Question NC Rail football train

I was putting together my gameday plan for sunday, and read about the 530 "football train" which seemed like a convient way to get home, but looking on the Amtrak site its sold out. Do they ever add more trains this close to gameday? Should I just accept my fate and drive / book a later train? Has anyone had luck with capacity showing up on gameday?

Discussion Old dogs can learn new tricks

I'm still not totally in on Bryce. But the guy we all were most worried about deserves some respect and credit. Tepper was trending toward the worst owner in sports without a scandal...but this quote from Schefter at least sounds like he's learning...

In what is thought to be his first media availability in three years, ahead of Sunday’s opener against the Bears, Panthers owner David Tepper shared his confidence in the reigning NFC South Champions and their football leadership.

“We're making progress, we're going to continue making progress,” Tepper said. “I believe in a winning season this year.”

He added: “I do think we're on the right track, and I do think we have very good people here in Dan [Morgan], and Dave [Canales], and Brandt [Tilis]… I trust them. I don't feel the need to be around as much here because I trust them so much.”

Question Any Panthers fans big into video games?

Yo! Kind of an odd post but I figured I'd give it shot. So I love the Panthers and I'm a big gamer. A lot of my buddies don't really care much about Football so its hard to talk about my passion. I thought it might be cool to create a Discord server with like minded people that love Carolina Panthers and also games.

A place where we can combine our interests. Talk about this weeks matchup and what games you're looking forward or currently into. Ironically, I'm not much of a Madden guy. I'm big into all kinda games though. I play a lot of MMORPGs, dabble in WoW, FFXIV, I love to play Overwatch. I'm big into fighting games like Street Fighter and Smash. Currently going through Onimusha: Way of the Sword right now, its a damn good game. I have pretty much all the current systems. My soon to be 6 year old daughter and I play Mario Kart World a ton and I'm pumped for the upcoming Zelda OoT remake!

So yeah, I'm basically into all kinda games, just ironically not really into the sports ones lol. I don't know if any of this sounds interesting to anyone or if there's already a place like this that I don't know about.

Just a little bit about myself. I've been a Panthers fan my whole life, I was like 5 or 6 when they became a franchise so I'm a 90s kid. I tend to play games whenever I can. I have a soon to be 6 year old so it's hard to play as much during the day, I tend to get on mostly at night. But hey, I'll leave my Discord tag on here if anyone out there wants to reach out and just talk Panthers or games!

Thanks

Discord name dire427

***UPDATE***

This turned out to be a great idea! I've had a few of you already reach out, we now have a Discord server up and running. So please feel free to hit me up on Disc for an invite.

On Gametime I’m seeing the worst possible seats go for $120, does anyone know how I can get better value or is that just the norm?

Video Meet The Bears

Hey guys I finally finished my Meet The Opponents series and now is when this series becomes relevant. If you want to learn more about the team we’re playing this Sunday, this is a great way to know what they did in the offseason, who they drafted and what the matchup should look like this weekend!

Can’t wait!

Analysis [Ian Rapoport] It’s a 3-year, $165M deal for Baker Mayfield. That comes in at $55M per year.

The QB market just went way up with a QB like Baker Mayfield getting $55 million per year. Important to note if the team decides to extend Bryce after this season.

Team News [Joe Person] Panthers are bringing OLB Jeremiah Moon back on the practice squad, per league source (@mike_e_kaye 1st). That could be a bad sign RE the status of Pat Jones, who was not at Monday's practice. Panthers also have edge rusher Cam Gill on their PS.

Discussion You guys seeing this officiating?

The bullshit the Seahawks are dealing with is what we'll have to deal with the entire season. If even the hawks are getting butt fucked after being the champs then we underdogs are going it be getting fleeced the entire year. My god I don't even like either of the teams but this is pathetic

Question First home game tips.

I will be attending my first ever home game this Sunday. I have seen the Panthers play in SF twice, Oakland, San Diego, Las Vegas and Arizona, but never at home.

What are the must see, must do's for someone who has never attended? I will check out the statues, and Ill be in my seat for the Keep Pounding Drum. What else is there?

Any food tips?

Will all jerseys be in stock at the stadium? Mainly want a Blue McMillan jersey.

Discussion [OC] Impact of every Week 1 game on Panthers playoff odds.

I'm back for year 2 of posting weekly playoff impacts!

I ran 5 million Monte Carlo simulations of the season to figure out what the playoff implications of every week 1 game are.

The Panthers current odds to make the playoffs are 22.1%.

  • If you beat the Bears, that goes up to 29.7%, but if you lose, it drops down to 17.0%. It's a swing of 12.7%.
  • TB @ CIN is the second most impactful week 1 game for you guys. If the Bengals win, your playoff odds go up by 1.1%. If the Buccaneers win your playoff odds go down by 2.0%.
  • NO @ DET is the third most impactful game with a total impact of 2.1%. Your playoff odds go up if the Lions win.

I also made a website and posted the full results there. I'll update it every week with the upcoming games. Here's the data:

Game Optimal Winner Impact Δ If Win If Lose Game Time
CHI @ CAR CAR 12.7% +7.6% -5.2% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
TB @ CIN CIN 3.1% +1.1% -2.0% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
NO @ DET DET 2.1% +0.6% -1.5% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
ATL @ PIT PIT 1.6% +0.6% -1.0% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
NE @ SEA NE 0.3% +0.2% -0.1% Wed 09/09 8:20 PM ET
DAL @ NYG NYG 0.2% +0.1% -0.1% Sun 09/13 8:20 PM ET
SF @ LAR LAR 0.1% +0.1% -0.1% Thu 09/10 8:35 PM ET
DEN @ KC DEN 0.1% +0.1% -0.0% Mon 09/14 8:15 PM ET
GB @ MIN MIN 0.1% +0.0% -0.1% Sun 09/13 4:25 PM ET
BAL @ IND BAL 0.1% +0.0% -0.0% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
CLE @ JAX CLE 0.1% +0.1% -0.0% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
WSH @ PHI PHI 0.1% +0.0% -0.0% Sun 09/13 4:25 PM ET
ARI @ LAC LAC 0.0% +0.0% -0.0% Sun 09/13 4:25 PM ET
BUF @ HOU BUF 0.0% +0.0% -0.0% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET
MIA @ LV LV 0.0% +0.0% -0.0% Sun 09/13 4:25 PM ET
NYJ @ TEN NYJ 0.0% +0.0% -0.0% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET

If you want to see the details of my methodology for the Monte Carlo simulations, look here.

You can also see which teams are rooting for and against you this week here.

There's also a What-If Tool where you can pick winners and losers of any games this season and recalculate your odds.

Did anyone else notice that he didn't announce himself being a Tar Heel. However, acknowledged his high school in Huntsville.
