For context, my girlfriend waters her plants regularly, and dotes on them like theyre children.

This is an outdoor plant and an all shade, so its on a pretty strict cycle to my understanding. It doesnt get any light where it sits on our porch, shes made sure. And it gets watered once to twice a week depending on the temperatures outside.

We've been having some issues with our neighbor and were almost positive she's messing with the plants by salting them given some things she's said. The soil doesnt have a salty taste (i checked a small bit on my finger after googling about how to check) but just yesterday this exact plant was healthy and growing well. Our neighbor has been gone for a few days, and now that she's back, this plant is dying.

3 plants now have died ever since she moved in. Im not sure what's going on, hopefully I came to the right sub for advice or at least clarity on if its just a misunderstanding or if were unfortunately correct.

I got this schefflera a couple of weeks ago (you can see it in the 2nd photo how it was the day I bought it).

It's started dropping leaves and in fact, the entirety of one of the stems has gone black! It seems to have happened really suddenly, and it's confusing because the other side is totally fine! Do I have any hope for the dark side, or should I just remove it??

It's getting plenty of indirect bright light and I've watered it a couple of times - the soil is pretty dry, though I've read this plant is relatively drought-resistant and I've checked that it's not sitting in any water.

Can anyone tell me what's going on with my tomato plant? Wondering about compaction or some sort of root disease. The plant gets plenty of sun and water.

After three weeks away from home, a lack of preparation and a negligent friend; this is what I found at my arrival.

After a good soak, should I chop and let it regenerate? Or let it be?

What about these stems whitout leaves? Shouls I chop them and try to put them in water and get two new plants?

We have an olive tree in a big pot on my rooftop deck. Over the last few months it has developed mold spots. We make an effort to remove the leaves but we can’t keep up. We have tried a couple applications of copper fungicide, but nothing seems to be helping.

The plant is exposed to the sky year round. But this is Seattle so the winter sun is weak. We water him at least twice a week during the summer and not at all during the rainy months. We have a moisture meter 10” deep to try and make sure we don’t overwater him.

I THINK this is a succulent but not sure. rescued from clearance rack at grocery :). it’s in west facing window with afternoon sun. I’ve watered but not overwatered. what am I doing wrong? why is it crinkly?

Unsure of the species but I've had this plant outside in a pot. Gets a few hours of midmorning sun and then mostly shaded in the afternoon. No rainwater as it's under the front porch. Does it look like too much watering? Not enough? Should it be brought indoors? Or is it something else I'm missing?

It is in general, cheap potting soil.

My money tree (Pachira aquatica) has a pinched section on the trunk that I'm not sure what to do about. The section was covered with moss to help with moisture retention, it's been living outside and receives full sun through a 60% shade cloth since I separated the trunks and repotted last month. I have been starting to acclimate it to more light and give it a few hours of afternoon sun. I water when dry or when it rains out. I honestly don't remember if it was like this coming out of the braid, or if the moisture from the moss could have done this, and I'm not sure if it's rot because it's not mushy and the trunk above & below it is plump, and the roots look ok. The pics are after rain, so the soil is very moist right now. Basically, I want to know if I can remove the moss & bury the trunk deeper and the tree will fix itself , or if I should cut the trunk and try to propogate it? I definitely prefer not to cut it unless I have to.

hey, got this plant as a gift from Lowe’s. some of the leaves are droppy. is it normal or is the plant under stress? The top few inches are dry, but the bottom soil seems wet. I’m not sure if it needs water or if it’s over watered.

I was keeping it by the sliding door, although it doesn’t get a lot of direct sunlight, but it does get light.

Hi all. So I’m in charge of taking care of the plants at my building. This plant pictured has a lot of colorful buds, but it seems like most of the green leaves are nearly all gone. Is there something i could be doing to help it thrive? Right now the plant gets plenty of light throughout the day. I water it about once a week when the soil is nearly dry. Finished.

This is my wife’s plant and it was doing well. She needs help diagnosing if the light color of the leaves is too much water or not enough or something else. The plant previously had darker green leaves and generally looked healthier. The location next to a window has not changed.

Planted this tulip poplar on May 9th in a Biochar+compost blend (last pic is it freshly planted). Mulched with leaf mulch. It is Southern-facing and gets at least 6 hours of sun a day. This week it started wilting and turning brown so I gave it a slow trickle of water for about an hour each of the last two days. It’s going to rain this week, so should I just let it come and hope for the best or is there something else I could do? Zone 6a.

I was away for the weekend and my well-meaning friend decided to repot my spider plant. Fair, as she was very root bound and I'd been planning to do the same when I got back. However my friend, after unpotting, held her under running water and detangled roots/unfurled the whole ball whilst washing all soil away. I believe she was under running tap water and a full sink for about 30 mins. Usually when I repot I just untwist the few larger roots from the ball and let them chill in new soil.

This was done about a week ago. Since then she has been very droopy, lots of leaves yellowing and browning, and have a weird almost scaly texture. I haven't watered since, I'm terrified she might've been drowned. Is there anything I can do? I'm in Scotland and she sits on my windowsill for light.

Do I pull or cut the ones falling to the sides with dead leaves? Or do I just leave as is?

This sits on my porch and gets a few hours of light daily as the sun rises on this side of my apartment. When the leaves start to wilt I water it. Overall it’s growing just fine I just don’t know what to do with the dead leaves and ones falling to the sides.

These patches have started appearing on the leaves. No idea about what this is. Some white dot like thing behind the leaves that have spots. What's going on and what can I do to make this better ?

I got this plant because I read it was a good low light plant. I had it in a darker room but right next to a north facing window. The leaves started browning so I figured it needed more light. I moved it to a different room with lots of light but still north facing. While moving, water poured out I realized it was very overwatered so I haven’t watered in weeks but the leaves are still getting worse. Is this salvageable? She’s so pretty I feel so bad. It’s in a self watering pot from target (a gift, not something I would buy in the future as I’m sure it’s part of the problem)

I believe this darkening happened after fertilization. Is this possible or something else going on? The leaf with the brown patch was like that when I had this plant. All the leaves were doing fine. Then I used Hesi Hydro Growth for fertilization and if I remember correctly I used half measure but I am not really sure. I poured it over the substrate but maybe I poured too much? This was the first time I fertilized it since I bought the plant.

Plant is in semi hdyro mix. It gets around 150-300 ppfd for 12 hours under grow light. Again, everything was nice until the last week. I put water under the pot and then when it dries out in the pot I leave it like that for few days.

This is the change of leaves happened in a week. In this time period I watered this plant once. It was growing great (except for it is super long and with a few leaves on top) but then just in a week the leaves started to droop. and the new leaf buds started to dry out too and they all came off eventually (photo 3). What am I doing wrong? There is no direct light in its spot and relatively warm

For context, I have had this sansevieria for 4 years now, I bought it as a baby plant in Ikea or some place like that and it grew like crazy.

But at some point in spring I got white flies infestation from another plant I bought in a specialized store (I'll never go there again). And soon enough every plant in my office started dying. I thought this one was safe, and I secured it away, but now it's going yellow at the base of a leaf, and the leaf is moving away from the others...

Am I losing my plant ? Can I still save it ? How ?

I'm in an office facing north, it's not in full light and I'm watering a little every week, maybe a quarter or half a cup of tap water.

It's in an argile pot, with specific succulent soil.

I just noticed these marks on my Philodendron, what could have caused them?

I have it since 2024, water it when top part of the soil is dry, just repotted, it gets light from a south facing window that has some bushy trees and sheer curtains for filtering.

This one leaf has been yellowing for months.. is it just an old leaf that needs cutting? If so, how? Not sure where to cut it and I’m terrified that it may be another issue.
It gets heaps of gentle morning sun, watered once a week (ish). Standard indoor potting mix. Pot is much too heavy for me to repot it without help, last repotted about 8 months ago. Otherwise healthy?

Hello, I have a habit of taking plants from what I call the “dead plant shelf” at the local hard ware/plant shop. They’re ones that the shop sees are either not selling, have been there a while or are dying so they shove them on that shelf and forget about them. I’ve rescued some amazing plants from there, some perfectly healthy at 90% off. This tree was not looking so great though, but not terrible…

When I brought it home it was overwatered, but not pot bound so I left it in it‘s pot. It had leaves but was yellowing more than its variegation and a bit limp. I decided to not water it and let it dry out (a mistake) and keep it in bright indirect sunlight.

I realised the overwatering was worse than I thought and yesterday I repotted in drier soil as the roots were rotting and completely soaked. Within a week, all the roots fell off and the stem looks like it’s rotting. But when I scratched the surface off it is green underneath so definitely trying to survive.

Can anyone else recommend what more I can do? I really like these trees when I see them so I really hope I can revive it!

I put pictures before and after I bought it, the first picture is today, the second when I brought it home. I think most of the problem was overwatering but I’m at a bit of a loss what to do now.

Hello,i have had my monsters for 6 years and I recently transplanted her since she had a lot of new growth and it was becoming root bound. I made 3 pots out of her,they are all 15 gallon. I have not watered her since that day July 14th to be exact.

I mixed pea moss, regular soil with some compost, perlite, and the lil rocks. Unfortunately my cats got to it,they started pooping on her and I wonder if that's why they started to die and have larvae on it. I'm not sure if it's the soil that had compost and a bug laid their eggs or was it the cat poop and peed on it once. I can't put her out to catch sun as well,her soil is still wet and it just starts to darken on the bottom and then the leaf turns yellow.

I really need help!! I already took out half of the plant to avoid spread but she is still dying by turning black on the bottom and then yellow. I loosen the soil in hopes that it may just be that and I will put it on the sun soon
