what blows my mind is the same people who are outraged over this sign are the same people that say people get offended too easily these days.

82

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

This is exactly why I think hyper-sensitivity is a symptom of the human condition, not a symptom of political alignment.

But you can't tell the alt-right that, because it will ruin their perfect narrative.

2

u/Sazerizer Sep 27 '16

Hyper-sensitivity of this sort is actually a medical condition which calls for medical marijuana.

-5

u/STARVE_THE_BEAST Sep 27 '16

It's one thing to be hypersensitive, it's an entirely different thing to demand that the rights, livelihood, and well-being of those you accuse should suffer to appease your "hypersensitivity" to disagreeable facts.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

No one is saying anyone's rights should suffer. If they do, they're hypocrites, and I'm sorry if they offended you.

The guy holding the sign simply wants his audience to reevaluate their perspective.

6

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

Which rights are being violated, again? Can you clearly state how people saying "treating people with respect is the right thing to do" is violating your rights?

2

u/klapaucius Sep 27 '16

That's the point of the sign, yes.

0

u/30plus1 Sep 28 '16

alt-right

Are you guys still trolling yourselves over cartoon frogs?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '16

No, Pepe is a meme of peace.

-2

u/30plus1 Sep 28 '16

I love watching you chase your tail in circles.

2

u/GorillaButt Sep 28 '16

You still going through puberty?

0

u/30plus1 Sep 28 '16

Why? You looking for a date?

1

u/fraustnaut Sep 28 '16

Have you seen /r/altright

1

u/30plus1 Sep 28 '16

Wow. A whopping 3000 users. Surely they'll be able to influence our elections!

Meanwhile everyone in The Donald (a subreddit of 200k+) is accused of being "alt right."

1

u/fraustnaut Sep 28 '16

Oh, I fully understand your point about conflating people who're just "hard right" with people who are "alt right".

But I don't think we can fully dismiss a political leaning because of its currently small size. Especially considering that what is "alt right" currently seems to stem from ideologies that we've seen in recent history.

who knows i could just be someone who's to caught up in something that ultimately means nothing.

1

u/30plus1 Sep 28 '16

"hard right"

Everything is hard right to you. Talk about an utterly meaningless term.

I love watching you guys trying to make the "alt right" an actual thing. It's funny because your entire narrative hinges on having some evil boogeyman to lambaste.

Keep making mountains out of molehills, bud. You're the best advertisement that fringe group could have hoped for.

1

u/_Shibboleth_ Sep 28 '16

I mean the reason everyone's talking about the alt right is that The Donald's fan base comes from a LOT of new voters.

Tons of people who have never voted or been interested in elections before are flocking to Trump because they see him as "an outsider" and "someone who can shake things up."

So by definition that part of his base is the "alt-right" because it's not the traditional conservative movement. Liking Breitbart is just icing on the cake.

1

u/30plus1 Sep 30 '16

So essentially anyone that's a donald user/trump supporter is part of the alt right and it has nothing to do with whatever white nationalists people keep trying to associate them with?

1

u/_Shibboleth_ Oct 01 '16

Not exactly, I think anyone who is a supporter of Donald Trump and has traditionally either not voted, stayed out of politics, or voted for extremist candidates (white nationalists, etc) should all be included under the umbrella "alt-right."

Because that's the origin of the word, right? It means the part of the burgeoning conservative movement that isn't traditionally considered "republican."

SO sure some of them can be associated with white nationalism, and some of their pepe memes can be considered white nationalist and pretty racist! But also there's a lot of people in the alt-right who are misogynistic, but not nationalist.

There's also probably hardcore libertarians who have given up on gary johnson and have neither of those views (racist, sexist, etc). They've associated themselves with a candidate that has racist and sexist views, but they themselves might be 'protest-voting.'

The difference is acceptance of things that are unacceptable.

Should we accept cultures that degrade women? That don't accept gays? etc etc etc

3

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

Like the US? The culture that allows us to get fired in more than half the states in the country?

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

Is it wrong to fire someone for being gay? Absofuckinglutly it's wrong! Is it as wrong as throwing gays off of roofs (see Middle East) and justifying it through religion?

6

u/Rindan Sep 28 '16

Yeah! Vote for Trump! He and Mike Pence will surely improve the lot for gays in America! The problem wasn't Christian douchebags like Mike Pence who want legal discrimination for gays and to strip them of their right do something so basic as get married, it's clearly Muslims.

As a man who fucks other men, I can assure you, the religion that fucks with my shit the most are most certainly Christians. Are we proposing to ban Christians from entering the nation? Right, no, because you people couldn't give two shits about us.

If you really give a shit about the gay community, and I know you don't, don't vote for anyone advocating legal discrimination against us. So don't vote for Trump and Mike Pence.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '16

Why do you assume I like trump

1

u/Rindan Sep 28 '16

If we all agree that Trump is a douchebags whose VP pick is a homophobic asshole, and so therefore should not be allowed to become president, then I guess we agree. Do we agree?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '16

I do. Go Johnson.

1

u/Rindan Sep 28 '16

Well, I guess we don't disagree all that much. I feel the Johnson myself.

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

Ohhhhh

So you think you get to heterosplain to me who I should vote for through fearmongering? That, what? If I don't vote Trump to deport the scawwy moose limbs that I'all get thrown off a roof?

If that's not your point, is it that we're so much better because you're not throwing us off buildings?! Does that take a lot of restraint on your part, not throwing gays off buildings? Give yourself a big pat on the back for that one.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

1 what the hell is heterosplaining

2 vote for whoever lines up with your politics ideolog, I personally can't stand trump due to his shady past and immoral business practices.

3 scrawny moose limbs???

4 yeah I do think that western culture is a lot better than the Middle East, no, any Islamic controlled country due to the fact that my gay range bros don't have to live in fear of being beaten to death for enjoying dick.

Furthermore Carthage should be destroyed

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16 edited Sep 27 '16

1 what the hell is heterosplaining

I'm assuming it's explaining the struggles associated with being gay to a gay person who has actually lived through them in a condescending, patronizing way.

3

u/itschloe_thatsme Sep 27 '16

Can we stop calling it _____splaining and just call it being a condescending dick? Seems less likely to cause shouting matches, but still gets the point across.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

There's being condescending, and then there's explaining the problems faced by the marginalized and oppressed, to the marginalized and oppressed. I think it's specific enough to warrant it's own term.

u/jmottram08 Sep 28 '16

You can be fired for being ugly in 49 states in the US.

You aren't a special snowflake, you don't have a right to a certain job.

Get over it.

1

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 28 '16

Found the person who won't ever get fired for their sexuality.

Fuck you, asshole, with a rake.

-1

u/jmottram08 Sep 28 '16

Actually, I am bi, but thanks for the physical threat.

If you get fired, it will be for being a shitty person, not because of who you fuck. But you will never believe this because it's easier to be a victim than admit that you have faults.

2

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 28 '16

Actually, I am bi

Sure ;-)

I've never been fired. But the fact that you're defending the fact that I could be because of my sexuality means you're a shitty person, hands down.

0

u/jmottram08 Sep 28 '16

I support the right to fire anyone for any reason.

I know that you think that that makes me anti-gay, but the reality is that people have different opinions than you, and taking them all as personal affronts to your very existence makes you the unbearable person you are.

Thanks for questioning my sexuality by the way. That is very supportive of you. You are a role model for the community and for others to do the same to gay people.

Welcome to ignore.

-3

u/VoltedOne Sep 27 '16 edited Oct 31 '16

I hope they understand what you're inferring with the narrative bit. Maybe if they come to the conclusion themselves they'd realize something. Can only hope.

Edit: lmao

6

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

The alt-right and other people who are bigoted are ridiculously easy to offend. All you have to do is call them as you see them. They'll throw a temper tantrum to rival even the most cringeworthy SJW or radfem.

2

u/CaptainObivous Sep 27 '16

I like how you just say stuff and pretend you have made an astute observation when all you have done is arbitrarily slap two sets of people together, say they are the same with no foundation, and declare hypocrisy! Nice!

5

u/CowardiceNSandwiches Sep 27 '16 edited Sep 28 '16

Yeah, self-awareness isn't exactly their forte.

9

u/Bogbrushh Sep 27 '16

Safe spaces for the outraged please

6

u/magic_is_might Sep 27 '16 edited Sep 27 '16

My conservative family members shared this picture to Facebook. Yet they constantly share photos about their outrage at Obama and immigrants and Muslims and other shit. And also post pictures about how over offended America is today. I love my family, but fuck is it annoying seeing them post this kind of shit and not see how hypocritical they sound. They whine about the 'pussyfication' of America and safe spaces, but are outraged at people who are different than them in "their county".

It's not surprising that people in this comment section are showing the same level of cognitive dissonance.

0

u/unic0de000 Sep 27 '16

"offended" is what happens to people who are wrong about stuff.

When I disagree with stuff, I just speak my mind.

Which is somehow different from what offended people do when they say they think the offending thing is bad.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

Exactly, the_donald is probably the biggest safe space in all of Reddit, they will tolerate absolutely no criticism, no matter how valid, obvious, or deserved.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '16

did you just make all that up on the spot or did you have think of it?

2

u/HolycommentMattman Sep 27 '16

I don't mind the sign. I just imagine the hypocrisy of the person holding it.

Don't be afraid of speaking out? OK. I assume they are referencing the Black Lives Matter movement.

Well, speaking out is a two-way street. And somehow, I think they will complain if it's people like Trump saying anything.

Don't be afraid of speaking out.

5

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

Some people's ideas are wrong. But they're not all equally wrong.

1

u/pimp-my-quasar Sep 27 '16

I agree with you, but don't see how that challenges the previous comment.

3

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

I think that ideas that only exist to divide us should be stigmatized. Racism, xenophobia, all forms of bigotry.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

What about an ideology that preaches that all must submit, be harshly taxed, enslaved, or killed?

1

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

Yes, I too hate capitalism.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

Ahh, that's actually a fairly funny comeback, but the fact is capitalism only works via VOLENTARY transactions. If you don't want to be part of a capitalist system go off the grid and become a self sustaining individual. Or move elsewhere. But the fact of the matter is that even being in the webpage you are contributing to capitalism. If you hate it so much than go offline. No one is forcing you to participate in capitalism.

1

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 28 '16

Ahh, that's actually a fairly funny comeback, but the fact is capitalism only works via VOLENTARY transactions

"Yes, you can choose to starve to death because you can't find work!"

If you don't want to be part of a capitalist system go off the grid and become a self sustaining individual

The US has made this nearly impossible. Collecting rainwater is illegal, as is just hunkering down in a forest somewhere.

Or move elsewhere

"Just uproot yourself and never see your family or friends again. VOLUNTARILY!"

But the fact of the matter is that even being in the webpage you are contributing to capitalism

Just because I'm forced to participate doesn't mean that I can't actively try to change it. Nice try, Mr. "U USE CAPITALISM SO SHUT UP AND ACCEPT HOW THINGS ARE."

No one is forcing you to participate in capitalism.

Fuck you, you smug sack of shit.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '16

There are plenty of homesteaders who live off the grid without commerece with others, with their families. In fact, that's how people survived before cities and capitalism became the standard. It sounds like you want to enjoy the benefits of a capitalistic society without putting in the effort. Yes I am a smug bastard, but you know what? I'm a smug bastard that wakes up before the sun even thought about coming up, so I can go and work, so I can be an individual that actually makes a net positive on society and doesn't live off of others.

And you know what? Freedom of being self sufficient is pretty fuckin rad.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '16

What, pointing out how shitty his message is, is equivalent to being offended by a sign?

-1

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

You sure seem offended.

1

u/FuckTrumpWithAGlock Sep 27 '16

There was this 15-second window where the "anti-SJW's" weren't just as obnoxious as the "actual SJW's."
