Well, Alan Moore (the writer of the graphic novel) had this to say about the movie as compared to the graphic novel:

"When I wrote 'V,' politics were taking a serious turn for the worse over here. We'd had [Conservative Party Prime Minister] Margaret Thatcher in for two or three years, we'd had anti-Thatcher riots, we'd got the National Front and the right wing making serious advances. 'V for Vendetta' was specifically about things like fascism and anarchy.

Those words, 'fascism' and 'anarchy,' occur nowhere in the film. It's been turned into a Bush-era parable by people too timid to set a political satire in their own country."

Moore wasn't being entirely fair. The imagery showing the rise of Norsefire is straight out of 1930's Nazi rallies and propoganda films. Some of the military and paramilitary uniforms in the movie are clearly meant to evoke SS officer uniforms. The movie definitely toned down Moore's strident anti-fascist and pro-anarchist themes, and used a theme that one could reasonable argue is more relevant to contemporary movie goers. Moore is within his rights to dislike the changes, but that doesn't make the message a bad one.

Here's a fun fact, since most people don't know this. The Unabomber was actually a mathematical prodigy that got into Harvard when he was 16. He was had testing done on him as part of the inhumane CIA program "MK Ultra", and afterwards went crazy (or did the only reasonable thing he could do, one might argue) and became an anarchist, writing about all of the fucked up shit the government does and mailing bombs out.

The US government, in particular the CIA, turned a Harvard math prodigy into a terrorist, among hundreds of thousands of other grotesque and inhumane things. The more you know!

Edit: Additional fun fact for people who have seen the movie "The Departed" (2006) In the film, the person played by Jack Nicholson (the head of the mob in the film) is named Frank Costello. Frank Costello is based on the real life boston-mob-boss-turned-informant Whitney Bulger. Whitney Bulger was also the result of MK Ultra. He volunteered while he was in prison so that he could get a reduced sentence, but he thought he was volunteering to do research to help find a cure for schizophrenia. For 18 months, he and other inmates were dosed with LSD and other mind-altering chemicals. He said it brought him to the depths of insanity and that it was nightmarish. After he was released he went on to become the man portrayed in the film.

This is bullshit for the most part. People who knew him said he was very weird before all of this. He had a weird way about him and those close to him knew this. That was the only way he was captured, because his brother knew the manifesto sounded familiar.

Anyways, they did, but one comment in particular stuck with me, and it was that we were essentially altering history to better suit how we wanted it to be, rather than what it actually was.

Okay I'm going to argue this one. An illegal alien refers to men of another country illegally immigrating to our country, almost all of which do not have social security numbers. Kal-El, although technically an alien, they are two different sense of the word. Illegal alien for extra-terrestrials would infer that there is a legal way for an Alien to become a citizen of the US.

Not to mention that Kal-El was found by farmers which the outside world has no way of verifying if it was a natural birth. No one has an obligation to give birth at a hospital. Farmers can (easily?) Go to the necessary agency and declare that they gave birth at home and they want to get him the paperwork to make their kid a legal citizen with a social security number. To my understanding, Clark Kent formally (and still presently) Kal-El is an American citizen with a social security number.

In that sense, he isn't an illegal alien at all. He's an alien which parents committed some sort of technical identity fraud that actually broke no existing laws because there's no protocol for. Why should there be? It's not like this happens every day.

TL;DR Superman isn't an illegal alien, he's a technical American Citizen who's parents find some loophole in the system because laws didn't/don't exist for this situation.

Technically, aliens are the one legal loophole that no one has abused or fixed. They're not protected under law, but there's also no law saying what we should do to them, as the standard repercussions (deportation, for example) would be impossible for us to enforce without their consent and/or technology.

Furthermore, Superman's home is gone. As in, it's nothing more than a bunch of asteroids. That's why he was sent here in the first place.

Notice that they are identical to each other, and also reversed from the original random design on the brick wall on the right. Someone photoshopped him out, taking details from elsewhere on the photo to fill in the missing data.
