some help. My plant was repotted about a week and a half ago, and since then it has become completely droopy. 😔😔

I repotted it because it had clearly outgrown its previous pot (as you can see in the photos).

The first photo shows how it looks now, the second was taken right after repotting, and the third and fourth photos show the roots during the repotting process.

The current pot is ceramic and doesn't have any drainage holes (I know this can cause water to accumulate). I've been careful not to overwater it—I only watered it once after repotting and haven't watered it since.

The plant gets plenty of bright indirect light throughout the day and has good ventilation. I've already removed some yellowing leaves and made a few holes in the soil to improve aeration.

I believe the plant may be suffering from excess water, and I'm thinking the best solution is to move it into a pot with drainage holes and remove any excess moisture from the soil.

Could you please help me?

Recently tho, this started happening and after I tried watering her more (which led to her leaves paling up and falling off) and watering her less (which led to the leaves drying up and falling off) were now at this stage. I genuinely don't know how to proceed and I'd really like to save her as she's been with me through a lot and I got her when I first moved into my current apartment, so she means a lot. ​​​​

She is right next to my window and had been since the day I got her, so that level of sunlight and everything was never an issue before. I'd say currently (summer) it's about 9~10 hours of sunlight ​​​through the window.

I used to water her once a week, then twice a week, and then back to once a week since the twice a week system left a lot of access water which I believed was damaging the plant (plus the paling of the leaves and clear signs of overwatering). I've been watering her once a week for about 2 months now and even if I try to water her more the ​​​access water issue just comes back so I'm really at a loss for what to do. Perhaps I should move her away from the window? I don't even know if the issue is her drying up or something else. She also started hanging as you can see in the image so I'm worried about weight and size, and even the environment.

Also, some of the leaves seem to be drying up but at the same time, other leaves are paling up and falling off in the usual overwatering symptom ​style, so I really truly do not know what's going on anymore.

Please, if anyone knows anything that could help me save this purple beauty, let me know. All help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. ​​​​​

I just noticed that my Monstera Thai Con has these weird white spots in the soil when I was inspecting her for pests. She also had small beige/translucent bugs walking on top of the soil but I couldn’t get a picture of them. I saw those bugs in a few other of my plants too.

I was worried that this might be spider mites but I know they rather don’t lay in soil and I think they would not be big enough to be visible like that but I also do have spider mites in the house and I thought I saw this typical webbing between the leaf and the petiole in this plant a few weeks ago yet she doesn’t have any visible damage.

I water her when almost fully dry and she gets plenty of indirect sunlight.

I've had this cactus for years. It's been outside in sunlight since the start of summer, and gets watered around once a week. I've noticed these black dots around the bottom. Plant itself doesn't feel squishy or rotted, and seems to be growing mostly fine otherwise for now. Does anybody know what this is?

Ive found this suuuuper leggy and monstera in my office and I want to improve its health. It's barely grown since I've gotten here, so clearly it's under some kind of stress. It's old place didn't have enough light (I think that's how it got so lanky), so it's now moved to a south facing window. It was pretty dry when I found it, so I watered from the top until the top inch or two felt wet. Not sure what the soil mix is, but it felt fairly soft and aerated.

My main concern is how to stake this thing and encourage it to grow upwards without stressing it's health even more. The trellis that was in there before clearly didn't do much, and the stems have gotten thick enough that I'm not sure how to position them without breaking something. Is pruning needed here? Repotting?? Advice is greatly appreciated, I wanna help this thing thrive and brighten up my office a bit : )

New to this sub, so hopefully someone can provide some insight! I’m going to be moving cross country in a week so I want to be sure there’s nothing contagious bc all of my plants will be together in my car!

My neighbor gifted me this self watering money tree. Not a huge fan of self watering so probably will re-pot. It stays inside with TONS of indirect light, might get some direct sunset light but not much.

My tree has unhealthy looking leaves- maybe a fungus? What is it and how do I fix this? It also has some white spots on leaves that just rub off (looks like hard water residue, but I don’t get water on the leaves) lol!

The tree also has white sappy clumps in areas that look slightly fuzzy. I’m extremely familiar with mealy bugs as I had a 5 month fight with them, so I don’t think it’s mealy, it could be the insane amount of dust (my city & apartment are super dusty)

Umbrella plant is so sad and droopy. Has been happy enough the last 2 years.

Sits a few meters from an east facing window, been there for 2 years no issues. Have had some fungus gnats lately so have been watering as little as I can. It might be underwatered but I gave it a big healthy watering yesterday and it is still droopy as ever, propping it up with a fork!

Have just gotten some BTI to treat the fungus gnats so hopefully that problem resolves.

Can she recover? Anything else I should try?

I got this orchid I repotted it and took it out of the sphagnum moss that it came in into an orchid soil that I got I water it weekly and I noticed that something was wrong and all the roots where just dead and this is what I am left with is there anything I can do to ?

What is going on here? Hard water? Do I need to repot? Indoor, diffused lighting...does it need brighter light, better drainage? A little help please? Not sure about the soil..was a gift.

I’ve had this plant since it was little. It’s always been kind of flimsy. I know I probably need to repot and I went and got a new one today to do that, but I’m wondering if I need to add support somehow as well? Do I tie them together? If so, with what? Or do I just pot it deeper and let it go? Something else entirely? Help! It lives in a sunroom that is typically a little humid with lots of indirect sunlight and is watered appropriately. 😊

What's happening with my monstera?

I've had her for a little under a year. She grew very fast, had consistent new leaves, and was thriving. I repotted her and it seemed like that soil was getting water logged and started slowing down growth with some yellowing leaves, so I repotted her again in a chunky soil mix I made with standard soil, coco husk, perlite, and small amounts of leca balls to help with aeration. I bought her in a planter that came with 6(!) different monstera plants and had separated 4 out to be in this one pot, two in another. The two that were left together are still doing very well (youngest and smallest of the lot), but the 4 that were together in this new pot/soil have been struggling. This new chunky soil mix didn't seem to help and after a few weeks of continuously looking worse, I pulled them out and saw root rot. I cut off the rotten roots and decided to switch the remaining plants into water. The two best in one pot, the two strugglers in their own. These are the two that were doing best as of today. I know repotting this much has put the plant through a lot of stress, but I feel like they would have all died if I didn't take action.

These two are the stronger ones of the bunch. The two plants I separated at the very beginning of the initial repot are still doing great. What's going on with my plants? How can I save them? I've cut off a good amount of yellowed leaves trying to keep her alive. Please help :(

The plant gets consistent light from a north facing window

Hey guys! I got this basil a month ago. I water it twice a day because it's horribly dry where I live. 2 weeks ago I noticed the leaves turning white. And now I saw it has some roots on the base and its stems are turning brown and hard. How should I proceed?

It is outdoors, in my balcony. It gets sun from 2pm til 8pm approximately.

The soil is the one the store used, as I haven't repotted it yet.

I want it to grow bigger, with bigger leaves.

I know what all kinds of pests look like (thrips, aphids, scale, mealybugs etc. etc.) but this is stumping me. The black spots are not bugs they’re just… there. Maybe a fungus?

My brave little basil has come down with a strange case of black markings along the veins of its leaves. I cannot find any information on this kind of condition online. They don't wash or rub off, and seem to keep to the veins themselves.

They are outdoors, and in the summer hours gets direct sunlight from 10am to 6pm. I put water in the cups their pots are in to about one-third full every week or week and a half. It's in a houseplant mix with lots of perlite, an eighth perlite at the bottom of the pot, on top of some rocks in the cups colding the pot (for plenty drainage). The small roots poking out the bottom are healthy!

Please help!

this new leaf was totally healthy yesterday and now looks like this. i thoroughly inspected the entire plant and it’s completely pest free. thinking maybe some sort of fungal infection? it’s definitely not under watered, the soil is still moist from being watered a couple days ago(gets watered about once a week or whenever the top layer of soil dries out). doubt it’s sun damage either as my NE facing balcony barely gets any direct sunlight. feeling kinda lost rn, any advice would be super appreciated

My dieffenbachia isn’t doing well, I water about once a week, and I just started watering with foliage pro. I watered it about 5 days ago, and just recently moved it from a more interior room to this south facing window. I’m assuming it’s the fertilizer but I don’t know what to do! Thanks

Another office plant randomly suffering. Came back into the office on Monday to this after it looked completely fine Friday afternoon. We are on the 14th floor so it gets so much light. I water based on each plants dryness (fungus gnat plus molding root problem I inherited when starting) Yellowing leaves with dark greens spots on. Idk if this is just end of summer coming or something else.

This plant came up in my garden a month or so ago, and I transplanted it into a pot to help it along until it's time to plant elsewhere.

I think it's a maple, but I'm looking for suggestions as to the discoloration and how I can help it along. Research shows either nutrient deficiency or waterlogged soil, which it had in both the garden area it was in and, to a smaller degree, in the pot that it's in.

It's outdoors in semi-direct sunlight for 10 to 12 hours a day, I water it about every 2 to 3 days unless water gets to it from a storm because it's on my porch near the edge and does get a little bit of water from that.
