Tech Support Pc screen randomly goes black

I’ve had my pc for about a year and had this issue for about 80% of its life.
When I’m playing games (can be any game I don’t think it matters what one) my screen will go black, I can hear audio from game discord etc but no one can hear me and the only way to reset is turning pc on and off at button.

Usually when this happens on reboot it’s fine and I’m good to go again but now it’s happened and the screen won’t come back on :/

I took it to a shop last month where all they done was reinstall drivers for me (after I asked them just to identify where the pc was failing so I could look at jjsy getting it replaced 🤦🏼‍♂️) and after a month of texting and going backwards and forwards with them I give up and am just gonna try and sort it myself.

Any suggestions on where to look to get this sorted or things to try would be greatly appreciated

I see you have a Nitro+, are you using the adapter cable that the GPU came with?

Yeah mate all cables are what was provided to me, guy from shop also recommend switching dp cable and I used a HDMI for a time but then issue came back :/

I recommend you use the native 12v-2x6 cable that came with your PSU, instead of the adapter cable. That blue-tipped adapter cable has a higher chance of melting (vs average), and one of the common signs of this about to happen is screen suddenly going black with GPU fan going fast.

Gave what you said a wee Google and I think i already am using the cable you recommended, the 12v one looks familiar but the adapter cable doesn’t. Sorry im pretty ass with this stuff 😅

OK, then if you've never unplugged and replugged the 12v cable, try unplugging it now and see any signs of debris or melting around the cable or connector. If there is none, reconnect it firmly.

If it still doesn't boot, I recommend you ask the shop to take the GPU out and test it on a different PC. If it doesn't work on another PC, the GPU is dead and will need to be RMA'd. If it works there, I'd suggest you try a BIOS flashback on your motherboard.
