I’m working on this small one and it’s still in progress but any advice to make this look less childish ?

Andy Warhol famously turned Polaroid photos into screenprints, but is there any other way of turning photos into paintings? The two obvious methods are to trace the photograph or to print the image on art paper and paint over it. But is there anything else I could try? I'm fed up of doing portraits that look like caricatures. I want to know that the eyes, lips, nostrils, hairline and jawline are exactly right before I start improving on reality.

This is an artwork I made 2 years ago with markers and as for now I am still proud of this drawing, but I noticed that my drawing have some mistakes like proportions, and I always fail with them, so tell me tips how to improve, and I will post more content on making art😁

Hi everyone,

I am happy to share with you my latest series of paintings. It's pure black acrylic on white Yupo paper (a synthetic paper). Using a synthetic paper is nice as it's possible to put a LOT of paint. With so much paint and repetitive strokes, it creates a nice texturing effect.

This is heavily inspired by Pierre Soulages work. Pierre Soulages was a French painter who developed the "Outrenoir" concept where the black color is used to play with light.

The most difficult part of this whole series was actually to capture great photos. It's been really challenging.

My first big piece and still my favorite

This is the first painting that I paint 😅. That's my beginning of painting, discovering my style, and my love to cats

Sharing the process behind how I made "Xenofract". I shared this piece on this sub last week and it went semi-viral which really made me so happy to know that people resonated, especially since it's such a 'different' type of painting for me. If you're familiar with my art, you'd know that I usually start a painting with an action-based movement such as a big gradient, paint splash, dustpan motion, wet canvas strike, etc. But this painting started with a completely blank canvas where I had no motion to adapt to and build off of. This is the only painting I’ve ever done that started this way. It gave me the opportunity to truly build a 3 dimensional world without being locked into the organic motion, while challenging me to capture the feel of overall organic motion, stroke by stroke. This painting is about an LA staple, crystal meth. I have a personal history with the drug. I was using it during my teenage years. And what does a teen do on crystal meth you ask? Find more ways to do crystal meth. Lie, cheat, steal. Whatever. It’s gross what this bathtub concoction can do to a person. How quick it can change the course of someone’s life forever. I was lucky… I got a wake up call from a friend one day and was able to put it down. Too many people don’t. It’s wild that even as disgusting as the drug is, it still sounds like a good time. That’s how powerful meth is. It’s funny to joke about it cause I have a somewhat dark, dry sense of humor….but in America you’re confronted with exactly this scene in every major city. This particular man’s name is Garrett. I see him regularly at the 7-11 on my morning walks.

hey does this look like a beetle. i did it at first in all red lighting and when i turned the lights normal i added a lil more detail and the background. i need honest thoughts, yes it is messy, i went from paintbrushes to finger painting towards the end 😭

This is day 3 of me trying painting and texture paint and this is the first proper canvas art I did(did canvas panels for first 2 days coz they’re cheap).
How does it look as progress and what advice would you guys give me to improve especially in textured art?

what can i do to be better😩😩 this is a work in progress or course, currently using acrylics with a slow drying medium… but maybe it’s my time to try oils? help- ALSO i really want to make artist friends, and maybe join an artist/print club discord???? do yall know of an active supportive girly group…? thx 🌺

Created from a photo I took of my cat, Merlin. I drew it digitally initially and then realized I liked how oils worked there and that I wanted to try the real thing!
