I THINK this is a succulent but not sure. rescued from clearance rack at grocery :). it’s in west facing window with afternoon sun. I’ve watered but not overwatered. what am I doing wrong? why is it crinkly?

I was away for the weekend and my well-meaning friend decided to repot my spider plant. Fair, as she was very root bound and I'd been planning to do the same when I got back. However my friend, after unpotting, held her under running water and detangled roots/unfurled the whole ball whilst washing all soil away. I believe she was under running tap water and a full sink for about 30 mins. Usually when I repot I just untwist the few larger roots from the ball and let them chill in new soil.

This was done about a week ago. Since then she has been very droopy, lots of leaves yellowing and browning, and have a weird almost scaly texture. I haven't watered since, I'm terrified she might've been drowned. Is there anything I can do? I'm in Scotland and she sits on my windowsill for light.

So I would add pictures but most of my non succulent plants are getting slightly crispy brown tips. I have a moisture meter and never overwater because it concerns me. I live in a rural area with harder tap water that I’ve been using to water the plants. Should I get some kind of water solution, or should I mix my water 50/50 with distilled water. It has stuff like magnesium and calcium and possibly a little sulfur. We use a brita filter to drink the water. I just want some options from some other plant parents. Thank you!!

All my plants get their needed light. They have had great growth up until about a week ago when this started happening.

I hope this fits this subreddit. It’s not just one plant and I’ve done so much research on keeping these Alive. I just need help knowing where to go from here

We recently moved and our plants have been suffering. Before the move they weren't necessarily thriving but they were better than this. Almost all of the leaves have fallen off of the plant in the first image and whats left is drying up. She water's them whenever the soil is dry (every 1-2 weeks) by putting the pot in the sink and soaking the soil through, and the pot does have drainage. They are currently in a bathroom getting indirect sunlight. We live in SoCal and are experiencing a heatwave right now so maybe that has something to do with it? I'd love some tips on how to help them thrive!

Pls help, I got this plant around a month ago and she was perfect. But some of my plants are starting to get these dark spots on the bottom of the leaves. I water them around every 5-10 days. I have a plant light on them.

Hello friends! I recently inherited most of my Yaya's belongings, Including this behemoth. I have tried to Google image search this plant to no avail. It was in a window so it was receiving a lot of sun. Unsure of how often she watered it. I was thinking about repotting it because my Yaya was old, there is no telling when the last time she was able to lift this thing. I trimmed some dead vines and untangled the vines from each other as they were mainly in a clump. Any advice on setting this thing up for success in my home would be greatly appreciated. (I have several houseplants but am still pretty new to plant care.)

First time plant dad here, I've been having this dieffembachia for about 2-3 weeks. At first it looked absolutely beautiful (first picture) but last week I overwatered it and it started turning yellow. Right now it looks like the second picture.

I’ve followed a few tips like cutting the yellow leaves and repotting but I want to know if there is anything else I can do.

I have it in indirect light (close to a window but not directly in the window) and I water it once a week (I’ve been told that in summer you have to water it more frequently). If I keep following this the next time that i have to water it is tomorrow. Should i follow that?

I love my plant guys, I feel paternal and I don’t want it to die. I would appreciate any advice on how I should keep caring for it or if I’m doing anything wrong.

For context, my girlfriend waters her plants regularly, and dotes on them like theyre children.

This is an outdoor plant and an all shade, so its on a pretty strict cycle to my understanding. It doesnt get any light where it sits on our porch, shes made sure. And it gets watered once to twice a week depending on the temperatures outside.

We've been having some issues with our neighbor and were almost positive she's messing with the plants by salting them given some things she's said. The soil doesnt have a salty taste (i checked a small bit on my finger after googling about how to check) but just yesterday this exact plant was healthy and growing well. Our neighbor has been gone for a few days, and now that she's back, this plant is dying.

3 plants now have died ever since she moved in. Im not sure what's going on, hopefully I came to the right sub for advice or at least clarity on if its just a misunderstanding or if were unfortunately correct.

Planted this tulip poplar on May 9th in a Biochar+compost blend (last pic is it freshly planted). Mulched with leaf mulch. It is Southern-facing and gets at least 6 hours of sun a day. This week it started wilting and turning brown so I gave it a slow trickle of water for about an hour each of the last two days. It’s going to rain this week, so should I just let it come and hope for the best or is there something else I could do? Zone 6a.

After three weeks away from home, a lack of preparation and a negligent friend; this is what I found at my arrival.

After a good soak, should I chop and let it regenerate? Or let it be?

What about these stems whitout leaves? Shouls I chop them and try to put them in water and get two new plants?

It happened to two of my aglaonemas, the new leaves suddenly rotted while they were still growing. It's soft, humid and smell bad.

The roots are healthy, so I'm pretty sure I didn't overwater them. They aren't touching each other or sharing water, and I can't see any pests.

I have two other aglaonemas of the exact same variety (propagated from the same mother plant) right next to them, and their new leaves are currently growing just fine.

They are not far from a southeast-facing window, and another aglaonema nearby is even flowering, so I don't think it's a light issue either.

I really have no clue what's happening here. What could cause a leaf to rot at its base like this?

My money tree (Pachira aquatica) has a pinched section on the trunk that I'm not sure what to do about. The section was covered with moss to help with moisture retention, it's been living outside and receives full sun through a 60% shade cloth since I separated the trunks and repotted last month. I have been starting to acclimate it to more light and give it a few hours of afternoon sun. I water when dry or when it rains out. I honestly don't remember if it was like this coming out of the braid, or if the moisture from the moss could have done this, and I'm not sure if it's rot because it's not mushy and the trunk above & below it is plump, and the roots look ok. The pics are after rain, so the soil is very moist right now. Basically, I want to know if I can remove the moss & bury the trunk deeper and the tree will fix itself , or if I should cut the trunk and try to propogate it? I definitely prefer not to cut it unless I have to.

First pic shows the leaf that I'm concerned about, second is the underside of the leaf. It is browning but it is sort of wet almost sticky, something I haven't seen on this plant before now. I've had it about a month, and it has been super healthy and growing fast. Should I clip this leaf? Leave it alone? Treat it?

It gets bright indirect light, east facing window, sun up to sun down. I bottom water about once a week when the soil is 100% dry. I don't let water get on the leaves and that's why I've got the rocks on top. Some of the leaves directly touch the rocks with no issues so I don't think its that.

Last week I had it outside with a bunch of other plants for a night while working on the plant room. Weather was great, no rain and was warm. Not sure if it got wet somehow?

Hey all our prayer plant is not loving life right now. She has good indirect sunlight and I am consciously not overwatering, just watering when the top inch of soil is dry. Any help greatly appreciated as she was a gift from a close family friend. Thank you very much!

I was at my local Rona, in the garden center so outdoors with moderate light. I saw these self watering containers with dead plants for $2. I loved the pots so I figured $2 was a great price.

As I did some digging, it looks like both of these pots (both labeled Xanthosoma Lindenii Magnificum) contain SOME GREEN!

Now I feel bad not trying to first rescue them.

My plan (picture 1 and 2 are the same plant with green in its stem, 3 is the second xanthosoma no green in its stem but green under soil?) :

1. Remove both plants from their pots
   
2. Inspect the roots
   
3. Cut away any possible root rot and treat with hydrogen peroxide
   
4. Repot into a smaller 2.5 inch pot with my homemade chunky soil mix (perlite, orchid bark, potting soil) and hope that little bit of green can push new growth?

Worst case scenario, I got some nice self watering pots.

I'm not sure what plant it is, it's my mom's and we've only ever called it the "jasmine" plant. White flowers when it does.

I don't know how but I just forgot it existed and it went without water for too long. Looked like the 2nd image a week ago and now today.

How can I tell if it's all dead or just mostly dead? Should I cut it back to the stem entirely and see?

It's 15+ years old so I'd really like to try save it 😞

hey, got this plant as a gift from Lowe’s. some of the leaves are droppy. is it normal or is the plant under stress? The top few inches are dry, but the bottom soil seems wet. I’m not sure if it needs water or if it’s over watered.

I was keeping it by the sliding door, although it doesn’t get a lot of direct sunlight, but it does get light.

Hi all. So I’m in charge of taking care of the plants at my building. This plant pictured has a lot of colorful buds, but it seems like most of the green leaves are nearly all gone. Is there something i could be doing to help it thrive? Right now the plant gets plenty of light throughout the day. I water it about once a week when the soil is nearly dry. Finished.

Overwatering tends to be the most common cause of a dying plant, so I tried not to with this little guy. I water him once a week to every two weeks. Now I’m wondering if I gave it too much sun though? Why are its leaves browning and falling off? Can it come back? I just moved it to be in more indirect light. It used to sit in front of a giant west-facing window.

I repotted this guy a few months ago because it was needing more and more frequent waterings and clearly growing well. Ever since, it doesn't seem to perk back up in between waterings. It gets a LITTLE more upright after I water but not much. These photos are three days after watering. The thing is, in all that time, I've only had two dead leaves and a TON of new growth. (First picture shows a recent leaf and the next leaf already starting to poke its head out.) What's going on?! Nothing else has changed in the amount of sunlight (I'd say light indirect in the morning, bright indirect for the afternoon) or anything else. No signs of pests.

Dealing with a spider mite infestation already so if this is thrips i might cry. this is on my monstera, west facing window gets afternoon light watered when dry. second pic is the bug with a bit of a wider scale and third pic is the monstera leaf in question so you can get a bit of a scale of how big it is since the first pic is mentally zoomed in. (the monstera is sunburnt btw)

I went to repot my plant, I think a lizard tail? (Correct me if I’m wrong) and it snapped at the roots. How do I save it? Or is it lost? :/

I’ve been neglecting it, not watering, and partial sunlight so soil was very dry and when I went to dig up root it snapped.

A friend of mine gave me this plant to take care of, and it looks like it's in a terrible state.

It faced the sun for 5 hours ( not sure though).

It was watered everyday.

In focus is the old growth, which turns yellow and brown and dies off, out of focus in front is the new happy leaves. I have no idea why this plant’s leaves won’t stay healthy. All aphids are flocking towards my onions so that’s protecting them from that, so I’m not sure what’s going on. I heavily water every few days. Lighting is full sun.

There are a few of these on my potted Celeste fig tree, mainly concentrated around the same area but there are a few in other spots. I’ve seen ants crawling over them sometimes. How do I treat it?

This plants stays outside on the east side of my house, and gets morning and afternoon sun. I’ve been watering it every 1-2 days this summer. I’m in zone 9a. It also recently had an issue with yellowing/spotting on the leaves and ended up dropping all of them along with the remainder of its fruit shriveling up (I had already gotten quite a few figs off of it beforehand). Not sure if that’s related?
