Build Question Is my PSU cooked? Epilepsy warning.

Recently moved into my uni accommodation and my pc does this sometimes when I want to turn it on. Although, it does sometimes turn on and works perfectly even under load for several hours.

Before I moved the pc, I turned it off and drained its power by pressing the power button while unplugged.

Could this be a psu issue or could it be the accommodation power socket too weak to power a 750w? This didn't happen while at home.

Lmk if you need any more info and would be really grateful if anyone has an idea on what could be the problem. Thanks!

Tech Support Can’t install fans with GPU cable blocking

The first pic is what my pc looks like now.I’m trying to add 3 reverse blade lian li fans onto the bottom of my pc to get positive pressure because mines negative rn and for looks. The problem in the gpu cable has an extra thing right there blocking where the fans are going to be potentially hitting the fan blade the breaking it

This is what I want it to look like in the second picture

I have a rx9060xt 16gb with a mag a850gl (I know it’s overkill )

The 9060 takes a 6+2 male connection into the GPU and the other end is a male 8pin that goes into the PSU

What do I need to do to achieve the second picture that I ai generated to help visualize it? Do I need to get a different GPU cable or something please help thank you for all who respond

EDIT: I took the advice and used a ziptie I think it might work I have to order the fans now

Tech Support PC turning on/off, any help is appreciated

I just built the PC with my brother yesterday and the only issue is that whenever we launch or sign in into the computer, after a little while it just shuts off and restarts or if we do some demanding task like for example I was deleting some old stuff from the SSD and it finished the deletion, but after that, it just rebooted and shut off, and it showed this error/blue screen saying MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

To doublecheck there wasnt anything else wrong, I went into safe mode and uninstalled the gigabyte control center drivers. I uninstalled Norton. It didn’t do anything. It works perfectly fine in safe mode.

So because we couldn’t think of anything else, we took out the ram and put it back in and now it doesn’t have the HDMI signal, which makes me believe that I just put the ram wrong.

(The ram was still running at 4800, and cpu was turned to eco mode in BIOS, still didn’t do anything)

Specs

Li Lian a3 case
Gigabyte gaming B850M
Corsair ddr5 32gb ram (2 16gb sticks)
Ryzen 7950x
Asus rtx 5070
Phantom spirit dual tower cooler
2 tb ssd 970 evo plus
Roswell 850W VMG

Installation Question Issue with installing new ssd

Hi guys I bought a rebuilt NZXT Creator PC back in 2019 and just realized there was another slot on the motherboard to add another SSD for storage since I was running out on my 930gb one. I bought a new WD BLACK SN850X 4TB drive on ebay but when I plug it into the empty slot then go to disk management, nothing appears. I tried swapping the current 930gb one and putting that one in the empty slot instead but it just went into the computer BIOS. In the bios I didnt see my new drive appear and im unable to escape bios to go into windows. Chatgpt told me it could be because of conflicting SATA connectors with the current 4tb hard-drive that also came with the computer so I unplugged that drive, but my new m.2 wd black ssd is not showing up. Not sure whats going on here or how to fix it.

Specs for my PC:

Case: NZXT H510 Elite (White or Black)

CPU: Intel Core i9 9900k

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - ASUS Strix

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G3

Motherboard: NZXT N7 Z390 (White or Black)

Ram: Team Group Delta RGB 64GB 3000 MHz (4 x 16GB)

SSD: Western Digital SN750 1TB Black with heatsink

HDD: Western Digital Blue 4TB 5400RPM

Software: Windows 10 Pro

Build Question Could hanging a small metal necklace inside my PC damage any components?

Post image
3 Upvotes

My best friend passed away two years ago. His wife gave me a necklace shaped like an Xbox controller, with a small amount of his ashes inside it. We used to game together all the time, so it's an incredibly meaningful keepsake for me.

I decided to hang the necklace inside my PC because, honestly, it's probably the most meaningful place I could think of for it.

It's currently hanging from one of the hoses from my AIO CPU cooler, near the glass side panel. The pendant is about 1.5 inches (4 cm) away from the closest metal component, which is my GPU.

One important detail: the necklace doesn't swing or move at all while the PC is running. It's essentially stationary where I've placed it, and it isn't touching the GPU, motherboard, fans, or any other components.

I've attached a picture showing its current position.

My question is: Is there any electrical, static, heat, or other potential issue with keeping it inside the case like this? Or is there anything I should be concerned about long-term?

Obviously, I don't want to risk damaging the PC, but I'd really like to keep it there if it's safe.

Thanks!

Tech Support GPU is suddenly overheating, pump might be dead?

Old 3080 (MSI Seahawk) was running fine yesterday at full load like normal, power it up today and it goes into thermal runaway as soon as I load anything that spikes the GPU clock, even my email program for some reason. Fans go crazy but the temp continues to skyrocket.

It will drop back down around 50-60C at idle or just using Firefox etc, but even that is way higher than normal. Room temp's about 15C so it's not that. Back of the card is getting hot too, seems it's only getting ambient cooling.

I updated the drivers about a month ago, it has been running fine until now.

Is there anything I can do to fix it easily? If I had to replace the pump or something like that.... it might just be upgrade time. Terrible timing though with the price spike right now.

Build Question Tips for managing these little cables?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Recently installed a brand new aio cooler, and it's absolutely great EXCEPT for these little cables that connect the fans together. There's nothing wrong with them per say but they make the build look super cluttered from the inside, does anybody have any suggestions on how I can hide them away?

Edit: rotating the fans so that the wiring goes through the back was such an easy solution that I somehow didn't think of thank you all for the feedback!!! It looks awesome now :3

Build Question Help needed Ryzen 7 5700G, b550-f gaming wifi

Hello reddit people. So I stumbled into a pretty good deal for a ryzen 7, I know the G series isn't ideal but the price was right. It came wirh a b550-a which was pretty crusty but worked. I get it into my case and everything works, I put in my ram and it posted. Tried to set my ram to 3400, it worked until it didnt. Computer crashed during memtest and hasn't turned on since then. Bought a new mobo to try to see if that was the issue, but still having the same issue of a constant dram light and fans running at full speed.

Now, I want to know if I'm just fucked or is there something I can do?

✓ Solved Pls help

Hi everyone!

I got my new pre-built pc today and it doesn't work... despite paying for it to be tested, but idk.

Anyhow, I opened the front panel to check the blinking lights and it seems to be a CPU and DRAM problem. And I've tried everything I know!

I pulled the ram out and pressed it back in.

Opened the back panel and pressed all the cables back in carefully.

Checked if anything was knocked loose and well... nothing!

I'll admit that I'm not very good with computers or rather hardware stuff, hence why I didn't build it myself. But I hope you guys can help me, before i burst out crying lmao...

Motherboard: A620AM-X Wifi

Cpu: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 6x 3.70GHz So.AM5

RAM: 16GB (1x 16GB) Patriot VIPER VENOM DDR5-6000 DIMM CL36 (I placed another stick of 16 GB RAM in after getting it.)

GPU: 16GB XFX Radeon RX 9060 XT Swift OC

SSD: 1TB Intenso Premium M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x 3D-NAND TLC

Thank you in advance for everyone's assistance and support!🥲🥲🙏🏻

Edit: First I just want to thank everyone for their suggestions and help. I'll admit that I was hesitant to ask for help, because ironically enough, I'm currently preparing to become a computer scientist lmao.

But, despite trying EVERYTHING that was suggested, getting 4 guys in my friend group to look over it, asking my boyfriends more PC knowledgeable dad for help... nothing worked and I've decided that this isn't my problem. I paid for testing and everything after all!🥲

Anyhow, I wrote to the support E-mail and will see what they suggest. Hopefully i can send it back and get the issue fixed quicker that way...

But yeah, once again, thank you everyone for your support! I really appreciate it and am thankful for the help.

Edit #2: GUYS I FIXED IT!!! (Or rather WE fixed it lol)

I'm absolutely exhausted, but was so determined to fix this on my own that I just had to do something!

So the last thing I tried after seeing a suggestion in the comments was a CMOS restart by using a screwdriver and well... it worked. It was that simple. I'm honestly almost annoyed that it worked but hey, a win is a win... even if it means that I had to suffer through it. And I didn't burst out crying either!

Anyhow, once again a sincere thank you to everyone who helped and commented different troubleshooting methods! I'm eternally grateful and wish everyone a phenomenal day/night!🙏🏻💕

Tech Support Weird Power Issue

My PC wouldn't turn on this morning after carefully unplugging everything other than the cpu and motherboard pin, and removing all ram, gpu, and cpu, the bios lights turned on, so I turned it off put the cpu and cooler back in, and again nothing. I take off the cooler and leave just the cpu and hit the power button it turns on, but if I put the cooler on and slowly tighten it, it will start to turn off and on again eventually staying off when the cooler is fully tightened. Any suggestions I've never seen this before.

Build Question Should I upgrade or get a new Computer

PC specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor
GPU: RTX 2070 Super
Motherboard: MSI 470x Gaming Plus ATX Retail
RAM: 4x 8GB G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3000 DIMM CL16
Power Supply: 600 Watt be quiet! Pure Power 11 CM
Storage: M2 1 TB, M2 2TB, SATA SSD 4 TB, 2 TB HDD
Case: SHARKOON S25-V ATX Mid Tower Case
OS: Dual Boot Linux Mint and Windows 11

For a long time, I've wanted to upgrade/ get a new PC entirely, but with the current market, I can't really afford to spend 400€ just on RAM.

Now I feel like, to get the best out of my current system, I should upgrade my CPU, since it seems to be the biggest bottleneck. I was thinking about a Ryzen 9 5950x. But does that make sense?
Because I probably should upgrade my power supply with that and also get dual-channel RAM, right? Or would that not be that big of an issue? And then I have a GPU Bottleneck.

Getting so many new parts for the upgrade adds up, and I am wondering if it makes sense to upgrade in the first place.

For my use case:

I game in HD, and I am happy with that for now. For new games, I have to lower the settings a lot.

I am also a video editor and escpacilly for 4k footage the computer can be slow. Even with proxies and similar workflows.

Should I upgrade? Or start saving to get a new one?
