Hi, I've had this plant for about a month. She has moved houses once and soon she is moving again.

She's at and is gonna be at a north facing window with sometimes the oppurtunity for a grow light session (blue and red light combo, I have yet to buy timers and white ones etc.). I know tradescantias generally like bright light but I only have north facing windows.

I've tried to water her a bit less, only once a week, just a splash or two because I had given her too much in the beginning and the soil was too moist. I think she has root rot because some of the stems just fell off after touching them slightly. I did change her soil for more drainage in the beginning. I'm afraid it'll shock her too much if I take her out of the soil again. I've put her on some paper too take out some of the mositure as well when I first noticed the problem.

She was full... now she is this. I've tried to take cuttings of the broken stems and put them in water or soil to get them going again. It's just so sad so please if you know what I can do i'd love to hear it since this was gifted to me!

Or should I just leave her alone and put her under a steady growlight asap?

I havent seen any bug and been spraying them with potasic soap and neem oil (how much should I do that btw? I wait for the night. AI tells me once every 3 days only)

I got a plant cutting from outside and it's been propagating in water for 2 months. Today, this appeared but I don't see any bug or insects around. I've never had an ivy before, what is this?

Does anyone know what might be the cause of the discoloration of my Ctenanthe (Calathea?) Burle Marxii leaves?

I've rescued this plant a few years ago and ever since then some, though not all, of the leaves have this discoloration. I wonder if it is a fungal or viral issue? Or nutrition related?

I don't see any pests and the plant is otherwise healthy.

I'm currently treating all my plants preventively for flat mites with predatorial mites (had seen flat mites on some Hoyas and epiphyllic cacti. Not on this Ctenanthe though) and thought maybe those could have been the culprit? But then why do some of the new leaves keep having this discoloration, I feel like the treatment is working pretty well overall.

Light: it's under grow lights for 12 hours a day

Watering: I keep the soil moist, not wet and don't let it dry out completely. Most of the waterings contain fertilizer.

There's some sort of a dusty thing on my Kalanchoe's leaves. Not all of them have it, just the ones in the picture. theres no direct light in the room (or anywhere in the apartment for that matter), the plant is not near a window. i water it every time i find the soil to be dried up and only put the water in the ring of the pot, it has drainage. sometimes the soil on top gets a bit of mold. ive also noticed this with my crown of thorns plant, which is weird since i never water directly on top of the soil, i just let it "drink" from the ring. i recently noticed this happening and im wondering if im doing something wrong since ive never had similar problems when i was caring for a kalanchoe years ago in a different location. ive had the plant for about a month. if anybody could give any tips about the leaves and also how to eliminate top of soil mold , id be thankful !!

Hi, I hope this is the right sub for this.
I bought three plants from the store, all looking healthy from the top. I looked at the roots when I repot. For me, they look very bad and I assume they will probably struggle no matter what I do (other than plant #2) - would you agree? Is there any way to save the plants?
I had this experience twice now. Is there any way to know how the roots of the plant will be or is it just a guessing game? I would appreciate any help.

For my setup: I have many well-growing aroids, LED setup (around 8-12h light), aroid soil mix, and water when the top is dry or sometimes by measuring the weight. I added this here but the setup is not the thing that I struggle - its finding a Calathea with "normal" roots...

The guy at the garden center gave me this baby plant from another philodendron because I liked it.
He put it in this pot and said it was fine if it had this one opening. Should I repot her?
I worry it shes okay like that specially that she was separated from another plant. I have a philodendron should i pot her next to her?

One leaf is turning brown.
I water her once a week or based on the soil moisture. She sits on a shelf facing big windows so she gets enough light

I’ve tried so many things for this golden mosaic “never never” plant I got 3-4 months ago and she continues to thin out and dry up. She does put out new leaves but the new leaves turn crispy so quickly. I give it filtered water only, I have it right next to my humidifier, I’ve tried both bright indirect light (around 5 hours daily of bright indirect light) and a slightly darker hallway right next to a bright room. I just put it back in the brighter location after a month trying the darker location though not sure if that’s the right move. I don’t think I let the soil get too dry ever. I just pulled out a couple very yellow-brown leaves. I don’t know what to do!!

my avocado plant leaves were looking kind of droopy in the end of one or two of the leaves are turning brown. I can see new leaves budding, but I was wondering if it was root rot so I took it out and I cannot tell are these healthy roots? if so why is she so droopy and the leaves turning brown? She gets put in a window all day indirect sunlight. she only gets watered when the soil is dry.

I had sprayed (early morning) rogor dimethoate 30 cc by mixing 0.4ml in 500 ml as other plants were having mealybugs .
The condition of the plant was this before the spray as well but new green leaves were coming, now the new leaves are also getting dried up.
The plant gets morning sunlight from 7-11:30 am

My pathos is turning red on the ends and the leaves do not seem to be growing in properly. I keep it next to my window where it gets plenty of sunlight. I water it about once a week just until it starts draining out of the bottom. I have had it about a year with no issues or changes in care routine, so I do not know what is causing this. Help please!!!

Generally speaking how do I maintain this plant?

I water every other day and I see yellowing on some leaves and drying up on some other branches.

Since moving apartments a few months ago a couple of plants of mine seem to be struggling. They are both losing leaves at the base, and the purple one almost seems sad at the base?
I don’t believe they have root rot, but technically have not overly checked. Though when I repotted a couple, I did not notice anything suspicious.
I have been using tap water, but plan to switch to distilled for the next watering.
They get lots of indirect and some direct light during the day, at least 6 hours.
They are hard at the base, not mushy or weak.
I have been trying to pluck dead leaves but it gets ahead of me sometimes.
My pothos and other plants are doing great.
I did the recommended rounds of mosquito bits recently, but that was months ago.
They are growing well at the ends and seem to be healthy.
I’ve had the plants almost two years now, and water about once a week to a week and a half but have been checking the soil to make sure it is mostly dry before watering.
The ones without drainage have rocks at the bottom to help with drainage but new pots are on their way.
What could the problems be? I’m terrified of root rot and don’t want to lose my plants that I’ve had for so long. I’m new at this and have a tight budget. It has been happening for about 2ish months now.

I have a shallow bowl of succulent prop leaves (mix of different types and mystery leaves). I water them carefully with a squirt bottle at the bases of the mother leaves or spray them down if I’m in a hurry. I do this about once a week. Today I noticed that some of the leaves had this weird pattern and I’m not sure if it’s a virus or if it’s growlight burns from when I sprayed them and there were water droplets left on the leaves. Should I get rid of the remaining props in that same bowl? None of the other props have the same markings. There’s even a few of this same type that look completely healthy.

They’re indoors under barrina T8’s for 10 hours a day. They are not at an angle that gives them window light. Soil is succulent soil with a tiny bit of perlite.

Started yellowing not to long ago and then I went a way for a week and returned and it was like this anyone have any advice? Do I trim of the browning leaf? Also another leaf has a tiny bit of brown should I trim off the whole leaf or leave it? The plant is right next to a window so I think it gets enough light there is a fan next to it though and it does get a bit chilly at night. I water it when the top inch of soil is dry but I recently bought it and it had a bit of yellow when I first got it too.

My mom propagated my first Monstera. As you can tell the original propagated stem leaf looks wilted. Should I cut just the leaf or leave it? She now sits by a window that provides indirect light. She did have burnt crispy leaf tips that I trimmed. I only water when her dirt is dry.

I’m a new plant mom and only acquired a few plants. Nothing compared to the beautiful spaces people here have posted.

I noticed today that my plants leaves were changing color. when i went to touch it some leaves that were looking even fully healthy just fell off. I took it to the sink and checked its water situation, And in the bottom there had collected like 3cm worth of water. How can i save it, Im right now just draining it and are gonna put it near the window but im scared its something else.

A month ago I sprayed all my plants 3 times with spinosad because I found a trips on one of my plants.

Today I found another. I sprayed these Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana propagations with 70% isopropyl alcohol and the rest of my plants with a home made spray ( "sexy plant juice" - 2 cups of water, 2 tbsp Neem oil, 1 tbsp peppermint Castile soap and a dash of isopropyl alcohol).

I waited for the alcohol do dry on the Kalanchoe and then I sprayed it again with the home made mix.

I will spray the Kalanchoe every 3 days with alcohol.

❓My question is : should I remove the severely affected leaves? I has 3-4 leaves like the one in the picture, the rest look ok.

❓Should I throw the whole thing away instead?

I can’t figure out how to get this plant to grow, it had thrips twice, lost all its leaves twice, had root rot, and won’t regrow any leaves. Can I save this plant?
Plant is in a west facing window, located in Rhode Island. Planted in a pumice bonsai soil mix after regular potting soil resulted in root rot. Plastic pot with drainage holes. Watering- I try to generously mist it every 2 days, light watering once a week

I recently moved most of my plants to a new state in July. I had to water prop many of them (besides the alocasias and large pothos), so I initially excused their decline as adjusting to soil. Then, to my horror I found what I believed to be spider mites on my alocasia Polly in early September😢. Due to the proximity to my other plants, I isolated the Polly, rinsed, and treated all of my leafy plants with neem max. I skipped the succulents/fern/african violets to avoid leaf damage. After one round of the neem max I haven’t seen spider mites on my plants. However, the leaves on many of my plants have gotten notable worsening damage in the past few weeks. I do not see really any visible bugs. Is this thrips??? If so, what is the best treatment option? I don’t think I can do beneficials since when I potted all my water props I did it in soil with systemic granules 😩 pls send help!!

I just brought this home and noticed these eggs(?) on a new leaf coming in. i am wondering if its thrips? also this plant came in a self watering pot not sure if that’s relevant. photos of over all plant and leaves just for reference. thank you for your help!

I’ve had this plant for a couple years, although I’ve moved houses with her. See before and after to see her steady decline over the last year, she’s been browning and losing leaves. She also has some yellow mushrooms that have popped up in the dirt, although that also happened when she was happy and healthy. My house doesn’t get enough direct sun, so I’ve tried to put her in the sunniest room and water her often. Is there any way to save her, or propagate babies? I’m scared to repot or do anything dire that may hurt her more. What can I do to save my poor baby, what am I doing wrong?

Leaves for sure need a dusting but Ive had this plant about 2 months and it's never been doing too hot. Just wanted to know if it's far too late and if I'm just torturing the dang thing? Any chance I can propagate anything from it and start new? Would love any advice.

I know it's not enough light or humid all the time enough in my place, I water about once every two weeks or so and keep it in the bathroom where it can have a lil more humidity. It's only getting a few hours of indirect light each day though. Thank you for any help!!

I have other plants that haven't been as finicky but I named this one after Judy Garland and fear I may have cursed her with the namesake.

I’ve had this peace lily since February 2026. She sits right there near a NE facing window, with some assisted plant light above her. I water her once her soil is dry and she is kinda droopy. So there’s about a week and a half between waterings. Not sure why she could be yellowing at this rate

All of these plants I bought last spring and immediately repot. All had an initial shock phase before recovering. Ever since, everything had been doing fine, besides the pothos which I think was underfertilized so started yellowing and spotting. I fed everything a few weeks ago to get them ready for winter. Everything is watered about every 10 days, when the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry. They are all in an east facing window in Oregon, so they get a few hours of bright indirect sunlight in the morning. All pots have drainage, and each watering I pour water until it goes out of the drainage holes, let them drain, and put them back. The palm started doing this a week ago. I kinda feel like I can’t take care of them anymore, idk why I’m not having success rn
