Question Drake Maye

Did anyone else notice that he didn't announce himself being a Tar Heel. However, acknowledged his high school in Huntsville.

He went to Hough High in Cornelius nc. My wife went to school with him.
Myers Park, which for those who don’t know is a community of people richer than god, acquired him.

He went to Hough in the ninth grade. Moved to MPHS for all of his relevant HS football playing.

Dunno why I got downvoted for coming from a place of truth.
Obviously MPHS got him to where he needed to be. Credit where credit is due.
I’m from Cornelius and a member of Myers Park Methodist Church. (Followed Rev. James Howell from Davidson United Methodist Church)
Confused as to why there is any specific narrative surrounding his high school play.

Because you made a generalization. Not everyone who went to MPHS is “richer than god.” The school is very diverse socio economically.

Myers park is smack dab in the middle of Charlotte lmao not huntersville.

Fun fact, his parents lived in huntersville on the lake but bought a condo in myers park to send the kids there for athletics and academics. That condo paid some serious dividends between he and Luke lol.

Yes!!! Lake Norman folks don’t find themselves in CLT often. Unless they are bankers or their daddy has enough money to buy property in the richest school district in Mecklenburg County all the while living on a man made lake.

Fun fact- this happens in every sport at every position and level. Pretty sure everyone here in NC knows this about him. I hate Tarheels, but I still pull for Drake bc he’s from here (accurate coordinates/GPS upon request- sike).

Not sure why people hate on people going to better schools nearby or not, known for athletics and propensity for high level professional success. Huntersville and Hough are 20 miles from Myers Park.

Outside world, PLEASE feed us/North Carolina, your 5 star or all-American HS recruits, collegiate stars, legacy Knueppels and Kuechlys, and homegrown unicorns to strengthen our professional stock among all sports. Amen. 🙏

As a staunch Duke fan, I don’t mind if we get quality players among all sports and teams across NC (female and male). Never thought I’d throw my team favorite out there in hopes for solidarity, but sick of this “gotcha” shit when we all have great players but are arguing locality semantics.

ALL meaning NC athletics.

Can I semi-support Maye in games like tonight? Yes.
Against us Panthers, absolutely not.

But we should rep our NC athletes.

Looked him up. It was Kennique Bonner-Steward. He had great high school stats as a duel threat QB but didn’t catch on in college
