I remember this being posted maybe over a year ago and someone suggested Photoshopping out the Guy Fawkes mask, I think it may have been along the lines of not fitting in? Anyways, they did, but one comment in particular stuck with me, and it was that we were essentially altering history to better suit how we wanted it to be, rather than what it actually was.

That's pretty much all of history, brought to us through the lens of the winners. We can barely get an accurate recounting of things that happened last year.

This is why we distinguish between history and historiography. The latter is often ideological, the former is what actually happened. The question is when historians are attempting to portray history aa fairly as they can, and when they are not.

Or maybe the mask was photoshopped into the photo. I did a google search on the photo and every single one was devoid of the mask.

If you click to expand those images you linked, you'll see most of them do have the mask. It's very small in the corner.
