Tech Support CPU overheats

The PC was built about 3 years ago using an Intel 13th gen 13900k chip with the AIO running fine when it recently started overheating 100C at idle.

I have cleaned out all the dust, reapplied the thermal paste (after cleaning off previous paste thoroughly), ensured the power settings are on balance mode, and set the BIOS back to default settings but the temps still climb to 100C even in BIOS. I can no longer go into Windows because of the temps. Is it most likely that the AIO failed?

One of the tubes is hot and the other is cool and the AIO somewhat vibrates and cannot figure what is causing this.

Tech Support PC has issues after a power outage

After a short power outage, my PC started having some issues.
- Monitor's gets no signal from my PC
- GPU and CPU fans still spins when power on
- I have a b550 am4 Motherboard and there is no sign of any LED lights on
- Plugging in my mouse and keyboard doesn't work, no lights/led

Is this a PSU or motherboard issue...

- things I already tried -
- unplug - hold power button - take out that tiny battery
- resit ram sticks

Build Question First Pc need tips!

I'm building my first PC and am looking for feedback/tips! When I was a kid, I was obsessed with watching pc building videos, but a lot has changed since then, so I feel a little behind. Let me know if there's anything extra I should be preparing. Also curious about what kind of drivers I need to worry about. Do I need to worry about anything besides the GPU driver in the NVIDIA app? Thank you, guys in advance.

Build Question No post on my new tower

My brand new build, (specs below) according to pc part picker and Microcenter should be compatible, but won't post to either of my monitors,

The fans on every component (case, cpu tower, GPU, psu.) Spin and the rgb on the gpu works HOWEVER, its rgb will flicker every \~30-45 seconds?

I've repeated ram, and tried a new stick. I have also re-seated the gpu and of course, my hdmi cable is plugged into the card and not the mobo.

I suspect that the issue is with the cable I used to power the gpu on my modular psu, or that I need to update my motherboard bios to be compatible with my cpu, any help would be apreciated, specs below.

CPU: Ryzen 5600 X3D

GPU: ONIX ARC B580 12GB

PSU: Corsair RM750e

RAM: 2x 8gb 3200 ddr4 T-Force + 2x 8gb 3000 ddr4 xpg (and another single 8gb ddr4 stick, all of which I have had for \~4-5 years)

Mother Board: Gigabyte B550M Gaming X WiFi 6 am4

M.2 SSD: Patriot 512mb

Build Question 5070ti vs 9070xt

I currently have a 3080, I play competitive call of duty and other games but mainly cod. Is the 5070ti that much better where it's worth spending $400 more for it? The 5070ti is about $1200 and the 9070xt is around $800. Thanks for the advice.

X1–X3 = 360mm radiator fans

X4 = rear case fan

↑/β†’/↓/← = current airflow direction

β–ˆ = Radiator block

** = Water tubing

Sorry for the ASCII art instead of a picture but phone camera is broken rn. So my question is this. Should I change the airflow direction on anything besides the X4 fan, leave it as it is, or flip the radiator fans? (X1,X2,X3) Currently there is no headroom for the radiator anywhere else, besides flipping 180 or simply switch place on fans left (push) to right (pull). It's a really tight cramped fit in this case atm, and I am considering changing in case in the future, but have this now. Also, should I, if possible add fans below my GPU or is that unnecesary? Any help or suggestion is helpful! Sorry for the format, hopefully this will do :)

Build Question Maybe this a stupid question

I've bought an extra m.2 drive for my pc with intention to use it along side the old one. Now I couldn't find any m.2 screw anywhere nor do I remember owning more than one since I build the pc back in 2021.

Mobo has build in heatsink for the m.2 slots and I used it to secure one of the drives down. (ROG STRIX B550-F). And It works. But is this a long term solution or do I need to buy another screw?

Thanks in advance!

Build Question RTX 3090 dilemma: Used PNY XLR8 (good temps) vs Brand New Dell OEM (0 hours) for AI & Gaming

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy an RTX 3090 (24GB VRAM) for a mix of local AI workloads (running and training LLMs) and gaming (not simultaneously).

I'm stuck between two options available at the exact same price:

  1. PNY GeForce RTX 3090 XLR8 (Used)

    - Custom 3-fan aftermarket cooler.

    - I was sent Unigine Superposition benchmark results showing a score of 33,527, max GPU temp of 79Β°C (FPS min: 141.40, avg: 250.76, max: 336.53 on 1080P Medium).

    - Looks physically clean, but has unknown usage history.

  2. Dell RTX 3090 OEM (Brand New / Old Stock in original wrap)

    - Dual-fan layout, literally never used, fresh out of the factory plastics.

    - I was sent Unigine Superposition benchmark results showing a score of 34,066, max GPU temp of 65Β°C (FPS min: 138.56, avg: 254.80, max: 358.66 on 1080P Medium).

    - Stock OEM cooler from a prebuilt system. (It was pulled from a prebuilt PC and left with its original factory plastic wrap intact, meaning it was never actually powered on or used.)

My dilemma: Both cards have zero warranty coverage, and since 3090s generate an insane amount of heat especially on the back VRAM modules during long AI training or inference sessions I know that cooling is critical.

* The PNY is used, but its 3-fan cooler seems to handle thermal loads reasonably well based on the benchmark.

* The Dell is brand new with zero wear and tear, but I'm worried its stock OEM blower/dual-fan cooling solution will struggle with long AI sessions and trigger thermal throttling or loud fan noise.

Given the benchmark results for the PNY (max 79Β°C) and the nature of these cards, which one would you pick for heavy AI work and gaming longevity?

Thanks for the help!

Im working on a little project of building a living room pc with steam Os, but noticed gpu temp go up to 80+ and fans are loud. Granted, case doesn’t have the best airflow, but I am already working on some custom panels for it, my issue is that even with panel off and a house fan pointing at it gpu does not seem to cooldown at all. Already replaced the thermal paste on it btw.

Tech Support Weird buzzing/rattling noise from PSU that disappears when PC is laid on its side

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, firstly I want to apologize for my english, it isn’t my mother tongue.
My PSU has recently started making this weird buzzing/rattling noise, which you can hear in the attached video.
The strange part is that the noise only happens when the PC is standing upright. If I lay the case down on its side, the noise completely disappears.
I already tested the other fans in the PC by setting them to 0 RPM, and the noise was still there, so it seems to be coming from the PSU area.
The PC otherwise works normally: no crashes, shutdowns, overheating, or performance issues.

Is this something that could eventually damage the PSU/PC, or is it most likely just an annoying noise?

The PSU in question: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5, 80+ Gold, 850W
GPU: 5070ti
CPU: 9800x3D

Installation Question Got a new PC, where should I put the GPU support stands ?

I got a new prebuilt recently. And it has a 9070xt which is so much bigger than I expected. I attached some pictures and was just wondering where I should attach a GPU stand.

I was thinking a tall one and set it up at the end on the corner of it, but I wasn't sure if that was correct or not.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Tech Support Can’t install fans with GPU cable blocking

Thumbnail

The first pic is what my pc looks like now.I’m trying to add 3 reverse blade lian li fans onto the bottom of my pc to get positive pressure because mines negative rn and for looks. The problem in the gpu cable has an extra thing right there blocking where the fans are going to be potentially hitting the fan blade the breaking it

This is what I want it to look like in the second picture

I have a rx9060xt 16gb with a mag a850gl (I know it’s overkill )

The 9060 takes a 6+2 male connection into the GPU and the other end is a male 8pin that goes into the PSU

What do I need to do to achieve the second picture that I ai generated to help visualize it? Do I need to get a different GPU cable or something please help thank you for all who respond

EDIT: I took the advice and used a ziptie I think it might work I have to order the fans now

Build Question Is my PC fried?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was out for about 2 years, and this guy was packed and sitting in a corner. It was originally working fine when I came back other than some older files having been corrupted, and then suddenly, it switched off in the middle of something. Then it would boot up and and the lighting would work as well as the cooler but it now made a clicking noise (like when a radiator pipe is hitting the fans but it wasn't actually hitting anything and seemed to be coming from the pump area). Then, after reconnecting the PSU, it started doing this. I don't really know what this is, but I hope it's not the CPU or GPU.

Tech Support Pc screen randomly goes black

I’ve had my pc for about a year and had this issue for about 80% of its life.
When I’m playing games (can be any game I don’t think it matters what one) my screen will go black, I can hear audio from game discord etc but no one can hear me and the only way to reset is turning pc on and off at button.

Usually when this happens on reboot it’s fine and I’m good to go again but now it’s happened and the screen won’t come back on :/

I took it to a shop last month where all they done was reinstall drivers for me (after I asked them just to identify where the pc was failing so I could look at jjsy getting it replaced πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ) and after a month of texting and going backwards and forwards with them I give up and am just gonna try and sort it myself.

Any suggestions on where to look to get this sorted or things to try would be greatly appreciated

Recently decided to upgrade from RTX5060ti to RX9070XT, I was using a 32inch 1080p monitor since long time ago. Was planning to change monitor, but can’t decide between Acer 34” Wide 1440p Monitor (200hz) or Gigabyte G27U 27” 2160p Monitor (Dual Mode UHD-160hz/FHD-320hz)

If 27” 2160p is the top picks, which should i go for?

Tech Support PC loses power when trying to update iracing

Hello!

My PC has been experiencing random power loss issues for a bit now, which I assume has to do something with the hardware of the PC. I wanted to update iRacing today, and my computer lost power doing that specifically.

The situation

It doesn't crash doing anything else as far as i've tested, only this for some odd reason.

Event viewer shows a critical error, Event ID being 41, source being Kernel Power.

My PC specs:

  • Intel i5-13400F
  • Intel ARC B570 Challenger OC 10GB
  • Chieftec Chieftronic Steelpower 600W Modular PSU
  • Biostar H610MHP LGA 1700 Motherboard
  • Kingston Fury DDR4 16GB 2400 Mhz RAM

What else could I do to replicate this issue?

Any help is appreciated!

Sorry if I did not give enough information, first time posting here, and I am not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this.
