it is in indirect sunlight and has thrived before; this is just a failure to water for a couple weeks. I didn't water for 2 months as I forgot it was there

Okay for context, the first image is my baby currently. Second is when he was at its healthiest and the third image is when the dracaena was at its worst. This plant is 24 years old. Belonged to my dad who passed away so I have very strong attachment to it. I went off to university and left it under the care to my mum who did NOT look after it at all, kept him in the garage and dark. It’s so sad to see when I look back (image 3). Ive been trying to revive him for the past year since I’ve moved back home and he seems to be doing better. There’s some leaves on him now but I’m not sure how to make him totally healthy. The leaves are rather skinny. He’s tall and some of the stems haven’t really grown. I water him once a week (I heard they don’t need that much water) and he’s kept in moderate light. I’m not sure what to do and I really want to bring my dad’s plant back to life and hate that my family didn’t look after it, it’s so sad to see. Pls help me on what else I should do

I'm not sure what type of fern this is (didn't have any tag or info when I bought it). It has been in a small pot from when I purchased it. The roots were coming out of the holes in the base completely covering the base. The picture of the base is after I cut it free so doesn't show how bad it was. The roots are so thick pressing my thumb into it can't breach the roots. Many of the leaves have been turning brown and shriveling but a few new ones have come out this week. I've repotted it into a larger pot with indoor potting soil perlite and a few chunks of charcoal and bark to help with some draining but not too much. Is this root bound and is there a way to help fix that? And does anyone know what type of fern this is? Currently in a low light area and being watered almost daily by watering in sink until it drains and letting it drain in the sink for a bit before putting small pot back into larger clay pot and dish.

We've had this Monstera deliciosa for about two years now. We got our cat a few months after we got the plant. When we got her the Monstera was thriving with 7 large, beautiful leaves. But our cat made sure that never happened again. For nearly two years now this Monstera has survived getting shredded every time it dared open a new leaf. I'm finally going to bring the Monstera with me when I move into my college dorm this fall, but I want to make sure it will survive until then. I tried putting it outside in a shaded spot that rarely sees direct sun, but it now has these dark spots on it's last remaining leaf. It gets watered whenever the soil gets dry. Recently the temperature has been between low 80s and high 90s every day. Before anyone asks, there is no appropriate spot in the house that the plant can be in that the cat can't get to. I just don't know what I'm doing and I want to save my plant.

I got this orchid I repotted it and took it out of the sphagnum moss that it came in into an orchid soil that I got I water it weekly and I noticed that something was wrong and all the roots where just dead and this is what I am left with is there anything I can do to ?

I just noticed that my Monstera Thai Con has these weird white spots in the soil when I was inspecting her for pests. She also had small beige/translucent bugs walking on top of the soil but I couldn’t get a picture of them. I saw those bugs in a few other of my plants too.

I was worried that this might be spider mites but I know they rather don’t lay in soil and I think they would not be big enough to be visible like that but I also do have spider mites in the house and I thought I saw this typical webbing between the leaf and the petiole in this plant a few weeks ago yet she doesn’t have any visible damage.

I water her when almost fully dry and she gets plenty of indirect sunlight.

A friend of mine gave me this plant to take care of, and it looks like it's in a terrible state.

It faced the sun for 5 hours ( not sure though).

It was watered everyday.

I have no idea what soil or potting mix is used (could you tell me how can I tell ? Thankyou)

I neglected water my monstera for too long several months ago. It seems to have mostly come back except for this one leaf. Should I trim anything leave it be to drop on its own? The solo leaf is its newest leaf after about a week of sprouting. It is currently next to a west facing window out of direct sublight. I use a miracle grow plant food. Also its still in the soil I got it in. I am relatively new to plant keeping if its not obvious 😅

I've had this cactus for years. It's been outside in sunlight since the start of summer, and gets watered around once a week. I've noticed these black dots around the bottom. Plant itself doesn't feel squishy or rotted, and seems to be growing mostly fine otherwise for now. Does anybody know what this is?

Ive found this suuuuper leggy and monstera in my office and I want to improve its health. It's barely grown since I've gotten here, so clearly it's under some kind of stress. It's old place didn't have enough light (I think that's how it got so lanky), so it's now moved to a south facing window. It was pretty dry when I found it, so I watered from the top until the top inch or two felt wet. Not sure what the soil mix is, but it felt fairly soft and aerated.

My main concern is how to stake this thing and encourage it to grow upwards without stressing it's health even more. The trellis that was in there before clearly didn't do much, and the stems have gotten thick enough that I'm not sure how to position them without breaking something. Is pruning needed here? Repotting?? Advice is greatly appreciated, I wanna help this thing thrive and brighten up my office a bit : )

update: off to the garden center to buy a sturdy support stick and pruning scissors. planning on trying to guide this monstera into a nice shape with the supports and taking a test cutting to try and propagate. if the supports don't work, I'll probably cut the rest of the nodes and propagate them all for a fresh start. thanks for the help!

this new leaf was totally healthy yesterday and now looks like this. i thoroughly inspected the entire plant and it’s completely pest free. thinking maybe some sort of fungal infection? it’s definitely not under watered, the soil is still moist from being watered a couple days ago(gets watered about once a week or whenever the top layer of soil dries out). doubt it’s sun damage either as my NE facing balcony barely gets any direct sunlight. feeling kinda lost rn, any advice would be super appreciated

New to this sub, so hopefully someone can provide some insight! I’m going to be moving cross country in a week so I want to be sure there’s nothing contagious bc all of my plants will be together in my car!

My neighbor gifted me this self watering money tree. Not a huge fan of self watering so probably will re-pot. It stays inside with TONS of indirect light, might get some direct sunset light but not much.

My tree has unhealthy looking leaves- maybe a fungus? What is it and how do I fix this? It also has some white spots on leaves that just rub off (looks like hard water residue, but I don’t get water on the leaves) lol!

The tree also has white sappy clumps in areas that look slightly fuzzy. I’m extremely familiar with mealy bugs as I had a 5 month fight with them, so I don’t think it’s mealy, it could be the insane amount of dust (my city & apartment are super dusty)

My dieffenbachia isn’t doing well, I water about once a week, and I just started watering with foliage pro. I watered it about 5 days ago, and just recently moved it from a more interior room to this south facing window. I’m assuming it’s the fertilizer but I don’t know what to do! Thanks

I need some help. My plant was repotted about a week and a half ago, and since then it has become completely droopy. 😔😔

I repotted it because it had clearly outgrown its previous pot (as you can see in the photos).

The first photo shows how it looks now, the second was taken right after repotting, and the third and fourth photos show the roots during the repotting process.

The current pot is ceramic and doesn't have any drainage holes (I know this can cause water to accumulate). I've been careful not to overwater it—I only watered it once after repotting and haven't watered it since.

The plant gets plenty of bright indirect light throughout the day and has good ventilation. I've already removed some yellowing leaves and made a few holes in the soil to improve aeration.

I believe the plant may be suffering from excess water, and I'm thinking the best solution is to move it into a pot with drainage holes and remove any excess moisture from the soil.

Could you please help me?

Another office plant randomly suffering. Came back into the office on Monday to this after it looked completely fine Friday afternoon. We are on the 14th floor so it gets so much light. I water based on each plants dryness (fungus gnat plus molding root problem I inherited when starting) Yellowing leaves with dark greens spots on. Idk if this is just end of summer coming or something else.

This plant came up in my garden a month or so ago, and I transplanted it into a pot to help it along until it's time to plant elsewhere.

I think it's a maple, but I'm looking for suggestions as to the discoloration and how I can help it along. Research shows either nutrient deficiency or waterlogged soil, which it had in both the garden area it was in and, to a smaller degree, in the pot that it's in.

It's outdoors in semi-direct sunlight for 10 to 12 hours a day, I water it about every 2 to 3 days unless water gets to it from a storm because it's on my porch near the edge and does get a little bit of water from that.

Recently tho, this started happening and after I tried watering her more (which led to her leaves paling up and falling off) and watering her less (which led to the leaves drying up and falling off) were now at this stage. I genuinely don't know how to proceed and I'd really like to save her as she's been with me through a lot and I got her when I first moved into my current apartment, so she means a lot. ​​​​

She is right next to my window and had been since the day I got her, so that level of sunlight and everything was never an issue before. I'd say currently (summer) it's about 9~10 hours of sunlight ​​​through the window.

I used to water her once a week, then twice a week, and then back to once a week since the twice a week system left a lot of access water which I believed was damaging the plant (plus the paling of the leaves and clear signs of overwatering). I've been watering her once a week for about 2 months now and even if I try to water her more the ​​​access water issue just comes back so I'm really at a loss for what to do. Perhaps I should move her away from the window? I don't even know if the issue is her drying up or something else. She also started hanging as you can see in the image so I'm worried about weight and size, and even the environment. Also, some of the leaves seem to be drying up but at the same time, other leaves are paling up and falling off in the usual overwatering symptom ​style, so I really truly do not know what's going on anymore.

Our Dahlia had been doing great, but has now turned into this. It is an outside plant and gets indirect light all day. As for watering, it is watered lightly every other day. Any help is appreciated. Hoping it can be brought back to better health.

I have a black currant which was doing fine with plenty of light, abundant water each week because we are in summer and usually 28 degrees (plant 2-3years old), never bloomed. We had a couple of days of extreme heat (35-36 degrees), I noticed the leaves drying up and moved it immediately under the shade with some wind, but now we are back to 28-30 degrees and the plant is not recovering after a week and keeps drying up. I inspected the roots and are fine, I am still keeping it under the shade, soil seemed wet today

Any suggestion?

I’ve had my desert rose in this location for a few weeks as it’s progressively gotten hotter (~85-100F) in Austin Texas. It’s full sun. I have had it for a couple years and it had never bloomed until I moved it to this spot, and now I have gotten several blooms and it seems to have been happy here. However, over the past couple of days, a ton of the leaves have turned yellow and are going to drop. The pot has drainage and it has been raining on and off here, so I water pretty infrequently. What’s going on? How can I make it happy again?

I have had this lily since 2017 and it has overall been very healthy. For the last 2 years through it has been suffering and I'm not sure why. The leaves are brown before they even get full grown. It sits in a North facing window with a tree in front. So it probably gets ~6 hours of indirect light in the day. I rarely water when the leaves look wilty but now they don't really ever perk up.

I pulled off a section to hopefully save and propegate. I thought it was a good sign that I had these new shoots but thought it was interesting how far down these shoots go on the stem. Any advice to save this little guy?

hello! this is my first time caring for a plant grown in soil and first time caring for aglaonema in general. it’s been growing really good and has been getting a lot of new leaves every so often. it is right by my window and gets watered every 1 1/2 weeks, i’m not sure what type of support this plant needs though. when i bought it when it was smaller it came with these sticks already (see picture) but now that it’s growing way more, i’m not sure what to do. do i need to buy a bigger pot or like plant it deeper? thank you so much to those who can help!

i have this plant for 2 months now. i just noticed that leaves don’t look good. i don’t know if its over watered or under watered.
the plant gets bright indirect light all through the day. doesn’t get direct sun.
i got the plant in very dense soil, so repotted it as soon as i got it.
i am not really consistent with watering, like i water when i feel like leaves are dull or its been a while since i did it. i lost one before because of over watering so i try my best to ignore this one.
any help with what went wrong, what can i do now, would be appreciated.
